도망치다- Escape
Hi... This is my first Jeon Jungkook fan fiction here, hope you enjoy and I know it's a lot different from the usual but just give it a try (Kdramas are influencing me). Don't forget to vote and comment if you enjoyed the story. Please do comment because I love feedback and I'm a bit nervous and wonder what you guys think of this bizarre story.
Escape:
To break free from confinement or control
Sae Ryung felt the left side of her face sting from the slap she had just received. She had no right to cry and even though the tears in her eyes were threatening to slip off, she knew she wasn't meant to cry. So instead, she turned her face to the right and watched the madam's face get even redder, telling Sae Ryung that she had instead, done something very wrong.
"You dare to mock me!" The madam of the household said, leering at her with an irritated look. Sae Ryung's first thoughts were to get down on her knees and beg for forgiveness but she knew she would still be beat into unconsciousness so she instead, knelt down, bowing down her head and stayed quiet hoping for her fate to be better.
"Bring the whip and straw mat. This wench needs to be taught her place," The woman told the servants who seemed to scatter around the house and instead of doing their duties, they watched as Sae Ryung was harassed by the madam.
This wasn't anything new, instead it was rather something that seemed to happen frequently. She was a slave girl and having to stoop so low was something she did everyday. She had been bought by the Parks at a very young age and had since, served as a slave to their daughter. The daughter, Park Sa-wol had always been kind and she treated Sae Ryung like a friend because they were the same age. The madam was the exact opposite and seemed to oppress her everyday of her life mostly because Sae Ryung was usually seen with her son, Park Eun-shik.
That was also the reason why she was going to get beat now. Because she had been seen smiling with Eun-shik.
The shuffling of feet was heard and Sa-wol rushed in, raising her hanbok as she tried to hurry to where Sae Ryung and her mother were in the open space at the front of the house.
"Mother, she did nothing wrong," Sa-wol pleaded, holding onto her mother's arm. "What did she do wrong? She only smiled at brother."
The madam easily broke free from her daughter's grasp. "Why are you here? Where is the whip?" She screamed the last few words at the servants.
"Mother, just forgive her. I promise, she will not do such again," Sa-wol persuaded, almost ready to kneel down who eventually gave in and walked back in the house. Sa-wol moved over to Sae Ryung and grabbed her by the hand, pulling her up.
"I am sorry, Miss," Sae Ryung apologized, almost breaking down.
"It is fine. You did nothing wrong." The servants seemed to disperse as she and Sa-wol walked to the house.
Sa-wol turned around to look at the girl who was tailing behind her. "Sae Ryung, have you ever felt the urge to escape?" She asked, looking at the girl who's eyes were slowly getting huger at what Sa-wol mentioned.
"What do you mean by escape? I would never think of doing such a thing." Sa-wol smiled in a facetious manner and turned around to continue walking.
"Just be honest with me." Sa-wol paused her walking once more, this time not turning around to face Sae Ryung and in front of her room. "You must thought of it at least once, right?"
"No. There is absolutely nowhere I can go to escape from the Park family. I would be labeled ungrateful if I do such a thing." Sa-wol giggled at Sae Ryung's seemingly incessant ramblings. "Besides, the Park family has been nothing but kind to me. How could I repay them with such attitude of rebelliousness?"
"Stop talking for a second, Sae Ryung," Sae Ryung stopped her from continuing. "I meant, what if there was another whole world where you could be free? Would you go there?"
Sae Ryung did not miss the flippant attitude that continued to remain on the lady's face. "Miss, are we still going to be on this subject? I'm sure there is no world like that. Let us just go inside, your legs must be hurting now." Sae Ryung started to guide her inside but Sa-wol refused, standing on the same spot.
There was a time when the young lady had disappeared for two days without warning. Sae Ryung had been scolded and beaten countlessly due to her negligence and even though Eun-shik had pleaded on her behalf to his mother and father, they turned a blind eye to all of his words. When Sa-wol had come back on the night of the second day looking scarred and completely out of it. She cried for 7 days straight and had to be forced to eat by her parents. She told no one where she had gone to. When Sae Ryung asked for where she had been, Sa-wol claimed it was a world with things no one in this world could imagine, listing a few strange things like palanquin on wheels, trapped people inside boxes, and even a small box that could talk. Of course, Sae Ryung did not believe her. It sounded like Sa-wol was trying to hide the truth.
One insensible statement that Sa-wol had muttured during that state was that she had seen someone who looked exactly like her — Sa-wol — How was it possible to see someone who looked exactly like yourself — a doppelgänger? Very impossible.
"Let us go out, Sae Ryung," Sa-wol murmured, a far away look in her eyes making Sae Ryung look at her, surprised.
Sa-wol had not always been an indoors type. She would always venture in and out without telling a word to her mother. After the incident, her mother never wanted her out of the house except from visiting the homes of other noble families - even the palace - and always on a palanquin. 'Stay indoors and avoid talking to the peasants. Do not even relate with them'. The only exception was however, Sae Ryung because she served her.
"Whose home are we visiting? The palace? I'll call for a palanquin."
"No. Let us just walk around."
Sae Ryung looked at her incredulously and began to vigorously shake her head. "There is no way I would let you go into the city. The ma—"
Sa-wol cut her off. "I know, mother will not allow that," She said, disappointment in her voice. "But just once. We are not going too far from home."
"But-"
"Don't worry Sae Ryung, we will not get caught."
Sae Ryung sighed, hopefully they would not get caught. "Just for a few minutes, Miss."
They walked around the city for a while with Sae Ryung constantly reminding Sa-wol on how the minutes were going quickly and Sa-wol assuring her that there was not so much time gone. Sa-wol kept stopping on the way to try on several accessories she was not ready to buy and talk to complete strangers just to make Sae Ryung anxious. Sa-wol kept leading the way as the number of people on the streets reduced in general.
"Miss, let us head back now."
"Just wait. We are almost there."
Sa-wol continued through a small path until she stopped, turning around to face Sae Ryung and giggle. "We are here."
"What?" Sae Ryung glanced around looking for anything in particular that could attract the young miss into coming here. She found absolutely nothing of interest. It was simply a crop field. "Why are we here?"
"Just because." The lady shrugged. "It is peaceful here and looks like a nice place to sleep in, do you not think so?"
"Miss, we have no time to play here. We must go back home," Sae Ryung said, even though she knew that the Miss was sturborn to listen and would not budge.
Sa-wol sat down on a spot that seemed free expecting Sae Ryung to do the same. Sae Ryung did the same too.
"I found this place on the day before I got missing for two days. It felt like a nice place to sleep in. You know I rarely get any sleep at home." Sa-wol chuckled as she noticed the girl beside her slowly drifting off to dreamland. "The next day, I came here and almost immediately I slept off..."
Sa-wol glanced sideways to where Sae Ryung sat, already asleep. "I'm glad you escaped Sae Ryung."
Did you guys notice? I kept on using let us, I am, we are, e.t.c. instead of the short form let's, I'm, we're until when Sa-wol said I'm. It was for a reason. Did you guys like this chapter? I think if I don't get responses, I'll take the book down. It's because if I get responses, I'd be sure that this book is good enough for you guys. So please vote and most of all, comment. No Jungkook in this chapter but don't worry, you'll see him soon *grins evilly*
