Chapter 5: Goodbye Nostalgia

...

"I'll never return to the pathetic Kakyoin that I used to be!" - Noriaki Kakyoin

...

-(Y/N)'s P.O.V-

After classes, I start to clean up the music room at 4:00 PM so there will be no specks of dust that are left behind.

And after cleaning the whole music room, I looked at the clock which is now 6:00 PM, indicating that I'd been cleaning the music room for two hours straight.

(Y/N): (Oh shit, I gotta go now.)

I thought to myself as I packed up my stuff, left the school, and walked back home without ever looking back.

I then walked through the same park where I played my original music from yesterday and met a mysterious cowboy on the bench.

(Y/N): Hmm...I wonder if that cowboy will appear on that bench...

I said to myself as I decided to sit down on the bench and pulled out the guitar from my bag.

(Y/N): Oh well, guess I'll play a sad song.

I strung a few chords to play a few musical notes before I start singing.

Yesterday

I was saddened that my reality
Was nothing but a false illusion
Scene from the eyes of an evil perspective

Loneliness

Instead of trying to find solace
I decided to give up
Depression took its hold, until that fateful day

A bright light shined into my hole, it gleamed like an emerald
I had always wondered what was the meaning of my life

If you can see it, please tell me that you can
Tell me I'm not alone anymore
I am out of the veil of despair
I now know the meaning of shining hope

Heavenly

Those loud and noisy days would never end
I can't describe the connection, like spending time with old pals, and even older friends

Our determination dazzled on, like an emerald
No matter what is coming my way, I will face onward

I'll risk my very life, fighting our common foe
I do not regret any action and I swear to you, that will not return
To the old emerald that I used to be

I will protect this broken world, till the very end
I do this not for myself, not for my own, but for the ones
That I call family

As I lay here and die, I have few to no regrets
I am thankful for the time we had
And I think that this is exactly how it should end
I am grateful for protecting you, my friends

Goodbye

After the final strum, I let out a deep sigh as I waited for the cowboy to appear in thin air beside me. However...

???: It was a beautiful song.

It was a voice of a woman. I turned to my right and see a young adult woman who seemed to be in her mid-20s'. She has silver hair and short braids. Plus, she was wearing casual clothing and was holding a bag of food.

(Y/N): Oh uh...thank you very much, ma'am.

I said in a surprised tone because I was expecting the cowboy to pop up, but it was a woman instead.

???: Anytime, young man. Say, I've heard that you're the Bard that everyone's talking about, yes?

(Y/N): That's me. However, I just feel like I couldn't take the Bard role anymore.

???: Why is that?

(Y/N): Well, I rejected my admirers for asking me out because I had a crush on my childhood friend since we were kids. However, she has gone into a lot of relationships and broken up. I was there to comfort her, but she couldn't notice the love I had for her, and I've been with her as her guitarist, drummer, and other instruments that I could help her make songs.

???: Oh my, that's really bad for her to do that. It's not nice for her to continue finding relationships with other men she has been with before. Had she not learned her lesson?

The lady questions as I let out a deep sigh before speaking up.

(Y/N): I don't know. I feel like she's too ignorant to listen to herself.

???: I see. What else have you learned anything in the past few days?

(Y/N): Actually, I do. One night, I had a bit of advice from my grandfather that I should try to think for myself after I told him about my love for my childhood friend.

???: It is great advice that your grandfather gave you. I can tell that he must be a really kind old man.

The lady says with a sincere smile.

(Y/N): Thanks. I thought about my great-grandfather's advice until I feel a bit different later on in the past coming days. I felt the love for my childhood friend had already gone away now...

???: I see. Are you looking for someone else yet?

(Y/N): That's my thing. However, I think I need to focus on what I can achieve before that person could truly appreciate me.

???: That's a good thing to hear. Say, want to hear something from me?

(Y/N): I'm ready to hear you out. It's not like I have anything to do.

The lady smiles before speaking up.

???: Be sure to appreciate those who you care for. They'll support you to the very end and you respect them for everything they do. Loyalty is what matters to the people around you. And for that, you must take the shortest route that leads to the detour of how far you've grown.

(Y/N): A short route that leads a detour path, huh?

???: It is a lesson that you must take, young man.

(Y/N): I see. Thank you very much, Miss...?

Sakuya: Izayoi. Sakuya Izayoi.

The lady introduced herself with a gentle smile on her face.

(Y/N): *Nods* Mm. Thank you very much, Miss Sakuya.

Sakuya: You're welcome. Anyways, I must return home. My husband is waiting for me.

(Y/N): Sure. See you around.

Sakuya nodded as she got up from the bench and walked away while I watched her retreating figure.

I let out a small sigh before putting the guitar back onto the guitar bag.

(Y/N): Alright, I should head back home too.

I then grabbed my bag and continued to walk back home.

As I continued to walk down the sideway, I happen to come across Miku and Damien as her new boyfriend.

(Y/N)'s Phone: Boss, get down. That's an enemy gunship.

My phone said as I continued walking as if I didn't know them.

I can notice that Miku didn't even bother to say hello as they walked past me, but I took a glance at Damien as he gave me eyes that look like he could kill me if he wants to.

I ignored that as I keep walking past them and head straight toward my house.

-Mini Time Skip-

A few minutes later, I arrived back home safe and sound. I put my bags on one of the chairs before I dove my whole body onto the couch.

(Y/N): Whew...what a day...

I then hears the sound of a familiar bark as I turned to the source of the barking and see my dog, Geo.

(Y/N): Well if it isn't saucy Geo? Kept you waiting, have I?

Geo: Bark!

Geo barked happily which made me chuckle.

(Y/N): I see. Come, allow me to pat your little dinky head.

I said with a playful smile as Geo jumped onto my lap and I begin to playfully pat her head.

...

(A/N: That's that! Stay tuned for more!)
