Girl Meets World.
Emily's POV
I am sitting on Riley's window seat with her and Maya trying to get her to take the subway.
"Why do we have to sneak out of the house if we're not doing anything wrong until we sneak onto the subway?" Riley asks us.
"You think you're ready to just walk by your parents?" I ask her, with a look on my face.
"I think I'm ready." Riley replies.
"Let me see your face as you walk by your parents." Maya says to her. She does so and makes a face.
"Why are you making that face at us, Riley?" Maya asks.
"Because I'm sneaking out to the subway." She say then points to window then continues. "Out the window."
Maya looks at me then I nod. "Let's go." I say. We climb out of the window. Only to be stopped.
"Daddy! What are you doing out here?" Riley asks her father.
"Being smarter than us, how come you're always smarter than us?" Maya asks about her and I. We climb back into the room.
Her father climbs in window. "Here's what I'm thinking." He starts as Maya, Riley and I sit on the bed. "It's not your world yet. It's still my world. Because if it was your world, Maya and Emily would have you on the subway already, thinking you put something over on me. But you didn't. Know how I know? Look at you. You're right here." He says.
"How long do I have to live in my father's world?" Riley asks.
"Until you make it yours. Riley, do you know what I want more than anything? Go ahead. Make it yours." Mr. Matthews replies to his daughter.
"I will. And when I do, will you still be there for me?" She asks.
Topanga, Riley's mom, enters. "Right here. We'll be right here." She says.
We all leave heading for the subway.
Bleecker Street Subway Station. Maya, Riley and I enter the subway station.
We see Dweezil playing garbage cans as drums, as Maya, Riley and I dance along.
"Dweezil!" Me and Maya says in unison.
"Emily! Maya! Who's the new chick?" He asks us.
"Chick! Down here I'm a chick! No wonder my parents don't want me on the Subway." Riley says. I laugh.
Maya starts walking, and Riley and I follow.
"You're slouching, Maya." Gretchen says to her. I smile.
"Thanks, Gretchen!" Maya says. Then poses, walks forward, then to the side.
I follow her then Riley follows me.
We are on the subway when Riley starts applying lip gloss.
"Woah, Riley, you don't do lip gloss. That's Emily's thing." Maya says. I laugh a little then look around. I see a kid, bout our age reading a text book, he looks up and smiles, I give him a small smile then turn around as Riley says.
"Oh! What I forgot to mention is that I'm completely reinventing myself. I ride the Subway now, I have kiwi lips now, and I'm just as cool as you guys now!" She says to us.
Maya looks over Riley's shoulder, to the kid with the text book. "Yeah, let's see how cool you can be when you look at him." Riley turns around and looks. He smiles at Riley. She awkwardly smiles, then turns to Maya and I and giggles.
"Yeah, you're gonna need some lessons. Let me show you everything you need to know about boys and girls." Maya says. then walks over to the guy. "Hi, I'm Maya. You're really cute. We should hang out sometime. You make me happy. You don't pay enough attention to me. This isn't working out. It's you, not me. We can still be friends, not really." She says to him. I laugh as she walks away and back to us. "He's available. We just broke up." She says to Riley.
"Are you okay? Do we need to talk about it?" Riley asks her. I laugh.
"You still wanna be like us?" Maya asks her.
"I want to be exactly like you. I think too much, and, you don't think at all." Riley says.
"See? You get me, so let's not think." I say then unlatch Riley's hand from the bar. She falls.
She falls onto the kid. "Hi. We were just talking about you. You used to go out with my friend, Maya." She says.
"I'm Lucas." He replies. Nice name.
"I love it." Riley says.
A lady enters. "Perhaps someone would like to give their seat to someone older." Lucas stands up "Not you, sweet potato pie."
"Please don't make me move. I just wanna see where this goes." Riley says.
"I've just worked a 12-hour shift and I just wanna see where this." The lady says then points at her booty. "goes. Okay?" She says.
Riley sighs. "Okay." Then walks to Maya and I. "That was great!"
"You're welcome." We say in unison.
"What if that was the best moment of my life? What if nothing ever happens to me again?" Riley asks us.
I smile, and unlatch Riley's hand again. She fall onto the lady. I put my hand over my mouth suppressing a laugh.
She looks at Riley. "It's for you." And puts her on Lucas.
We are now at our lockers at school.
"Did you guys have trouble with the homework?" Riley asks us. Well Maya didn't do it and I didn't have time to.
"Piece of cake." Maya says.
"Didn't do it." I say.
"You didn't do it, did you?" Riley asks Maya. Then turns to me. "Why didn't you do it?" She asks.
"I don't even know where my books are." Maya says while I close my locker and say.
"I didn't have time to."
Riley opens her messenger bag, and hands Maya her books. "Here. And they're heavy." The bell rings, and we enters a classroom. "You have to do the homework, Maya, Emily. This teacher's insane, a total nut job. I think there's something seriously wrong with him." She says. I just smirk.
"Hi, honey." Mr. Matthews, her father, says.
"Hi, Daddy." She says to him.
"You're late to your father's class." He says to her.
"Oh, don't worry, Mr. Matthews, you wrote her a note." I say to him.
"I did?" He asks.
"You did." I say then hand the note to Riley.
"You did." Riley says and hands the note to him.
He reads the note. "Riley's late. Deal with it." He looks back at us. "Oh, you got my signature down pretty good this time."
"Oh it was easy, you write like a girl." Maya says. We take our seats. I was sitting between Maya and Riley in the front row.
"Okay, let me get back to jamming some learning in your heads, The Civil War." He says. I groan and put my head down and start fake sleeping.
"The Civil Bore." Maya says. I sit back up and smirk.
"Thank you, future Mini-Mart employees of the month." He says to the two of us.
"Would we be making more money than you?" We ask him at the same time.
He pauses. Then says. "The Civil War! Anybody?"
"A war we fought against ourselves." Riley says.
"What, you actually studied it?" He asks us.
"No, I'm actually living in it." She says then smacks her head on her desk.
"People, people, are we here to learn or not?" Farkle says. He is another one of my best friends, he's my guy best friend.
"What do you mean, Farkle?" Mr. Matthews asks him.
"I've been in love with Riley since the first grade. But I'm also equally in love with Maya and Emily. Some might say the great mystery of the universe is who's gonna be the first Mrs. Farkle." Farkle says.
Maya and I turn around. "You don't want this." We say in unison.
"Bring it on." He says to us.
"I always thought that he'd wind up with back-of-the-class Brenda." Riley says. Everyone turns around.
Brenda waves.
Farkle disgusted says. "Yuck!"
"Actually, the great mystery of the universe is how you can love three women the same who couldn't possibly be more different." Mr. Matthews says.
"We're not so different." Riley says.
Farkle raises his hand. "May I overstep my bounds, sir?" He asks.
"You always do." He says then switches places with Farkle.
He flips over the name tag on Cory's desk so it says "Farkle" instead of "Mr. Matthews" "Riley, is the sun. Warm and bright and lights up my whole day. Maya, is the night. Dark and mysterious. And the night has always been a mystery to me. Because I go to bed at 7:30. And Emily is the sunset. Sun sets, light fades, which is symbolic of the forces of darkness. Force of good and bad. Day and Night combined. How can I love these three different women? How can I not?" He bows. "Thank you, I am Farkle!" He says.
"So, we were indeed trying to find out who we were, as a people. Who am I? What should I be? History shows that bad things happen when you don't know who you are." Mr. Matthews says when he's back at the front of the room.
The kid from the subway enters.
"Who are you? I don't know who you are." Mr. Matthews says.
Riley whispers to Maya and I. "Subway boy!"
"I'm Lucas Friar, from Austin, Texas." He says. He hands Riley's dad a note.
"Oh. New student, Mr. Friar?" He asks.
"Yes, sir." He's got nice manners.
"Great. You're just in time for today's assignment. Have a seat." Mr. Matthews says.
Lucas sits in the seat behind me. Riley looks behind me and at Lucas.
"Okay, so we..." Mr. Matthews starts then walks to Riley, and turns her head forward. "So, I'd like you guys to open your books to page 48. Now, I'd like you to turn to page one. Now, I'd like you to read from page one to 48." Everyone groans. "Oh, too bad on you. Okay, so for tonight's assignment, I'd like you to write me a three page essay on anything. Anything at all, that you guys believe in so strongly, you fight for it." He says. I look down at my feet. I want to believe in my parents loving me and being there again.
"That. I'd fight for no homework. I come here every day, why can't you teach me everything I need to know while I'm here." Maya says.
"Woo!" Riley says. She looks at Matthews. "Not woo!"
"He gets our days, let's take back our nights. No homework, more freedom! Who's with me?" Maya says. And starts chanting with the class, including me. "No homework, more freedom! No homework, more freedom! No homework, more freedom!" She whispers to Riley. "This is it, kid. You wanna be like us? Stand up." She says and starts chanting. "No homework, more freedom! No homework, more freedom! No homework, more freedom!
"What are you doing?" Mr. Matthews asks Riley after she stands up and starts chanting.
"I'm making a choice about who I want to be, about whose world I want it to be." She says to her father.
"Riley, I know you. You know exactly who you are." He says.
"Then who am I, Dad?" Riley asks her father.
"You're just like me." He replies.
"Oh, yeah? Would you do this?" She says. She starts chanting. "No homework, more freedom! No homework, more freedom! Farkle, are you with us or not? No homework, more freedom! No homework, more freedom!"
"My education? Or my women? My education? Or my women? My education? Or my women?" He looks dazed. "Oh, it's happening again, sir." He says then faints.
The next day at Lunch.
"Aww, look at him looking for a place to fit in." I say from my seat across from them, look at Lucas. He's looking around for place to sit.
"You think he'll sit with us?" Riley asks.
Maya slides over so there's a chair between her and Riley.
Farkle cames and sits in the chair between Maya and Riley. "Ladies."
"Farkle." We all say in unison.
"Interesting lunch line dilemma." He Looks at Maya. "Sloppy joe," he looks at Riley. "Or chicken pot pie?" He looks back at Maya. "Or sloppy joe," he looks back at Riley. "or chicken pot pie?"
"Is that all you got?" I ask him.
"That's it! Same time tomorrow!" He says then leaves. I laugh.
"There he is! Invite him to sit down!" Maya says about Lucas. Riley moves to the seat next to Maya.
"With words?" Riley says.
"You're ready for this." I say to her.
"What do I say?" Riley asks us.
"Hey, Lucas. Looking for somebody special?" Maya suggests.
"I can't say that!" Riley replies.
"Hey, Lucas. Looking for somebody?" I suggest.
"Too forward." Riley says.
"Hey, Lucas." Maya and I say in unison.
"Like we're on a first name basis?" Riley asks us.
"Hey." Maya and I say in unison.
"Hey." Riley says
"Hey back." Lucas says and sits down.
Riley pauses. "Hi. You're sitting here."
"Is that okay?" He asks.
She puts her thumbs up. "Can you excuse me for just one sec?" she turns to Maya and I and we scream for a split second.
"How ya doing?" Mr. Matthews enters.
"Dad, you have a choice here. You can either understand that this is just a boy talking to me in the cafeteria..." Riley says.
"I'm gonna do whatever you say next." Mr. Matthews says to Riley.
"But this is so innocent!" Riley exclaims.
"Honey, fathers don't see anything as innocent. We see it as...what's the opposite of innocent?" He asks.
Maya and raise our hands. "Right here!"
"Please don't embarrass me." Riley says.
"I'm just gonna talk to Mr. Friar about geography. You know, I've been to a lot of places. Never been to Texas, though. What part of Texas is the closest to Mexico?" He asks Lucas.
"That'd be El Paso, sir." Lucas replies.
"Great! Let's go right now!" I laugh as he drags Lucas' chair away from the table.
Lucas waves to Riley. We leave the table. We leave the table as Riley asks. "So, did you guys do the homework?"
"Nope." I say popping the 'p'.
"No, I didn't do the homework. The question on everybody's kiwi lips is, did you do the homework?" Maya asks her.
"No, I'm one of the founding members of the Homework Rebellion. You guys think I did my homework?" She replies.
"I think you did ours, too." I say.
"I did. I did, and I really liked it." She says to Maya and I.
"Riley, don't save me." We say in unison.
"What?" She asks us.
"Let us be us." Maya says and Farkle walks by.
"Oh. You got three desserts?" I ask him.
"Angel's food cake..." Riley says.
"Devil's food cake."
"And a mixed cake. Let me guess who's who." I say to him.
"Hey, Farkle's just hungry. Not everything is about you." He says.
In history, Lucas is sitting down in the desk behind Riley.
"Hi. I'm glad you're back." She says to him.
"Hi. Me too." He says to her.
Cory Approaches Riley and Lucas. "Hi. Apparently you have a better sense of direction" he gestures to Riley. "than I anticipated." Riley turns back and puts her hands on her head, and Cory does the "I'm watching you" signal. "You are a really good-looking guy." He pauses and starts talking to the class. "Okay. So, today we're gonna find out if anybody here believes in something so strongly, they'd fight for it. Emily."
"Yes, sir." I ask.
"Present your homework." He says.
"I can't, sir." I say.
"Why not?" He asks.
"I didn't have time to do it last night, sir." I say looking anywhere but him.
"See me after class, Emily." He says looking right at me.
I nod and look at the floor."Yes, sir." I say.
He looks at Maya. "Maya, present your homework."
"Can't do that, sir." She replies.
"Why not?" Mr. Matthews asks her.
"Didn't do my homework, sir." She says.
"Why not?" He asks her.
"That's what I'm fighting against, sir." Maya says.
"Oh, this could go on for a while." Farkle says and puts on a sleep mask, laying his head on the desk. "Farkle Farkle Farkle Farkle. Farkle Farkle Farkle Farkle."
"I didn't do my homework, either." Riley says.
"Oh, really?" Mr. Matthews says.
"Yeah. We're the same, now. I don't believe in homework." She replies.
"Guess what, Riley? That doesn't make you the same as Maya or Emily at all." He says.
Maya raises her hand. "I have something to say." She says. My eyes widen. Wow.
"Wow, I don't know what to do, I've never seen this before. The floor's yours, Ms. Hart." Matthews says.
Maya stands up. "Get up, Farkle." She pulls on his sleep mask. "You're gonna wanna be awake for this."
Farkle stands up. "Is it our honeymoon?" He asks.
"No, you missed that. Now it's time to hand in our essays." She says to Farkle.
"Oh! Farkle goes first, Farkle always goes first!" He says then leaves.
"Alright, everybody who did their homework, put it on your desk." Maya says. She starts collecting the homework.
"Careful there, Ms. Hart." Mr. Matthews says.
"Are you sure about this?" Riley asks her.
"She's got this." "I got this." Maya and I say at the same time.
"Okay." Riley says.
Farkle enters with an extravagant project. "The branding of Atlanta led to the end of the Civil War, and of peace. I believe that peace is worth fighting for." Maya takes a sparkler off of his project. "Hey, that's a pivotal part of my diorama!" I take off another and hand it to Maya. "And there goes Virginia."
"The burning of the homework led to the end of the Homework Rebellion, because there was no more homework." She stands on a chair, about to burn the homework with the sparklers.
Mr. Matthews takes the homework from Maya. "Alright, alright, that's far enough, Maya, I get it." He says to her.
She starts chanting with the class. "No homework, more freedom!" The fire touches the sprinklers, which sets them off, then the fire alarm rings. Ah crap. "Okay, so those work." She says.
"Is this all part of your presentation, or is this actually going on?" Farkle asks as everyone besides me Mr. Matthews, Maya, Riley, Lucas and Farkle leave rushing out of the classroom.
I notice Lucas holding his jacket of his and Riley's head. Awe.
Farkle runs to the front of the classroom, climbing onto Matthews.
"Ms. Hart, you have detention. The principal will determine if it goes farther than that. Ms. Daniels, you also have detention." He says. Maya steps down from the chair. I look down at the ground. "Ms. Matthews, please leave."
"I deserve detention, too!" She exclaims.
"No you don't. You didn't do anything. And Because you didn't do anything, your best friends are in very big trouble. Alright Farkle, you can get down now." Mr. Matthews says.
"Well, you're actually quite comfortable, sir." Farkle says to him.
"Thank you... Get off!" Mr. Matthews says.
"Farkle isn't going anywhere!" Farkle says.
Later Maya, Riley and I are at our lockers. Mr. Matthews comes over with Farkle still on him.
"Down, Farkle." He says.
"You're looking at us pretty hard there, Mr. Matthews." Maya says.
"I just wanna stand by my girls." Riley says.
"You missed the moment to stand by your girls. You were so busy trying to be them, Riley, that you forgot the best thing you can do for both of them is being you. Riley, take Farkle for a walk." He says Riley leaves with Farkle.
"Listen. For as long as I can remember, it's always been Riley, Maya and Emily. Now, I always believed a friend helps another friend out of trouble, not into it." He says.
"I'm sorry." Me and Maya say in unison.
"I am too, because you go too far. Do you understand me?" He asks.
"I have nobody at home who helps me with my homework." Maya says then leaves.
Mr. Matthews looks at me. I don't look at him and just sit on the bench.
"Why didn't you do your homework, Emily?" He asks me.
"I- I didn't have time." I respond.
"Why not?" He asks me.
"I have no one, Mr. Matthews. I have no one at home. So that means I need to do things alone. Everything alone." I say then get up and leave him on the bench.
"Riley?" I ask as we are in the subway.
"Yeah?" She says.
"If we can't hang out with each other as much anymore, don't worry about it." Maya says.
"Wait, why would... " I cut her off by saying.
"He's going to make you end our friendship."
"He said that?" She asks s.
"He's really upset with us." Maya says.
"He loves you guys." Riley says.
"I don't think so anymore." I say.
"We just want you to know that we get it wouldn't be your fault." Maya says and I nod
The lady from yesterday claps. "Bee-you-ti-ful! You three little bumblebees got a sweet thing going, but where's your hunk?" She pauses. "You ain't got no hunk, you ain't got no story!"
"We haven't been your good friends." Maya says to Riley.
"You're my best friends." Riley says.
"She's yours best friend. Best friends are important. I have a best friend. I'm not talking to her right now." The lady from yesterday says.
"We go too far. And I don't think that's gonna stop. We're bad for you." I say to Riley.
"He said that?" Riley asks us.
"He will." I say and the Subway stops. This is your stop. Don't be us. You don't go as far as us." Maya says.
"No." Maya and I lead her off the Subway. "No!"
"No! Do not push her off this train." The lady says. Riley turns to leave. "You do not push your best friend off the train." The door closes.
"I'm not you guys." Riley says then turns around, then opens the door.
"Ooh, she's back! That little girl pushed those doors open with the power of love!" The lady says.
"You guys are not allowed to abandon our friendship. I would never do that." Riley says.
"Riley, We're pushing you away because we're not good for you anymore" Maya and I say in unison.
"Only I decide that. You know why?" Riley says.
"Why?" Me and Maya asks her.
"Because if this is my world now, the first people I want in it are you guys." She says to us.
"You're gonna save us, aren't you?" We ask in unison.
"I am." Riley says then we all run out of the subway.
We enter Riley's apartment. "Where is he?" Riley demands. Auggie and Topanga point at Cory. "There is no way I'll let you break up my friendship with Maya and Emily."
"Is that what you think I want, Riley?" He asks her.
"No. What you said you really want is for me to make the world my own. And you want me to do my homework. Well, I'm doing it right now. Here's what I think is worth fighting for. They are my best friends. Their gonna get me into trouble, and I'm gonna get us out of it. And I did, because here we are. Look at us, Dad. We're right here. My Civil War is over, Dad. I won. What happens now?" Riley asks him after her little speech.
Bleecker Street Subway Station. Auggie, Cory, Farkle, Lucas, Maya, Riley, Topanga and I are gathered.
"Friends, family, and all you other subterranean mole people. We're here today to celebrate Riley being Riley. Now, some may call this a New York City Subway pass. But you, Riley, can consider this a ticket to the world." Mr. Matthews says.
"You think I'm ready?" Riley asks.
"You showed us you are." Mrs. Matthews says.
"Riley, I've already met the world. It's your turn." Her father says.
Riley smiles, then takes the card.
"Hey, this isn't so different from Texas. Look, there's a pony." Lucas says. I laugh as I see the rat.
"That's a rat." Farkle says. Gretchen and another model walk by. "Ladies."
"Farkle." They say and walk away.
"So, where do you wanna go?" I ask Riley.
"Don't know. Big world." Riley says.
"Ours now?" Maya asks.
"Yeah, but my dad did say I have to be home by five." She replies.
"Don't worry. He wrote you a note." I say hand Riley a note as we walk into the Subway.
Subway Announcer starts speaking. "Next stop, Astor Place, 14th Street, and the world."
Bleecker Street Subway Station. Maya, Riley and I exit the Subway, where we see that Auggie, Cory, and Topanga are waiting.
"You guys came back and waited for us?" Riley asks her family.
"Hey, we told you we were always gonna be here for you." Topanga says.
"Yeah, Riley. It's not so easy handing over the world without making sure everything's gonna be okay." Cory says.
No one's POV
"... It's not so easy handing over the world without making sure everything's gonna be okay." Cory says. He turns around.
Mr. Feeny appears. "Well done, Mr. Matthews." He says then disappears.
So I have been deciding weather or not to start a Girl Meets World book for a while and obviously I decided I would. I wanted to put in the ending because well I love how this episode ended. They brought back FEENY! Yay! Lol. I tried to make the first chapter the best I could. I hope you all liked this first chapter. Anyways thanks for reading. Bye.
-Kelly.
