Chapter 5 - A New Experiment
Becca's POV
I yawned heavily and sat up, rubbing sleep from my eyes. Even though these were Minecraft beds, they were still comfortable!
I swung my legs off the bed and stood up, stretching and wincing at the bones-popping sound.
I left the room and hopped down the stairs to the second floor. Nick was talking to AK about finishing the machine gun nest on my floor.
I ran up behind him and tapped him on the shoulder. He turned around and smirked. "Hey, Becca! How you doing?"
I shrugged and pulled the book and pen from my pocket.
'Not doing too great. I'm scared for my friends. And my sister.'
"Oh, I've been meaning to ask you that. How the heck did you get here like that?"
'It's...complicated. Red somehow was able to connect our dimensions and he pulled me, my sister, my boyfriend, and my closest friend in with him. I was able to just barely escape, but Red still has my sister and friends. And...since our real bodies are here...I...we'll die completely.'
I raked my hand through my hair as he read it, frowning all the while.
"Do...you know how he did it?"
I put on my thinking face. 'Well, the first time I came here, I had my phone. He took it when he captured us. I was at school when I got called by my own number. I answered it, Red said "I'm back", and then a portal opened. I think that by calling my number...he connected our dimensions.'
AK looked skeptical and whispered something to Nick.
Nick grimaced. "Um...s-sure." He looked towards me and frowned.
I sighed. I knew what he told Nick.
...Ugh. This is gonna make it tougher to get them to Red.
HAHA. ALREADY THINKING LIKE A TRAITOR.
Like I have a flipping choice!
I grimaced and turned away, walking fast down the stairs.
I pulled open the door to the outside and left. I needed to clear my head.
I sidled through the barb wires and walked away, my thoughts racing.
I walked for so long that when I became aware of my surroundings, I realized that I was in front of Louis's building.
Slowly, I entered the building and walked up the stairs.
When I reached Louis's floor, I paused. Someone was here. I could sense them.
I prepared myself for a fight and crept through the doorway.
There was a man in a ghilly suit. I saw some black hairs poking through. His back was turned, but he quickly turned around when I entered.
I gasped.
That's not possible.
He's dead.
He died.
...Louis?
Nick's POV
"...You're not gonna like this, Nick, but we'll have to be wary of her. Especially after last time."
I grimaced and replied, "Um...s-sure."
I looked towards Becca and frowned.
Her eyes went unfocused for a second before she grimaced and ran from the building. I ran to the window to see her sidle through the wire and walk away.
Shark came up and gave me a questioning look. "What was that about?"
Before I could answer, AK spoke. "Don't trust Becca. At least, not for now. She's...giving off some bad vibes."
I sighed and nodded. "I understand where he's coming from. I mean, Red taking her from her dimension and then barely escaping? That's...strange. Especially since Red doesn't exactly let his catches go easily. It was a miracle that we escaped...mostly unharmed. Becca's more valuable in many ways."
Shark put his hands behind his head and closed his eyes, sighing. "Life'll never give us a break, will it...?"
I watched Becca's figure turn a corner. "Not anytime soon."
Rachel's POV (Let's see how well I can write from an 9-year-old's mind....)
I hung onto Jane tightly as the girl, Keona or something, studied us.
"Hmm...Becca's on her way to complete what she must complete...but what to do with you three...?"
I gave her an angry stare. "What are you doing with my sister?" I asked, trying not to sound scared.
She stopped walking around us and came towards me. I held onto Jane even tighter.
"...So you're her little sister?"
She looked at Gerrin. "You're her boyfriend." He gave her an angry stare, too.
She looked at Jane. "And I'm guessing you're one of her closest friends...."
She laughed. "This is perfect!"
She turned to some of Red's men. "Take the older two to the cells. One of you take the little one and follow me."
I whimpered in fear and hid behind Jane, trying to breath. I closed my eyes.
Breath, Rachel. Don't have a freak-out moment. Not now.
I then heard Gerrin yell in surprise and Jane scream in fear.
I quickly opened my eyes to see Jane and Gerrin being dragged somewhere.
"JANE! GERRIN!" I yelled. I started to run after them, but something stopped me.
I was pulled really fast backwards. I squeaked in surprise and fell over, the thing that pulled me back picking me up. When I realized who had picked me up, I started fighting back.
"NO! PUT ME DOWN, YOU STUPID PERSON!" I yelled. I started smacking my fists into his back. It definitely did something.
The man through me off his back and onto the hard ground. I barely missed the ground with my head.
I quickly got back up and put a fist in front of my heart and a fist in front of my face. My taekwondo position.
"Leave. Me. Alone." I warned.
Keona just rolled her eyes and smirked. "This'll be interesting."
Before I could ask what she meant, she jumped at me.
I wasn't ready for that. "EEP!" I squeaked.
Somehow, I fell backwards as she just barely missed me.
I shook myself and stood back up, getting into my position again.
She whirled around and smiled evilly. I saw her hand bunch up and launch at me. I knew where she was aiming.
I did a high block over my forehead as her hand slammed into my arm. I shook in pain from the attack, but there was no way I wasn't going to fight.
Keona stepped back. "Hmm. A fighter."
She threw a punch at my chest. I did a...middle block? I didn't remember the name of it. It's where my arm went in front of my chest and was up and down, kinda like a man...flexing?...his muscles in front of him.
Her hand once again slammed into my arm.
I squeaked a bit at the contact, but I didn't want to stop. This was actually a little fun.
(Yes. Even if my sister is in a dangerous situation, if she gets to punch things, she'll think it's fun. xD)
Unfortunately, I had forgotten about the man behind me.
He tackled me to the ground. I screamed slightly as I fell to the ground, my stomach aching from the sudden attack by the floor. He yanked my hands behind me.
I heard clicking and something went on my wrists.
Handcuffs!
The man yanked me back up on my feet. Keona began pacing back and forth, her lips moving like she was talking.
I yanked against the man and the cuffs, but nothing happened. I was stuck and helpless.
Keona looked back towards me, but...something was different.
I froze in fear. Her eyes. They weren't green anymore. They were red.
Keona? smiled crazily. "EHEHEHEHE! Let's get going, shall we?"
I was too terrified at the sudden change in person to fight back. I went along silently.
Oh, Becca. If you're ok, please...hurry.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sorry if sucks a bit. I kinda got writer's block halfway through and I REALLY want to keep to my schedule. So yeah.
There's also a subject I'd like to talk about. Me, in particular. I seem to always be in my books, right? Well...I can assure you that it's not to idolize myself. I find it SO MUCH EASIER to write a story if I'm in it. I guess it's just because I feel more...in tune with the story. So...if you happen to read any future books of mine, I'll most likely be either the main character or a major character. It's the only way that I'll be able to write a good story. :P
