Chapter X: My Resolve! [PART I]

A/N: I find it hilarious that the name of this chapter is somewhat ironic, considering this is my third time trying to make a reappearance. I won't make any promises because I have broken them too often. It's better to see how far my resolve takes me.

~THIRD PERSON POV~

"Hey, Luufy. Why the sad face?" asked Happy, standing beside Lucy. "Everyone seems so happy!"

"Yeah," Lucy said, her body language showing her mind was elsewhere.

Nashi saw Gajeel walking away from everyone.

"G-Gajeel! Tell me....where did you learn your Dragon Slayer magic?" asked Nashi.

"I can't hear nothing...." Gajeel replied as he continued walking away.

"This is the first time I've met anyone who can use the same magic as me! You can at least tell me that much!!" Nashi exclaimed.

Some members of the Fairy Tail turned to see their interaction.

"Did I hear it right? There's another Dragon Slayer user?" asked Wakaba.

"Shut up!" Gajeel said as he stopped walking.

"EH?!" Nashi exclaimed with teary eyes.

"Metalicana," said Gajeel, "The Steel Dragon Metalicana."

"WHAT!?" As she moved closer towards Gajeel, Nashi exclaimed, "So you were taught by a dragon too?!"

"You were too?" asked Gajeel.

"Where is he now?!" asked Nashi.

"Dunno," Gajeel sighed.

Nashi was perturbed and sighed.

"WHERE IS HE NOW?!" asked Nashi, moving closer towards Gajeel.

"I TOLD YOU, I DON'T KNOW," screamed Gajeel as he moved closer.

Both of them butted heads against each other. In the next moment, both of them turned away from each other and rubbed their sore forehead.

"Ow, Ow, Ow," Nashi said as she rubbed her forehead.

"Man... I feel like my brain's gonna turn to ash, talkin' to you," Gajeel said as he rubbed his forehead.

"He vanished," said Gajeel after a moment of silence, "Metalicana just suddenly left one day without so much as a word. Man. Talk about a selfish bastard....." He sighed as he looked towards the sky.

Nashi's eyes widen.

"H-Hold on! That wasn't seven years ago on July 7th, was it?!" asked Nashi, her heart beating fast at the new information.

"What?! You know where Metalicana is?!" asked Gajeel as he turned towards her in shock.

"Don't be stupid! I'm trying to find Igneel, a fire dragon!" retorted Nashi, "Igneel disappeared on July 7th, seven years ago too."

Gajeel's eyes widened.

"Two Dragons disappeared seven years ago...." Gajeel murmured, "On July 7th, 777?"

"What's with all the sevens?!" asked Nashi as she butted heads against Gajeel in frustration.

"How should I know?!" Gajeel butted back.

Again, both reflexively pulled their head back and rubbed their forehead together.

"Ow...." Nashi said.

"Kinda look like a brother and sister relation..." Cana whispered into Y/N's ear.

"Kinda does," Y/N said, watching their interaction.

"It doesn't matter to me, anyway," Gajeel said.

"If you're gonna leave, just do it already!" Nashi said, frowning at him.

"This is our guild! You're the one who has to leave!" Gajeel exclaimed.

"What a small-minded jerk," Nashi sighed.

"Get Lost!" Gajeel retorted.

"Let me know if you ever find out anything about Igneel," said Nashi.

"Why should I be nice to you?!" exclaimed Gajeel.

"We're both Dragon Slayers, after all," Nashi replied.

'We were just enemies minutes ago, Nashi,' Happy thought.

"SCREW YOU! Next time I see you, I'll destroy you! I swear it!" Gajeel screamed, "Just wait and see."

"Man, you're vicious," sighed Nashi.

The members watching this interaction sweatdropped. Y/N sighed and shook his head in response.

"I was thinkin' of making up with you now that we're even, too.." Nashi said with a pout.

"Who're you calling vicious?!" asked Gajeel, "You're the one who did this to our guild!"

"YOU guys wrecked our guild, too, you know!" Nashi exclaimed, "Argh! Forget it! I'm not making up with you after all!" Nashi pouted and walked away from him.

The members of Fairy Tail that were watching just looked at the two of them walking away from each other in confusion about what had just happened.

"Are all dragon slayers like this?" asked Erza, scratching her head.

"I suppose so since they're the only two we know," Y/N sighed.

~Ten Minutes Later~
FAIRY TAIL GUILD HEADQUARTERS

The entire Fairy Tail Guild was standing in front of the now-tattered remains of the guild. While most were sad about the guild being destroyed, some had no expression and were talking to their friends casually.

"They went to town on it this time," Makarov sighed.

"Master, I believe we must fix one more problem before we start the repairs," said Y/N with a sigh.

"Hmmm... I see that you noticed it, too," Makarov sighed, "You know what? I'm going to let you handle it. You guys are the closest, and I will make the ending remarks."

Y/N looked at Makarov, who was staring at him with a smile.

Y/N turned to Lucy, standing beside Nashi and looking at the ground with a sad face.

"Don't look so glum, Lu!" said a female voice. Lucy gasped as she looked towards her right to see Levy, followed by Jet and Droy. All three looked refreshed compared to when she last saw them in the Medical wing.

"We're back!" Levy exclaimed with a smile, "We all worked together for this great victory!"

"Even if the guild did get destroyed, we can rebuild it even better now!" exclaimed Droy.

"Everyone..." Lucy murmured, tears forming around her eyes.

"Sorry for worrying you, Lu," Levy said as she moved closer towards Lucy.

"N-No! It was all my-" "Lucy," Y/N interrupted, "You've been through a lot today, more than anyone can imagine." Lucy turned towards Y/N.

"We know what you're feeling, Lucy," said Y/N, "Whether you believe it or not, no one blames you for what happened. Although it doesn't hold for every bit of happiness or sadness, we still share some things to some extent. That's what it means to be a guild." Y/N looked at her with a smile.

"From what I've learned in the year that I've been in Fairy Tail," said Y/N, as he looked towards all the members who were standing looking back at him with a smile, "One person's happiness is everyone's happiness, One's anger is everyone's anger and one's tears will make everyone cry. There is no need to feel guilt-ridden. You are home; we're with you through the highs and lows. This is what it means to be in Fairy Tail," Y/N moved closer towards Lucy, as did the rest of the members, including Levy, who was now rubbing Lucy's back, a few tears forming around her eyes as well.

"Lucy," Makarov said with a smile. Lucy turned towards the guild master, trying to hold her tears back. "Our hearts have surely heard you. Lift your head high! You are a member of Fairy Tail, and you are not alone."

Lucy could not hold her tears back as she lifted her head to show tears falling down her face.

"Yes, Master Makarov!" Lucy exclaimed with pride but still crying.

"Don't cry, Lu, you'll make all of us cry," Levy said with a smile as she hugged Lucy while rubbing her back.

"Stupid, stop thinking about stupid things," said a teary-eyed Erza as she hugged Lucy, as did Mira and Cana.

~A WEEK LATER~
FAIRY TAIL CONSTRUCTION SITE OF THE NEW HEADQUARTERS

~LUCY's POV~

Calmness finally returned to us a week after our battle with the Phantom Guild.

The Rune Knights, the council's army, had come, and we were taken to a military post for questioning. Of course, many scared guild members tried to run but were convinced by Y/N and Master not to take such actions, as they would make us look like the bad guys in this situation.

Master Makarov and Y/N were taken away as a result of their calmness for a week while I was losing my mind, thinking they were going to jail. My extra imagination failed to come true as they only chatted with the council members due to our overwhelming evidence of Phantom Guild's action; some tea and biscuits were also involved.

And now, finally, things have calmed down. From the sounds of it, the council will shut down Phantom Guild while giving Fairy Tail a fair warning not to repeat their actions and let the authorities handle it.

We were lucky we had Y/N. He helped a lot with reverting all the damages to the surrounding buildings due to the fight. It almost looked like we were in a bubble that only damaged the Phantom and our guild; the rest looked spotless before the Rune Knights arrived.

But don't worry, Mom. I don't think we're in trouble yet. Or I don't think so. You never know. The council can be a bit wishy-washy with their rulings.

I remember Y/N's face when he said, "Don't worry, I got this." He said it with such confidence that nothing wrong would happen that it lessened my worries about the punishment we might face. After all, circumstantial evidence and eyewitness testimonies all point to the Phantom Guild destroying our base unprovoked and attacking many of our members.

I stopped writing at the sounds of birds chirping; I looked up to see a bigger bird feeding a small bird a worm.

Say, Mom. Do you think maybe he perpetrated all this behind the scenes?

Not even he'd go that far, would he?

I guess he would, huh? Without even a second thought...

I stopped writing as anger coursed through me at the thought of meeting him again before I continued writing.

But why does he suddenly want to drag me back now?

He doesn't give a damn about me.

Mom...He'd try it again, wouldn't he? He'd do the same thing, using his money.

I refuse to let that happen. I refuse to let Fairy Tail, my new home, be destroyed by his antics.

I hope you're watching over me, and I miss you, Mom.

Love,
Lucy

~THIRD PERSON POV~

FAIRY TAIL NEW HEADQUARTERS CONSTRUCTION SITE

Y/N was standing in front of the guild hall, a purple with a blue hue magic circle right under him. His eyes were glowing blue as building materials like wooden frames and planks flew in sections, building rooms upon rooms in each section. This led to magic scripts being written on each material; once that was settled, plastic pipes were flown in places requiring plumbing, like the bathrooms, showers, and medical areas that needed water.

"So we're carriers for this project, eh?" Silvia asked as she plopped down the wooden beams and planks.

SheElfman follows her in his beast form, carrying most of the materials.

"Well, not exactly. Someone must place the bricks after he's done. We'll do the layering of bricks and stuff," said Erza, "I believe he said he'll be done before lunch, so we have about an hour before most of it is completed."

"Let's take a small break, Y/N!" Mira exclaimed with a smile, carrying a tray filled with snacks and a jug filled with lemonade.

"Is that lemonade with mint I smell?" asked Y/N as the materials stopped and hovered in the air as Y/N turned his head.

"Yes, honey," Mira replied with her charming smile.

"Oooo," Y/N dusted off his pants as the blue glow in his eyes faded, moving towards Mira.

"We sure that stuff is not going to drop on the construction site?" asked Wakaba as he looked at the floating materials that were still floating when Y/N turned towards Mira.

"It won't," Y/N said after taking a big gulp of the lemonade.

"YAAAAAAAH!" Nashi exclaimed as she was carrying many wooden beams, "OUCH!" Suddenly, she fell under the weight of the many wooden beams.

"Oh, my..." Mira sweatdropped.

"That's what you get for tryin' to carry so much, moron," Silvia said as she walked by where Nashi fell.

"WHAT'D YOU CALL ME?!" Nashi exclaimed as she pushed the wooden beams off her in rage.

"You wanna fight?!" Silvia asked as they both butted heads against each other.

"Quit carrying them like a wimp!" Nashi retorted in response.

"AH!" Juvia exclaimed, hiding behind a wall, "Oh! Y/N-sama, my love! Please carry me, too!"

"I smell trouble," Cana said with a grin, crossing her arms.

"A fight?" asked Y/N as he turned towards her.

"No," Cana said, looking at her cards, "More so romance troubles." Cana grinned as the cards showed a love triangle.

Y/N looked at her with confusion, 'Romance troubles, eh?'

"Competition?" Asked Mira towards Cana, as she tilted her head. Her eyes were showing a burning desire to compete.

"Seems so," Cana replied.

"Can someone tell me what is going on?" asked Y/N as he finished the bun he was eating, looking at both women talking through their eyes.

"That's enough!" Ezra exclaimed as she slammed a wooden beam on Silvia and Nashi's heads, causing them to be buried in the ground. "Work with your bodies, not your mouth! We need to rebuild Fairy Tail as soon as possible!" Erza was wearing a beige construction suit paired with boots and a construction hat on her head.

"Aye..." Silvia and Nashi groaned as only their heads were sticking out from the ground.

"Erza's rarin' to go," one Fairy Tail member said.

"She can requip into those clothes too?" another member asked.

Meanwhile, on the finished side of the foundation and construction side, Y/N completed with only the brick layering left. Makarov used his Giant Magic to lay the roofing and bricks on the tall areas. At the same time, the other members were working alongside Makarov on Brick layering.

"Master is getting into the spirit, too!" Levy exclaimed as she directed Droy and Jet to the areas needing the bricks.

"More like big-time!" Both of them exclaimed in shock at Makarov's size.

"Y/N, where do I leave this lumber?!" asked Erza while carrying the lumber.

"Just by that lumber pile over there," Y/N said as they stood up to continue working while pointing at a pile with all the lumber.

"Damn! I can't stand being beaten!" Nashi and Silvia exclaimed in frustration.

"Yay! It's like a whack-a-mole!" Happy exclaimed happily as he pointed at both of them.

[A/N: Happy Question Part 2 - If we make Happy put on a smile, does that mean he's happy or does the fact that his happiness is related to the amount of joy he feels in a happy situation to be happy suggest he's happy? Or does his correlation with putting a smile on his face mean he's unhappy, so his happiness is not related to the happy situation because now he's unhappy in a happy situation?]

"But, y'know..." said Macao sweatdropping.

"Isn't it a little too big?" asked Wakaba.

"We decided to remodel it while we're at it!" Mira exclaimed as she held a blueprint before her, "This is a concept sketch of the finished version!" Showing the blueprint with a crude drawing of what the finished building would look like.

"Really?" asked Wakaba.

"Let's see that," Loke, who suddenly appeared and moved closer towards the blueprint, "Because it was just fine the way it was...I wonder what it's going to be like?"

He examined the blueprint drawing, trying to make sense of the problematic, crude drawing of the finished concept.

"Wow..." Macao sweatdropped.

"Surely is something else...." said Wakaba nervously.

"I-I don't understand it..." Loke said," still looking at the drawing, "Man, this sketch sucks. What idiot drew this junk?" asked Loke, looking at Mira, who was looking back at him with a smile.

Suddenly, she turned around and started crying, tears falling down her face.

"O-Oh, it was you, Mira?!" Loke looked around nervously.

"LOKE!" came the loud voice of enraged Y/N. Loke turned around to see Y/N glaring at him with his glowing blue eyes.

"You made a woman cry again," Wakaba and Macao said with a sigh.

"Y-Y/N, it was a mistake, I swear!" Loke exclaimed as he started running towards town.

"That's Loke for you," Happy sighed as he shook his head.

"It's okay, Mira, I love that drawing," Y/N said as a clone started running towards Loke, "I understand it perfectly. See, I've put the building materials just the way you wanted.

"Oooooh, how I wish dearest Y/N were just as comforting!" Juvia pouted with teary eyes.

"THAT'S NOT HOW I AM, OW!" Loke exclaimed as he was hurled into the sea.

~ONE HOUR LATER, LUNCH TIME~

"I'm starving!" Nashi yelled, sitting on a pile of rocks next to Y/N.

"Aye!" Happy exclaimed.

'Stupid cat did nothing but laze around,' grumbled a hangry Y/N, who was hungry, which caused him to be angry.

Suddenly, a burst of water moved towards them that neither noticed. It hit Nashi and Happy while dropping a pink three-stack lunch box on Y/N's lap.

"What was that?!" Nashi asked.

"We're soaking wet!" Happy exclaimed, "Bentos!" He pointed towards Y/N's lap.

"Bento? From whom?" asked Y/N as he opened the bento to reveal rice shaped in his face, with assorted vegetables and four cutlets on the first level with the words 'L-O-V-E' on each cutlet.

"Huh," Y/N said, "Well, that certainly narrows it down to who it could be, though it does look delicious."

"OH! Looks tasty!" Nashi exclaimed.

"I recognize this! This is called a 'character lunch'!" Happy explained.

"Kinda insane, she made this much," Y/N said as he started eating the first layer.

'Juvia is happy! She spent three days straight making that!' Juvia thought, tears of joy flowing down her cheeks, hiding behind an unfinished wall.

"Delicious," Y/N said loudly.

"Let me have it too!" Nashi exclaimed, drooling at the food.

"Who said it was time to eat?!" Erza exclaimed from behind Y/N.

All three turned to see Erza looking at the bento box with interest.

"Oh, is that one of those character lunches?" Erza asked as she looked at the bento. She stabbed straight through Y/N's character in the lunch box; Y/N's eyes widened in surprise, looking at Ezra nervously.

Juvia, stalking Y/N from behind the wall, had tears as her imagination started thinking of various scenarios.

"It's great! I want this every day!" exclaimed Y/N in Juvia's head.

"So please marry me," said Y/N in his deep voice.

"Yes! We can have thirty babies or so!" Juvia said in her head.

"Juvia is touched!" Juvia exclaimed with her heart-eyes, looking at Y/N in the real world.

"Hey guys, we brought food!" Mira said behind her were Cana, Silvia and Elfman.

"Huh?" Mira stopped as she stared at the bento box, and Y/N said, "Honey.....who gave you that bento?" asked Mira with a dangerous smile.

"Think you might know her already, considering your chat with Cana," Y/N said matter-of-factly.

"Ah," Cana sighed, "You do realize what this means, right?" asked Cana, staring at Y/N with a pout.

"Well, I'm not there, yet," Y/N said with a sigh, looking at the box, "But at least she's making an effort, it's all up to her now to make the first appearance."

------

A/N: Yes, yes, I know it's a cliffhanger, but well, you'll get over it.

Thanks for all the comments on asking for an update; you motivated me to start writing again. Like I said, I won't promise anything. We'll see how far I can continue writing. Thank you for sticking around. I hope we can finish this book in a year or two. I will try my best. I have a lot of catching up to do on the story.

Peace!
