Part 8
Abigail's POV
It felt like I was asleep for centuries. What shocked me most was it felt as though I could not open my eyes. Yet I could feel others touching me, not in an inappropriate way but as if they were afraid I was sick or ill. I don't know what happened but one day I found freedom. My eyes blinked open and I could tell the sun was up and high in the sky. Not expecting anyone else to be there I was surprised to see the new doctor asleep in the bed beside me. Trying to not make any noise I slipped from the bed and tried to stand.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you. You were taken to bed for quite a long time. So many thing have happened since you slept sleeping beauty." he tells me as he picks me up and puts me back in bed.
"What are you talking about? What has happened? Where is Sarah and James?" I questioned as I looked about the room confused as to what happened and how long I was asleep for.
"Sarah has re married, to that Sam person I believe. You were moved, to my home as it were and you have rested for close to a month. I was able to provide your nourishment through a new scientific discovery." he tells me and I see what looks like a weird IV something told me I didn't want to know.
"What was wrong with me? How could I have slept for so long?" the doctor looks at me and daringly take my hand as if trying to comfort me. "Please tell me all that I missed."
The doctor who now for some reason preferred that I call him Jason began to tell me about John and Angelica, apparently they had a relationship but something was off. Somehow John was accused of being a witch and had casted a spell upon me to make me sleep until he was finished with his task. That made no sense but I had nothing to say. Apparently though Amber and Emily came to visit me often and made sure that the doctor I mean Jason never left my side. A new young woman had come as well, one that dared to try and take on Angelica. Her name was Relia, a name I had never heard before.
"Either way you decided to wake up just in time, Emily and Amber should be here any moment for their daily check on you." Jason tells me as he stands up.
"My cousin just abandoned me to live with a new man? Well that shows gratitude doesn't it? Must look odd to have a single woman living with a new older doctor." I said as looked to him as he stopped mid step to look back at me.
"I had to come up with a story for that as well. Forgive me for lying so I was able to treat you." he tells me and I can't help but raise my eye brow at his statement.
"What story may I ask?" I say just as the door opens and in walks Emily and Amber.
Of course now the good doctor has a good reason to leave the room leaving me alone with the two white witches. Knowing I could trust them I slowly sat up as Emily came to my right side and Amber to my left. They both smiled at me as if they were hiding a funny little secret. This was odd to me but I decided I would play their little game.
"What has you two in such high spirits?" I ask them as I giggle as well.
"Why didn't you tell us of your relationship with the good doctor?" Amber asked with a big smile.
"Relationship? What are you talking about?" I ask looking between the two of them.
"He told the town that the reason he took you in was that he intended to marry you. Of course since that was the case we allowed him to take you here so Sarah's old home could be sold." Emily said.
Marry him?! I barely know the man and now everyone in this crazy town thinks I am engaged to him! Oh boy did he have a lot of explaining to do. Emily told me that John had disappeared and that the Reverend left to Boston not that I would really bother to know why he left. Apparently family matters though at least that is what Emily told me. Apparently I missed a lot...including my own engagement.
"Well you need your rest. We'll make sure to visit tomorrow." Amber said as she and Emily walked out of the door.
"Oh doctor!" I call out as I jump from my bed and walk right out to see him messing around with some odd liquid in three bottles and he barely looked up at me. "You have a lot of explaining to do."
Sighing he puts down his work and stands as he looks me right in the eyes. What was it about his eyes that made all my anger want to be washed away? Carefully he walked my way as if he were stepping on egg shells. Once standing right before me he almost looked embarrassed. Taking a deep breath he began to speak.
"They would not have allowed me to treat you let alone keep you alive if I did not have a relationship with you. I can imagine you are very upset but then I wish you could see it from my point of view." he starts expecting me to be mad.
"Fine I understand, still we barely knew one another. How did people not question you? Including the dear Reverend?" I say as he looks at me surprised and confused.
"He left a short while after you fell asleep. No one else knew that we had just met. Therefore I was able to convince others we were closer than what we are." he explains to me.
After his words there was a knock on the door. Perfect timing if you ask me. Jason went to the door and opened it quickly to reveal Angelica with a big grin on her face. Something told me that I didn't want to know what she was smiling about. Once she looked over at me it looked as though she were happy to see I was alive and well.
"Well I am happy to see your bride his finally awoken. I do so hope the wedding takes place soon. Salem could use a happy occasion to celebrate." Angelica says as she looks from me to the doctor.
