Part 5
Abigail's POV
That night, Sarah and James slept while my mind was running a million miles a minute. Sam actually called me out on being a witch. Lucky for me Sarah told Sam right away that there was no way I was a witch. After that he just nodded to her as if he understood what she was saying. Still I had an uneasy feeling.
"Fred calling Abigail. Are you there?" My necklace goes off with Fred's voice coming through loud and clear.
"Oh thank goodness. You need to explain some of this white witch things to me. I am clueless." I tell him with a frustrated sigh.
"Yeah change of plans there. You are more of an element that anything. You can use and control the element of earth as long as you wear the necklace you have on now. Be warned though the white witches will be the only ones who will help you so seriously get to them and show them your powers. Over and out." Fred tells me ending our conversation just like that.
Great, I'm not actually a witch but an element. Whatever in the world that meant. Still Fred told me I could control the element of earth. Great what do I do make a tree's vines trip someone? Wait, that isn't a bad idea. I need to test these new powers. Dawn was just breaking as I walked out the door pulling my hood over my head. I didn't need people watching me if they were out.
Walking close to the woods I see a sort of clearing and two women standing there as if they were waiting for me. Against my better judgement I decided to go up to them. To my shock it's just like Fred said. The midwife and Amber were sitting in front of a fire. They noticed me immediately. Instead of chasing me away though like I thought they would have instead they smiled and invited me to join them.
"Sam told us about you. We should have know you are like us." the midwife tells me as she pokes the fire with a stick.
"Well I've only been told I am an element. Not a witch exactly." I tell them but Amber smiles at me.
"Elements are very kind and trusting. You aren't the first one I have met. Though when they do show themselves it's usually for a bad reason." Amber says now looking at me concerned. "Are you here because of a certain dark witch trying to sacrifice all of Salem?"
Really it's suppose to be me and Hannah yet here I am all on my own. Was Hannah alright? Shouldn't she have been sent here now as well? I couldn't lose track now, I had to focus. No matter what I had to stick with my mission no matter what distractions there was.
"Yes, that is why I am here. I am sorry I did not reveal myself to you two. To be honest I don't know who I can trust in this town." I say honestly as I look to the fire.
"We are the last two white witches of this town. Anyone else is usually associated with well the dark ones." the midwife says as she then looks at me. "I'm Emily so no need to worry about calling me midwife."
Emily and Amber were my two witch allies. Sarah and James were the two people I wanted to keep as far away from this situation as possible. The sun was finally up and our talk was ending. We all started on the path back to the town. Most people were up getting their day started as well. Bakers were baking such a sweet smelling bread that my stomach began to growl.
"Skipped breakfast Miss Abigail?" a male voice asks from behind me, turning around I see John looking at me with a smirk on his face.
"Do you make it a habit to follow others all the time?" I question him but he doesn't reply instead he goes to the bakers stand and buys a roll then hands it to me.
"Peace offering? After all you could use a bit more meat on your bone." he tells me with a sly grin.
"She looks healthy to me. Still John what are you doing up this early? Usually we don't see you before noon." Emily says as we continue to walk with John beside me.
"I came looking for Miss Abigail. Angelica wants to introduce Abigail to her husband." John says with a shrug as he looks forward.
Angelica's husband? That man must have been desperate or drunk to marry that crazy evil woman. Nodding my head I begin to follow John when he surprises me and offers me his arm. Smiling I take his kind gesture not sure when I would ever see one from him again. We arrive at our destination. A cold dark and grey house. THe place practicly screams "I'm Evil!". John knocks on the door and a younger African American woman opens the door.
"We're here to see Angelica. I have brought miss Abigail as well just as requested." John says as the woman allows us to come inside.
Though the house was decorated beautifully it still felt like walking into the lions den. Looking around there were beautiful painting and anything from the color of the paint to the shade of wood that the furniture was screamed expensive even for this time. We didn't have to wait long for Angelica came downstairs wearing a bright red dress.
"Oh how kind of you to escort her John though I am sure she could have done so herself." Angelica says leading us into the drawing room.
"I prefer to remain with her as a promise to her cousin." he tells her though I know that is the biggest lie ever.
Once we were in the drawing room I saw an older man who had to be really old. I was surprised he was still alive. His head was sunk down and I could even tell he was drooling. Doing my best to stop myself from throwing up I look back to Angelica as if that would help out.
"This is Franklin. He has taken ill of recent. I am sure just your presence here should cheer him up though." Angelica says forcing his head up.
Our eye make contact and before I even know what's happening it's like I have a vision. I see the poor man tied down to his chair while Angelica pours something over his body making it age faster than normal. The man screamed and cried out for help but no one came to him. With a blink of my eyes the vision was over. Looking around my eyes tried to focus again. Her husband was under a spell, a really nasty one at that.
"Forgive him it appears he needs his medicine and then a bath before he takes his nap." Angelica says as she motions for the other woman to wheel him away. "I hear talk that your cousin perhaps might be a witch."
Sarah? A witch? There was no way, unless this was a trick or even a threat...
