Part 4
Abigail's POV
Just a little after dawn I finally walked out of the birthing house and into the streets. There I see the Reverend and the man with silver hair talking to one another, well at least they were until they saw me. Curiosity got the best of them I suppose as the motioned for me to come and join them. I knew the Reverend but I had no idea who the other man was so I was pretty sure that was the only reason I walked over to them. To find out who the mystery man was.
"Ah Miss Abigail this is Magistrate Watson. He is one of the leader in this town." Reverend says introducing the Magistrate to me then quickly looking over to him. "This is Sarah Brothstone's cousin. She has come to help until Philip Brothstone returns from the war."
"Of course, Welcome to Salem my dear. We hope you will love our town as much as we do." Magistrate Watson says as he takes my hand and kisses it, well I needed to bathe anyway.
"It is quite a wonderful town, full of wonder and mystery." I reply only to earn a simple smile from him as he turns to walk away but there stands John and he doesn't look happy either.
Something told me there was a history between these two. One I wasn't sure I really wanted to know at this point since each looked like they wanted to murder the other. Not that it would be hard to do in this time period. Just watching one another the magistrate walks past John. Looking to the ground then to me John seems to notice I just saw what happened. We heard another door open looking to see where from we look behind me to see Angelica walk out of her house wearing all black.
"She would do well in the Adams family." I mumble to myself.
Angelica was walking our way and I could sense the darkness and evil flowing from her. I knew that Fred told me I was a white witch but I had no idea what that meant. Did that mean I had supernatural powers or what? Angelica finally reached us and looked between the three of us. Oh this woman was nothing but bad news and she had a creepy factor of ten as well.
"Good morning everyone. Up earlier than usual are we Abigail?" she says looking right at me.
"I was busy in the birthing house last night. Needless to say I was just returning to my cousins home." I reply which earned shocked looks from all of them.
"Yes dear Amber. I heard she was with child. Was it a boy or girl? What did she name it?" the Reverend said speaking up this time.
"A girl, she named her Abigail after me." I tell them honestly.
Each of them look confused and shocked another thing that was common but it didn't seem to effect me that much. Reverend finally smiled and nodded his head in agreement politely. John just shrugged and smile the smallest smile I had ever seen from one human. Angelica however didn't look so happy.
"Does your name have a meaning?" Angelica asks me with a snobbish attitude.
"I do not know, my mother never told me for she died not longer after giving birth to me." I lie to her just because I am tired of these little games she plays.
Angelica puts her hand over her mouth to hide her shock. As if I would believe that. Honestly her performance wouldn't even get a golden globe nomination. Still I was tired and I just wanted to sleep. Yet they continued to talk. Yawning I could actually feel myself grow weaker. Then my eyes decided to give in and everything went black.
When I opened my eyes again I knew I was at Sarah's house...then again maybe not. These houses tend to look a lot alike. I could hear someone snoring to the left of me. Looking over I was very surprised to see John asleep in a chair. What in the world was he doing here? I crawl over to the left side of the bed and put my hand on his leg. His eyes open right away.
"What are you doing here?" I question him and he just shakes his head.
"You fainted, I told you to watch yourself yet you fainted right into my arms." he tells me with a chuckle. "If you wanted me to hold you-"
"Oh please, is that a line you use on every woman you meet?" I say as I stand up and walk to the changing screen and begin to get dressed.
"Never let me down before." he replies with a laugh and I can see him look my way.
Rolling my eyes I quickly get dress in a dark green dress and seem to have a bit of trouble with the last three pins. Sighing I look over to John who tries to look about the room but finally his eyes look my way.
"Make yourself useful and help me with these last three buttons." I tell him.
He stands up and walks my way, after and annoyed sigh of course and begins to help me with the dress. His fingers however were a bit too large to help with the buttons so it took the poor man multiple tries just to get them into their rightful place. After that I let my hair fall down my back and turn to face him. Looking into his eyes I had a feeling I had seen this look before. Thomas had this look once. Yes I admit Thomas did look a bit weaker than John but a part of me including my heart told me to keep my guard up around this man.
"All finished?" he question as he kept his eyes upon mine.
Why do I get the feeling this guy is looking a bit too deep into my eyes. It's like he's trying to read me. Barely able to look away I hear the front door open and then close. That snaps both of us back to reality. John looks at me and then winks as he walks out of the room.
"Well missy, I would say John has something for our little white witch." I hear Fred's voice through the necklace.
"Fred? Really you have horrible timing. What do you need?" I ask as I sigh.
"That woman you helped last night, the midwife and the new mother. They are both white witches. Get into their group and nothing will be able to stop the three of you." Fred tells me and now I have a new goal to make.
"Got it, I will go and talk to them now." I say as I begin to walk out of the room and to the main room just in time to see Sarah talking to another young man.
This young man seemed to be more I would call it skittish. No matter how much Sarah tried to calm him he just seemed to be on edge like he was hiding from something or someone at that. I walked forward to them to make my presence known.
"Oh Sam this is my cousin Abigail. Don't worry she's friendly." Sarah says as I nod to Sam.
"Pleasure to meet you Sam." I tell him.
"You...you are the good witch." he tells me as he looks me dead in the eyes.
