Chapter 4

Hannah's POV

Walking into Rome was like walking into a memory I never wanted to remember. I had been through horrible circumstances when I was last here. If it wasn't for Abigail I probably wouldn't have made it out alive. Standing before Aro's home, I began to wonder if I would receive a warm welcome. Aro probably didn't even remember me. Taking a deep breath, I knocked on the large marble door, within just a few moments a servant opened the door and greeted me, showing me inside the large house.

"I am here to speak with Aro, is he here?" I question though I already knew he was in the house.

"I was told to bring you to his sister, Petra, they had been told of your coming ahead of time. Please follow me." The woman spoke with a small but kind smile as she showed me the way.

White linen curtains flowed through the house, the breeze was light and quite enjoyable. Once we arrived at the room, the servant pushed the curtains aside and there stood Petra holding young Diana close to her body. Though she was only her aunt, Petra took her role seriously. She was hushing the child and trying to get her to sleep it appeared. Though Diana had been away from Ab's for two years I went back to when Diana was still but a baby.

"She still wants her mother, I am not her mother and she knows this." Petra tells me without even looking my way.

"If she could be here, I know she would be. Is there anyway I can speak with your brother? It is a very urgent matter that I must tell him." I reply trying not to alarm her.

Hearing a man clear his throat, I look to the chair that faces away from me. There aro stands up and walks to Petra. She can see that he wants his child and for her to leave so that he could talk to me. Without a single word, Petra smiled and kisses Diana on her forehead before handing her over to Aro and leaving the room with the servant not far behind her.

"Diana looks just like her mother, her eyes are the same as hers." Aro says looking down at the baby. "Tell me what you must Hannah, I remember much but not everything. I know why my wife, the mother of my child isn't here. If you hadn't taken her to your time to have the baby I now hold in my hands and my heart, she would have died and for that I am grateful."

"Abigail is awake, not to return to you unfortunately but to try and take down a enemy from our past, one she fears maybe able to come to this time and hurt either you or Diana." I tell him and he looks up from the babe to me.

"That is why you are here, to protect us from this person. Do you believe I have cause to worry for the safety of my only child?" Aro questioned me.

That was the problem, I knew Abigail was the best agent I had ever seen but I wasn't sure how evil Angelica was. I knew that she was a witch and in my experience I had never met a truly good witch. Still I knew that I had to keep Aro calm that way I could stay and protect both him and the baby.

"I have no doubt that Abigail will catch the culprit and take them down before they even have a chance to come to this time to threaten your life or that of your child's." I reply confident in my answer.

Nodding Aro lays the now sleeping babe back in her what I would call crib before turning to me and showing me the face of a weak man. I stood confused, Ab's had always spoken about how strong Aro was and that he would never show weakness to anyone, especially her.

"I fear that I too have bad news to share with you Hannah, news that will affect both Abigail and Diana. News of which I cannot control any longer." Aro sighs as he looks to me.

Abigail's POV

Egypt is still as hot as ever. I did miss the history and a few of the people. This was after I had left the first time that I was here. So hopefully I still had allies. At least that is what I was praying. Looking to John who was looking around confused, I grabbed his hand and held it tight. We were in the middle of the city, we had to get to find Nahkt. I knew his wife would still be pregnant at this time and would also want prayers to the fertility god.

"This way." I tell him as I pull him along with me.

John nods and grips my hand as well. Going through the crowd of people began to bring back memories of the past that I now had here. Once at the temple, I could see all the women praying hoping for a healthy baby boy or girl. They were chanting their prayers to the statue of the god before them, with full hope that their prayers would be heard. Leaning against the column I looked through the group of men and then I saw Nahkt's wife, whose name I just realized I had either never asked or forgotten.

"Stay here, I know someone who maybe able to help us." I tell John who looks skeptical but nods.

Going through the group, I finally make it to Nahkts wife who the moment she sees me smiles and hugs me. This was the not the reaction I was expecting. Pulling me out of the main room and into one of the halls she smiles and laughs.

"I thought I would never see you again, it is good to see a familiar face among all the news ones." She smiles as John then walks up and holds my hand. "He's not the one you were with last time...has something happened?"

"Wait, you said the new faces? Has the Pharaoh accepted new people into his court?"

"I am not really supposed to tell but I don't like what is happening in the palace. I fear for my life, my child's and for Nahkt. " she tells me as she looks around almost with fear in her eyes.

"You can trust me, what has happened since I have been gone?"

"A new woman appeared, she must have some magic or something, she has charmed all the council members, the guard and I fear she will go after the pharaoh next. Nahkt has barely been able to keep away from her." She speaks sadly as a tear escapes her eye.

"What does she look like?" John now questions her.

"Uh she has long, black curly hair, speaks a language none of us can understand and has shown her power of making people obey her. The queen was quite impressed, the pharaoh looked at her unsure what to think, I look at her with fear."

Taking her hand in mine, I lead her away from the room. Looking her right in the eyes I knew I had to make sure that she would be on my side. I at least needed her to be with me on this.

"I promise you, you and your baby are safe. In order to stop this woman though I have to see her, I have to talk to Nahkt and the pharaoh. Can you help me do that?"

Nodding she cleared her eyes and gained her composure.

"Be careful of her guard though, the man may look small and helpless but I have seen him kill two men with his bare hands." She tells me as she begins to show us the way back to the palace.

How could Angelica have a guard? She left the last time period with no one, could she have stopped in another time period and seduced some man to be her loyal lover and slave maybe? I didn't know what to think, John gripped my hand as we made our way to the palace, unsure what would happen now. All we knew was Angelica's powers were getting stronger which meant we were running out of time.
