Chapter 10

Hannah's POV

Aro is growing weaker by the day, I feel conflicted. Abigail should be here, but I know her focus is on more important things. Petra keeps watch over little Diana and Aro keeps to his room. He conducts all business in there and when he cannot the doors are always closed. Unable to keep silent any longer I decide to break a rule and go into his room. Once at the doors, I can hear Aro coughing, it wasn't a soft cough either. It would loud and violent only one disease came to my mind as I pushed the doors open. I had all my shots, so I needed not to worry about getting what he had.

Aro was in his bed, laying back and cloth in hand. Said cloth has blood upon it. I knew the disease, but I think he knew more than even I knew. Sitting up and looking my way Aro sighed.

"There is nothing to be done, I declined much faster than I thought I would." Aro says as he tries to take a small drink of water.

"Your daughter will not see you when she grows, I may have a way to give her a memory or two of you she can always look back to." I tell him and Aro nods as I walk up and give him a shot.

"What was that?" he questions as he looks shocked.

"It will give you strength, you need to tell Diana how you met her mother, your wedding and the day she was born. I can record them as what I showed you with Abigail before. A hologram of you will appear and tell her these stories, I am afraid this is all I can do to help you." I confess.

Aro nods and as the medicine takes affect he stands and looks at me, giving me quick nod letting me know that he was ready. Pressing the button on my watch he began his story to an older version of his daughter, one he would never meet.

"My dearest Diana do not be sad my child, I am going to share three stories with you that you can always look back upon. Though I may not be with you in body, I shall always be with you in spirit and in your heart. I met your mother when she was here in my time on a mission, I was given a task by my own brother to keep her safe. Little did I know the moment I would see her, I would fall deeply in love with her." Aro grins as he continues to tell his story.

He tells the first story and we take a small break, the second story made me dislike his father which no doubt meant that Diana would hate her grandfather in the future. He spoke of how brave Abigail was and that she was willing to do anything for the ones she held close to her heart, including freeing his brother Hermes. At the end of the last recording he smiled again and gave Diana one last message.

"Remember my dear, I love you and your mother with all of my heart. Even if another does raise you in my place, do not be angry with them. Love them and your mother just as much as I love you. Until we meet again Diana." Aro says weakly as he blows a kiss to Diana.

I shut the recording off and Aro fell into bed. I helped him get comfortable. Soon he was fast asleep, and I sent the file to Fred to be separated and in waiting for Diana when she was older. This was one of the hardest missions I had and yet I could find it in my heart to betray Aro's trust and tell Abigail of her dying husband.

Abigail's POV

This was it. The day to expose the witch for what she truly was. The others had gone, and I knew what was happening long before Abigail did. Dressing in the outfit I wore in the woods, to convince that hunter I was the witch. I made my way to the center of the town. There stood Angelica all high and mighty and there in the gallows was my other white witch friend, the doctor looking right at me.

"Witch!" I scream at the top of my lung and that gets everyone attention.

Last night things were much different...

Sitting in my room I shared with Jason I wondered if this would work of it somehow Angelica and Montgomery would already know about our plans. The door behind me creaked opened and I turned to see Jason disheveled. He was unbuttoning his shirt and his eyes were right on me. John was out making sure that we had four graves instead of two as Angelica had instructed him.

"Once this is done, your mission, you will leave again." Jason says as he walks up to me and caresses my hair.

I think I knew what he was thinking, and I didn't know what to tell him. Kneeling, Jason turned me to face him, not hard or harsh but in a kind and gentle way. He wanted my attention and I gave it to him.

"Abigail, I love you, I have never let anyone hurt you..." Jason spoke softly as he leaned in and gently pressed his lips against mine.

The soft texture of his lips drew me in. Jason pulled me into his lap and kissed me deeper. I still loved him more than I could say but I knew there was nothing for us after we completed this mission. He knew that as well, yet he kissed me deeper as he picked me up and carried me to the bed.

The next morning, I sat on the end of the bed looking into the fire. The sun was barely rising as I looked behind me as Jason slept soundly. Was this the last night he would sleep soundly? I wondered as I stood up and carefully walked over to his side. Hearing the wood bend under my feet, Jason woke up and turned my way. Sitting up in the bed, the sheet fell revealing his naked chest. He reached his hand out and gently caressed my own.

"This is it, this is the day we end the threat to you and your family." He says as he pulls me into his arms.

"What if this doesn't work? What if they know what we are up to?" I question Jason with tears in my eyes.

"They don't, it will work I swear. Have faith my love and all will end well." Jason comforts me as he pats my back. "I have to go, you know what happens to me. Save me."

Jason gives me a long kiss before grabbing his things and leaving the room. I quickly got up and got dressed as well.

That was then, now I was standing before a crowd of people telling them that their most beloved town person was a witch...what could go wrong? Angelica scoffed as she looked to the magistrate who continued the sentencing.

"You old, wicked witch who hides behind vanity and death." I yell at them as John sneaks up behind Jason and Amber, my white witch friend.

"You dare to accuse me of witchcraft?" Angelica laughs as I walk up to the stage.

"I gave no name, you accused yourself." I whisper as I walk up right behind her.

"You woman are the coward, hiding behind a mask yourself." Angelica says as she grabs my mast and reveals my identity. "You...I knew it, I knew you were a witch."

Repeating the incantation that Fred gave me the first time, Angelica's beauty quickly faded as she looked around and heard nothing but gasps from the townsfolk as well as her own fellow witches.

"I am not a witch, I was granted my gift by the greater good. You sold your soul for your and you will always be ugly." I tell her as Jason and Sarah make their move.

Amber takes her noose and puts it on Will, meanwhile Jason puts his noose around Montgomery's neck. Both of my friends bind Will and Montgomery's hands behind their backs. They struggled as they looked to Angelica and the magistrate for help but neither of them moved. Or so I thought, the magistrate could see there was trouble and made a run for it but John appeared and threw the noose around the magistrates neck before he could get far. Pulling him back up to the gallows, Angelica watched in horror at the show before her.

"You should take your place too." I tell her as I take my rope and put it around her neck. "People of Salem you have been fooled and bewitched. These that stand before you are your true enemy and I now condemn them to death."

Throwing the rope over the gallows and tying it off. Each of the four of us take our places before the four condemned. Jason stood before the queen witch, lady Montgomery. Amber stood before Will who kept trying to charm her. John stood before the magistrate and I stood before Angelica.

"You will regret this." Montgomery spoke up.

Turning to her, I narrowed my eyes at her...she was the culprit, but I couldn't prove it until after she returned from the dead. Looking to the pole that would release the ground below them, I kick it and activate it. The ground falls from beneath the four of them and all of them hang. None of their necks broke first so they all suffered.

"Now, Justice had been served." I say as I turn and see the townspeople walking away.

Their thirst had been quenched. Mine was only half full. Looking to Jason I can see him starring at Montgomery. He was watching as she didn't move at all, was she dead though? All we could do was wait until the others took their last breath.

"Abigail, I have to get home. Thank you for all you've done." Amber said as she gave me a long hug then headed home.

"This should quench the thirst for the moment." John sighs as we both look to Jason. "Doc, what's wrong?"

Jason looks up at us surprised we called out to him.

"She hasn't moved at all, yet I did not hear the sound of her neck breaking." Jason says confused as he walks up to us.

"Maybe she is pretending so we will let her down?" I comment as John shrugs.

"Maybe but I suggest she is the last we take down." He tells us, and we all agree.
