Part 20
I knew nothing about Ancient Roman weddings, I will be the first one to admit that. Thankfully though I had Petra and by marrying Aro I would hopefully be able to go more places throughout Rome and find this third person I was suppose to bring back to the future with me. Little did I know that meant I had a whole day of Petra doing nothing but explaining to me the traditions of marriage here. Apparently sacrifice is involved. No seriously it is look it up. Just a small animal to a certain god who I believe was Juno the god of Marriage. I hope I am getting this right or Petra will kill me and explain again.
"The dress and ceremony will be held in private but you will walk out and be introduced as husband and wife after that and well then go preform you marital duties after that." Petra explains as she continues to make finishing touches on the dress.
"What about the uh killing of the small helpless animal to appease the gods?" I ask sarcastically.
"You will do that the day before the ceremony which would be today." Petra says as she finally allows me to change back into my what you would call noble dress. "Your dallory and everything is made up, Aro did that so you wouldn't have to worry if someone did manage to ask you that."
Well Aro seemed to know what he was doing and he had kept me safe so far so what reason did I have not to trust him? Walking out of the room we went to appease the gods, against my will I may add.
Aro's POV (Bet That surprised you!)
A few hours after we had appeased the gods as Abigail called it I was in my study making sure anything that any Roman would ask Abigail she had an answer to. Needless to say that was not an easy task at all. Making up fake parents as well as a fake dallory was not something I had planned to do but ended up doing anyway. I didn't want anyone to be suspicious of her. Just then I heard the doors to my study open and I was expecting to hear Petra's voice but was surprised to here Ares was the one who had come to speak with me.
"My Lord may I speak with you honestly for a moment?" Ares asked as he walked in tall and proud not intimidated by me at all.
"Ares, You are a friend of both Hermes and Abigial so I see no need to use titles and if you need to speak with me then do so whenever you wish." I say as I put the papers down on my desk and offer him a seat.
"Forgive me for I may be asking too much but do you know all about Diana?" Ares asks as he sits down in the chair right in front of my desk.
"You mean the fact that her real name is Abigail, she is not from this time in fact she is what Hermes described to me as a time traveling agent, one whose job it is to make sure that history stays as correct as possible?" I reply to Ares who now has a stunned look on his face. "I also know that you are an agent as well, though I do not know your true name I doubt that would make a difference now."
"Herems told you all of that and you believed him without asking any questions?" Ares asked again only this time with his eye brows raised.
Standing from my chair I went to the side of my desk and looked Ares right in the eyes.
"Why would I not believe my own brother? Though we do not look alike, Hermes and I share the same mother therefore the same blood, I know that Abigail helped him leave this cursed place though I don't know how and I will not ask for she has her ways I'm sure. He made me swear on our mother's grave that I would believe him and do whatever I could to protect Abigail until her mission was complete. I have done that so far and will continue to do so." I tell Ares who also now stands and looks at me skeptically.
"That's not the only reason though is it?" Ares asks as he watches me for any sign that I may in fact be lying. "You love her, that is your one mistake though, no matter if you believe me or not once her mission is done she will leave. No matter what. Weather you love her or not she does not belong here and never will."
Without another word Ares leaves my office, That man honestly thinks that I don't know where her mission is done that she will in fact leave. Others maybe suspicious then but I could tell them she died in child birth or became sick, in this time you could die of anything and no one would be able to tell the difference. I should know that better than anyone. Sighing I wipe the sweat from my face as the door opens again.
"Well that didn't sound like it went well." I hear Petra's voice as she walks up to me. "Told him of our younger brother and he told you that you love her. Didn't sound like an easy conversation."
"Must you listen in on every conversation I have sister?" I question her as I walk back and pick up the papers I was looking at before Ares came in.
"Of course, that is what sisters do. Will you ever tell her even if you don't think that it will make a difference?" Petra asks as she now sits down where Ares once sat.
"Why? She has no use for the knowledge and once she leaves I could easily remarry." I state as I sit down and start to make notes on one of the documents.
"Liar, you would have a statue of her built just so you could remember what she looked like. Still I wonder if that Alexander will try anything, we all know he isn't that smart after all." Petra says making a very good point.
"Double the guards for that week then." I reply with a sigh as another knock comes upon my door. "Enter."
"Forgive me Aro, I was looking for Petra." I head Abigail's voice and my head automatically looks up to see her in a pure white gown perhaps not her wedding dress but she looked like an angel none the less.
"Oh good, you found the right one, this dress is simple and elegant and you will wear it until you change into your wedding dress." Petra explained as she guided Abigail out of my study but stuck her head back in for a moment. "You do love her now be a man and tell her."
With those words Petra left with Abigail and a part of me did want to tell her. I would have done anything for her because I love her and need her like I need to breathe, I see clearly I could easily give up all I have just to be with her. Then what Ares said came flashing back to my head. She would leave no matter what I told her, even if the words were I love her.
