Twenty eight
There was silence. Only cricket sounds could be heard around them as the winds flew past. It was a peaceful moment. In fact, it was the perfect moment for questions to be answered.
But Jimin started getting impatient since the woman hadn't made any move to talk since she had asked him to sit beside her. It had been a good fifteen minutes now. She was just busy gazing at the flowing waters.
He drew a deep breath and glared at her.
"You called me here. Shouldn't you at least say something?"
The woman smiled still looking straight ahead before she spoke, her voice soft but clear.
"You have questions Park Jimin, ask away"
Finally
Park Jimin took a full breath and looked closely at the woman. So many questions kept swirling all over his head. He was finally going to clear up his mind.
"First, who are you and second, why me? Why did you choose me to bring to the past"
The woman smiled. It was a ghostly smile that made goose bumps appear on Jimin's skin but he simply took it as a reaction to the cold.
"To answer your first question, I'm an ancient being, existent since the moment man was created. I'm not stuck in one time line, I'm everywhere. Present in every man's consciousness, waiting till I'm needed before I appear and to answer your second question, you weren't chosen, you are just one of the many millions who where given a second chance to change themselves. I didn't call out to you. You called out to me"
Jimin shook his head completely at loss. "What do you mean I called out to you? And what the hell do you mean by you're in every man's consciousness"
The woman smiled strangely "In more simple terms, I'm a fairy..."
Jimin raised an eyebrow "Fairy god mother?
"They only exist in fairy tales. I'm simply just a fairy and I've been put in the service of man to help at their most desperate and critical moment"
Jimin was beginning to understand her now. She went on.
"There are different versions of myself in every timeline but i achieve the same purpose"
Jimin suddenly remembered something. "There was a palm reader who met me a while ago saying that i wasn't from this time line. She looked exactly like you"
The woman looked straight at him now, her eyes piercing his "She's a version of myself in this time line. Surely, she wasn't aware of who you are. If she was, she wouldn't have acted that way but she knows now, so you shouldn't worry"
Jimin shook his head. He still couldn't process everything she had said but he knew she was a fairy who somehow had the power to take people to the past but there was something else bothering him.
"Where am i? Am i still in the past?"
She gave him a smug smile. "What do you think?"
Jimin shrugged. "I'm younger, exactly like i was ten years ago. All my friends are here. Jungkook and Taehyung too but still it's different. The events that occurs are different"
She looked at Jimin in a way that made him shudder.
"Why?"
"It's not the same!"
She nodded. "Because things didn't turn out the way you expected them to?"
Jimin nodded and the woman got up, her eyes focused on the river as she placed both her hands behind her.
"That's life. It doesn't always pan out the way you want. Humans have different destinies but only one actually manifests. It's up to you to choose the one you want. You shape your own destinies with your own hands"
Jimin sighed tiredly. "But that doesn't explain anything. Am i in the past or not...."
The woman continued talking as if she didn't hear him.
"Ten years ago, you made a decision but it was a wrong one and even the universe knew you deserved a second chance. Your desperation called me to you and so I came to help you. To help you realize the mistake you made so that you will finally live the life that you where meant to live"
She sighed. "But you're still going to make the same mistakes again because you are indecisive and scared of things you really shouldn't be scared of"
Jimin was confused. "What do you mean?"
She turned to him and sat beside him again with curiosity shining in her eyes.
"Tell me, what is the biggest change you experienced while coming here?"
Jimin was quiet because the answer was already there, gnawing at his insides.
"Taehyung!"
The woman smiled. "Mmh... The best friend. What exactly has changed regarding Taehyung?"
Jimin lowered his head. This was the first time he was actually talking about this to anyone.
"My feelings!"
The woman smiled. "Elaborate!"
Jimin cleared his throat. This was so embarrassing but he continued, clearing his throat.
"I see him in a new light now. I see him in a way that I've never seen him before. He's different. He's strong yet feeble at the same time and the funny thing is that i didn't even realize it before . He is like a treasure that i just discovered...a rare gem"
He was so lost into the description, his eyes litting up that he didn't notice the woman's conniving smile. When he recovered himself, he blushed.
"It's wonderful to be in love"
Jimin shrugged. "I don't know if I'm in love. This wasn't supposed happen. I had a plan. I was supposed to come to the past to seduce Jungkook because that was the only thing i really wanted but now everything is different"
The woman finally looked away from him refocusing her attention on the river with a serious look on her face.
"Park Jimin, this is not the past" she said, her tone hard and loud as she continued "This is an alternate reality. Another time line showing you the possible route you should have taken towards your real destiny"
"You have already lived your past. You have made the mistakes but it's what you do in this timeline that determines what will happen to your future"
She shook her head. "But your stubbornness might once ruin everything"
Jimin got up and she looked him squarely in the face.
"My candid advice, live this alternate life like it's your last. Everything you're feeling right now is real. Everything so enjoy it while you still can because very soon it will all be gone"
Seeing the confusion on Jimin's face, she laughed. "You didn't think you would stay here forever did you?"
She shook her head "No darling. The time is ticking and soon, you will go back to your own time. Back to where you came from"
Jimin's heart was beating fast as he gulped fast, bile rising in his throat.
"How long do I have ?" he muttered.
She smiled. "You will know when it's time"
She stopped smiling and shook her head. "Live and love Jimin. Don't try too hard to be perfect. Live and love!"
Jimin just stared at her as she smiled fully again, fine wrinkles forming around her eyes.
"I'm sure I've answered all your questions. You may go now!" she said in a dismissive tone but Jimin wasn't done yet. There where still things he needed to know.
"Wait! I'm not done...."
The woman clicked her fingers and he found himself back at the tent with Taehyung hovering over him, concern litting his eyes
"Thank goodness, I've been trying to wake you up for almost ten minutes now" The latter said with a relieved smile on his face.
Jimin looked outside. It was already morning and he definitely doesn't remember coming back from the river on his own which meant that his encounter with this woman was a dream. Really? But it hadn't felt like one. It had felt so real, the winds, the sounds of the water. He started to wonder if anything that really happened took place. He felt his pocket. The card was still there.
Taehyung suddenly grabbed his arm. "Come on, let's have some breakfast!" He said dragging him to his feet.
Jimin looked around. "Where is Jung min?" he asked.
"He's having breakfast now"
Jimin nodded before stretching out his arms tiredly "I'll love to take a bath"
"You can have one at the river fountain!" Taehyung told him.
"Okay...you can have breakfast. I'll join you later" he said and smiled at him before taking his sweet time walking back to the river. There was a fountain of water flowing from a huge mountain. Thankfully, no one else was around and it gave Jimin ample time to think about his encounter with the fairy in his dream. He peeled off all his clothes and tossed them all on the ground before diving inside the water.
The feeling of the water hitting his skin was refreshing but it wasn't enough to make him forget what the fairy told him. How could he? It kept ringing over and over in his head but the fact that he was in an alternate reality troubled him. Was everything real? Who was he? He kept asking himself when he heard a dip in the water. He panicked at first, realizing he was no longer alone. He looked around him to see who had joined him in the water when Taehyung suddenly reared his head out from under the water and if Jimin ever doubted anything was real, he would never doubt the reality of Taehyung and how magnificent and sexy he looked with his skin dripping wet with water.
He swam towards him wearing a knowing smile on his face. Jimin was unable to speak and with the way Taehyung looked at him, he knew he was spell bound by him.
"I thought i had to join you. I needed the bath too"
Jimin gulped. "Oh...!"
His lips where trembling. The last thing he wanted was to be close to a wet dripping hot Taehyung meaning his bath in the river had come to an abrupt end. He turned away.
"Um... Well I'm done bathing. I'll just " he started to leave when he felt Taehyung's arm around his wrist pulling his back. He took in a sharp breath when he found himself chest to chest with Taehyung. He couldn't look up at him because then, he knew how close their faces would be.
"Where do you think you are going?" Taehyung murmured, his breath fanning Jimin's cheeks.
The latter tried to steady his breathing but he was doing a very bad job of it.
"Taehyung, I'm done bathing. I just...."
"Are you trying to leave just because i came?"
His voice was soft. Jimin knew exactly what he was trying to do. He was trying to make do on the challenge he had thrown to Jimin few days before the camping trip.
Something has changed between us and I'm going to make you acknowledge it.
Jimin bit his lips hard struggling to let go but he was fighting a loosing battle because with Taehyung's grip around his waist, there was no place he was going. He was stuck right there close to Taehyung. They stayed like that for who knows how long before Taehyung spoke again.
"Jimin, please look at me" Taehyung murmured but Jimin didn't raise his head because he knew he would melt if his eyes met with Taehyung's but he felt the latter's finger tips under his chin and in a few seconds, he was eye to eye with Taehyung. Taehyung's strong gaze melted him.
"I'm not sure how long I can hold back from you Jimin. Please don't keep running away from me. I know you feel exactly what i feel."
Jimin looked away from him and Taehyung's hand loosened it's grip.
"It's Jungkook right? You still like him"
He dropped his hand completely and hung his head. "I should've known. I was stupid to think that..."
Jimin held him back. "No, it's not about Jungjook. It's me Tae. It's all me"
Taehyung peered at him closer now. "What do you mean Jimin?"
Jimin blinked his eyes. "I'm not who you think i am Tae. I'm not sure it's right to give in to these new feelings that i have for you. I thought meeting that woman yesterday will clear everything up but it turns out it was only a dream. How am I supposed to believe her now?"
Taehyung was definitely lost at that moment. "I have no idea what you just said but if you need time to figure all these out, I will give you time. Don't just keep me hanging for too long"
Jimin chuckled. He felt at ease immediately as Taehyung toned down his seduction skills and held his hand so they where swimming together.
At that moment, Taehyung wasn't the man he was having feelings for. He was the guy he had met in high school at the age of sixteen, the one who stood up for him when he was being bullied for being too feminine. The one he told all his troubles to, the one who would sneak out with him during classes to smoke weed near the bushes. The one who was with him through the good times and the bad. The one who would sacrifice anything just to see him happy. He was just Kim Taehying, his best friend but now, the man he really really loved. At least now, he could admit that fact to himself but he wasn't ready to say that out loud.
"Hey you two! This isn't your private bath. This is public property. No PDA!"
They both turned their heads to see where the rude voice had come from and of course, it was none other than Nayeon. She was frowning and glaring at them at the same time. Jimin wanted to lurch out from the water and strangle her but then he would be accused of assaulting a woman so he just controlled his temper.
Taehyung gripped his hand as they swam towards the river bank.
"Mmh mmh... That's right, out you both go!" she jeered loudly
Jimin stiffened with anger. "Can you believe that brat?"
"Best to ignore her. If you confront her, it means she got to us so let's just leave her alone okay. Trust me, she's not worth the attention" Taehyung whispered.
Jimin nodded and they finally reached the banks and put on their clothes trying to avoid looking at their naked bodies. Nayeon had already stripped off her clothes and was already dipping her self into the water making loud satisfying noises to annoy them.
Taehyung took Jimin's hands again once they where fully dressed and together, they walked back to the camp only to be greeted with a mild commotion. Most of the people had worried looks on their faces. They walked towards Jin and Namjoon who where sitting on a chair whispering to each other.
"What happened?" Jimin asked.
"Jungkook broke his leg. It was pretty bad!" Jin said. "He was climbing up a mountain by himself and suddenly...."
Jimin sighed worriedly. "Where is he now?"
"He's at his tent getting treated by Yugyeom"
Yugyeom? Jimin thought to himself. There was something bothering him and he needed to clear this curiosity.
"Where is Taemin?"
Both Namjoon and Jin shrugged signalling that they had no idea where he was so Jimin left to find him leaving Taehyung with the couple. It took a while but finally, he found Minho sitting alone far from the tents with a far away look in his eyes. When he approached him, Taemin offered him a weak smile.
"Are you alright?" Jimin whispered and Taemin just shrugged clearing a space for him to sit beside him.
"I've noticed you've been really quiet since we came to the camp"
He stopped. " What's really going on between you and Jungkook?"
Taemin smiled bitterly. "We broke up!"
To be continued. Hope you enjoyed this long chapter. This is to make up for my absence. Have a great day!
