"Thank you Gaurav, I don't know what I would've done without you." We had won the case and Shyam was very happy about it.

"It is always my pleasure." Gaurav said modestly.

"And you Kavya, you did a great job too. I would like to invite the two of you to my party on Saturday evening."

"That is very nice of you, but I don't think" I started speaking but was cut off by our client.

"Before you say no I would like to say." He looked sternly at me and continued, "you have to be there."

"Okay."

"How does it feel?" Gaurav asked me while on our way back to the office.

"Winning a big case? It feels good."

"It is just the beginning for you. You've a lot more left to see."

I met the usual group in the evening for coffee. They demanded I go with them for coffee.

"I hate you Kavya. You spend the whole time with my Gaurav." Shreya complained.

"My Gaurav huh? When did that happen?" Neha teased her.

"He has always been mine, from the day I started here. But now, it seems like she is taking him away from me." Shreya tagged along with the comment throwing a playful glare at me.

"Do I even have a say in this matter?" I asked. The three of them pretended to think for a while and in unison said "Nah."

I saw Gaurav enter the cafeteria with Rahul.

"Congrats on the win today." Rahul said to his partner.

"Thank you Rahul."

"Shyam called me earlier, he invited me to his party on Saturday."

"Yeah, Kavya and I are also invited."

They didn't notice us in the cafeteria, at least I think so, because they started talking about me.

"So, how is Kavya? You do like the way she works, don't you?"

"Did I forget to thank you for finding her?" Gaurav asked and Rahul nodded like a kid who his friend had wronged.

"I have no words to express how grateful I am. She is everything I wanted. She is nothing like the other one you found. Thank you so much."

"We shouldn't be overhearing this conversation." I said to the others.

"It is not our fault if they can't keep their voices down." Neha said.

"I am really jealous of you." Shreya commented and Maya burst out laughing. Well, the two bosses noticed us.

"I didn't see you guys there." Gaurav said to us.

"Oh hi," Neha said.

"We were just leaving; don't you have a meeting with the HR team today?" Maya asked.

"That is why we have personal assistants like you." Rahul said and the two assistants smiled.

"We should get going now." Shreya said and they nodded.

As we got into the lift we made sure it was just the four of us.

"They wouldn't have noticed that we heard right?" Shreya asked.

"Na, they might've thought we were talking to ourselves and laughing." Even when Maya said that I hoped that was true.

"And what was that about the party." Trust Shreya to ask that.

"Shyam, CEO of ArcTech is throwing a party since we won today. He invited us, more like demanded I go."

"You lucky bi...." Before she could complete it, Neha and Maya stopped her.

"See I told you she was stealing him from me." Well Shreya wasn't the one to stop.

"Stop with the drama, he was never yours."

"At least I had a chance before she came into the picture." The bickering continued between Neha and Shreya.

"Come on girls, stop with the teasing. There is nothing going on." I said.

This was getting a bit too much. Thankfully they decided to drop it for the time being. We all went to our respective offices and continued working.

Days flew by and before I knew, it was Saturday. I decided to wear a black saree. It wasn't something extravagant. It was a plane black saree with golden work in the border. I had a golden blouse to go with it. I checked my phone before getting ready to see I had a text from Gaurav.

I'll pick you up @ 7

I contemplated on whether or not to say no. I could go to the party myself. Again I didn't want to disappoint him every time. After thinking for a while, I replied to his message.

He was at my door at seven on the dot. He was wearing a black dress shirt with dress pants, which made me wonder whether he was coming directly from office.

"Thank you for picking me up. You didn't have to do that."

"It is my pleasure to take you to the party. Ready to go?" I willed myself to think he wasn't flirting with me.

"Sure, let me just grab a few things." I said and went inside to get my purse. I locked the door and joined him in his car.

"Were you in the office this whole time?" I asked him after he started driving.

"I was expecting that question. The answer is no, I went home, freshened up and came back."

At the party I met Rahul's wife Sneha. We talked about Gunjan and Karthik and their college days. I basically stuck to their side, I didn't know anyone else there.

Shyam had a good party going on. Well, I have never been to such parties before, so I wouldn't know much about them anyway.

"Lets go and get something to eat." Gaurav said to me. Rahul and Sneha were also heading towards the area where they were serving different varieties of food, so I followed.

While standing in the line, I saw someone who I never expected to see in this party.
