I do know he fancies me.

Showing up for work the next day was no difficult task. Everything was the same. Gaurav said he was glad I showed up, he didn't say anything though. Maya, Neha and Shreya were all the support I needed.

"It is nice to see you back working cases again." Rahul said as he came to our floor. "KR really missed you over the last month."

"Thanks" I said.

"So, when is Karthik and Gunjan getting back? I think a reunion is due for us, it'll be nice to have it at yours."

"You are welcome anytime, I'll tell him to contact you."

"You don't have to do that; I'll call him later today." He said with a smile. Our conversation was cut short when Gaurav emerged from his cabin.

"Rahul, what are you doing here?" Gaurav didn't mean to be offensive, it was clear from his face, and Rahul knew it and played along.

"I know this is your floor, but, I still own fifty percent of the company. I think I have the right to go whichever floor I want."

"Oh you do," He said with a smirk.

"Well, since you asked nicely, we need to visit the new location for our office." Rahul said and Gaurav seemed to remember.

I was curious about the new office thing, but didn't ask.

"Oh, we are looking for a permanent location for our office, you know, thing building being a rental and all that." Gaurav tried to explain it to me.

"It is fine; you don't have to tell me. Also I didn't know this building was rented."

"Yeah, now they want it back. You've heard about the office of 'Sharma and sons' right? Well, they are trying to bring us down. Mr. Rajveer Sharma is a great guy, but I cant say the same about his sons, Raj and Veer. They are apparently buying this building. We have a year's contract left, but we need to find a suitable place to shift to by then." Rahul told me.

"I am sure you'll find it." I told my bosses.

"Oh, I am fairly certain I have found the place. It is closer to the court than this place." Gaurav piped in.

"We should get going, you ready?" Rahul asked Gaurav.

"One minute, let me just grab my phone."

It took Gaurav more than one minute to grab his phone. Rahul and I talked about Karthik.

"And Kavya, we've to go to the high court later to file the petition for Mr. Avinash Sinha's case. Keep it ready by the time I come"

Even though he said that as if it was nothing, I felt guilty. It was because of my carelessness that we had to file for the new case. He had filed for custody stating his wife was negligent. The court had ruled it out saying Avinash was more irresponsible, not even appearing for the case he filed. But, Gaurav behaved as if nothing was wrong, as if nothing had changed in the past few days.

Later that day I had lunch with the usual people. Maya forced me to tell them what made me come after I overheard their conversation on the phone. I told them that Gaurav had visited my place and that I decided to turn over a new leaf.

"He so has a crush on you, please don't try to deny it." Shreya said after I finished speaking.

"I don't want to deny it anymore, but that doesn't mean I am going to jump into things."

"But Kavya, he genuinely likes you. I think everyone in KR knows that by now." Neha said.

"I am not sure about 'the everyone' in KR part, but I do know he fancies me. That is why I don't want to jump into things and disappoint him or anyone else. I do like him, but I know I am not ready for a relationship, not yet."

"Do you think he'll be around waiting forever?" Shreya asked. I wasn't sure how to answer that question. But, thankfully for me, Maya answered that.

"You need not worry about that, I've worked with him enough to know that if he truly values something, he'll never let it go. And from the way he is behaving around you and when you were gone, I can say it for sure, he'll never let you go."

I didn't know what to feel about that. Should I be happy that he liked me so much that it was obvious to everyone around him or sad because I probably couldn't reciprocate the feelings?

After lunch I worked on Avinash Sinha's case. There wasn't much to do as the draft was the same. I only had to add the parts on why this case was at the high court. I even joined the ladies for coffee that day, all part of my 'facing the world' plan. Having coffee break with the usual crowd wasn't much, but still it was something.

"Mind if we join you?" Rahul asked us. Gaurav was standing beside him with two coffee cups in hand.

"We don't mind you joining us, but there are a lot of empty seats, why do you want to join s?" Neha asked them.

"Well, you are our employees, we just want to make sure you people are happy in our organization." Rahul said taking the empty seat next to Shreya. Gaurav took the seat between next to him. Now Gaurav was facing me and I felt a bit uneasy.

"Why us? There are a lot more employees of yours in this cafeteria." Maya pointed out.

"Come on Maya, why would you ask us that. You guys work directly for us, if it wasn't for you then we wouldn't be here. If you and Neha didn't manage everything for us, how would we survive. And Kavya, without her I would've be going crazy with all that family drama."

For him the family cases were a drama. Hearing that triggered old memories.

"I just need a minute."I said and they turned to me. He seemed to realise his mistake after looking at me, I didn't wait for anyone to say anything and rushed to the restroom.

I was becoming worse than a touch me not plant. This couldn't continue like this. I needed to stop crying over anything and everything. I washed my face, regained my composure and returned to the table.

"I am sorry Kavya, I didn't mean to..."

"It is okay Gaurav, I am over it." Guilt was evident from his face.

"So, as we were saying, I don't belong here." Shreya said and looked at her trying to understand why she said that. It wa sn't just me who didn't understand hat she said, everyone was looking at her.

"Well, I don't work directly under the two of you." We all cracked a smile when she said that.

After a few minutes, we were done with our break.

"So Kavya, are the papers ready?"

"Yeah, about that Gaurav, I haven't done the paperwork for high court cases before today, so if you could take a look at them before we printed it out, it would be great."

"Sure."

He approved everything and I printed them out on the green ledger paper. Avinash Sinha was meeting us there. He needed to sign everything before we filed it before the court.

"Did you tell him it was my fault?" I asked Gaurav when we were in the car.

"Nah, not exactly."

"What do you mean?"

"I told him the court rejected it because he wasn't present. Well, that is what is written in the sessions court verdict too."

"But what if he comes to know we were not there?"

"He is too busy to get into the details. He trusts me to win it for him, so it won't matter."

"If he comes to know, won't it feel like you are taking him for granted?"

"You need not worry Kavya, all these years he has trusted me with his company cases and he knows I can do it." He said turning to me.

I nodded in response and he turned his attention to the road.

Filing the case was a simple enough process once we had Mr. Sinha sign the papers. Gaurav dropped me at the office and I gathered my things before I left for home.
