Chapter 5 | Fred

Fred turned back around to his friends in his compartment, after taking 4 liquorice wands from the trolley. He handed one out to each of his friends; James, Louis and Frank.

"So," James began menacingly.

"Which little first year will be the first to fall into our wrath?" Frank finished for his best friend.

"Malfoy?" Frank suggested.

"What?" Louis asked, sitting up from his slump, with his arms crossed, "Do you mean Scorpius Malfoy?"

"He's not bad, guys," Fred cut in, "Why are you picking on him?"

"Excuse me?" James asked in shock.

"What has he ever done to you?" Fred elaborated.

"I saw him eyeing Albus and Rose on the platform," James argued, "And his father was a bully."

"Alright, maybe his father was a bully, but your dad is over that now James! Plus, Scorp's Grandma basically saved Uncle Harry's life."

"Oh, so he's Scorp now, is he?" James teased.

"You're avoiding the argument," Fred protested.

"Freddie, if you've got something against it, don't prank him with us," Frank cut in.

"Yeah, we're doing it, right Lou?" James asked.

Louis just shrugged and Frank and James rolled their eyes and sighed. They began talking about what they were going to do to prank the innocent Scorpius, while Fred sat there annoyed, playing wizards chess with Louis.

"M'kay losers, we're going," James waved goodbye.

"And what exactly do you plan to do?" Fred asked curiously.

"You sound like Aunt Hermione," James snickered.

"And we really shouldn't tell you, anyway," Frank said.

"So...we won't," James smiled, as the two left the compartment.

Fred looked over at Louis, who had fallen asleep on his own shoulder and then decided to get up and follow James and Frank. He walked past each compartment and glanced at each one until he finally saw who he was looking for. He found the compartment Albus and Rose were in and he took a look inside to see who they were sitting with.

He saw them sitting with a girl with wavy sandy hair which went down past her shoulders. Her eyes were as blue as the sky and a first glance, Fred thought she was quite beautiful. Across from the girl was a dark haired boy with brown eyes and freckles, who was yawning and listening intently to whatever Rose was saying. Fred turned around to leave and follow his friends. But when he spun on his heels, there was a familiar face blocking his way.

"What're you doing?" Molly asked curiously.

"Erm...ah..." Fred hesitated; he knew how much Molly would disapprove.

"Well, spill it out," she prompted.

"Frank and James are going to prank an innocent first year by the name of Scorpius Malfoy and I'm following them to see what happens and see if I can stop them because I know they'll get into trouble again and probably receive another detention before the term has even started," Fred blabbed all in one breath, and took a deep breath through his lungs to recover.

"What?" Molly asked confused.

"Well, Frank and James are-" Fred began to explain again.

"Yeah, no. I got it the first time," she stopped him.

"Thank goodness, because I really didn't want to say all of that again," Fred sighed.

"Need some help?" She offered.

"What? With snooping?" Fred asked in disbelief.

"Yes."

"And spying?"

"Yes."

"And-"

"-Fred will you just shut up?"

"Sorry."

"Can we go now?"

"I guess."

And so they headed to the end of the train where all the Slytherin's (for they had assumed he'd be in that area) usually sat, and found Scorpius sitting in a corner all by himself, reading a book, with no James or Frank in sight.

"Where are they?" Molly whispered, ducking behind the window on the door.

"Dunno," Fred sighed, opening the door and heading towards Scorpius.

"Fred!" Molly whispered loudly from behind.

But Fred didn't turn around, so Molly took a deep breath and stood up straight. She adjusted her robes and marched into the compartment behind her cousin and addressed Scorpius Malfoy, who looked up at her confused.

"Hello Scorpius," she said politely, "I'm Molly Weasley, the Ravenclaw prefect."

"Um...hi," he said shyly.

"Forget her," Fred dismissed, "I'm Fred. And my friends are about to attempt to pull a prank on you. Knowing them it will be something like dung bombs or fireworks-"

"Fireworks? On a train?" Molly asked.

"Yeah. This is James and Frank were talking about," Fred told her.

"Right..." Molly trailed off, obviously thinking no more needed to be said.

"Anyway, we just thought we'd give you a heads up," Fred warned, realising how stupid and pointless he sounded.

"Thanks," Scorpius smiled.

"Oh, and I- as a responsible prefect- give you permission to use one spell on either of them," Molly said happily.

"Are you serious?" Fred asked.

"Yes, Fred, I'm always serious," she smiled.

Fred was baffled by her sudden lax towards the rules. Molly was the sort who would usually immediately deplore of any rule breaking or doing anything that wasn't right. Judgement wasn't her strong suit, as she usually jumped to conclusions, but this time she'd processed the situation and come to a different approach. Fred was taken out of his train of thought as two certain faces appeared within his sight.

"Here they come," Fred whispered hastily, grabbing Molly by the sleeve and hiding both of them under the table.

James and Frank strutted in casually. Fred noticed James take his wand out of his pocket as he sat down at a table near Scorpius. He didn't know what James was attempting to do, but he took his wand out in preparation of defending Scorpius.

"Rictusempra," James whispered, with his wand under the table, pointing directly at Scorpius.

But the little first year was too quick for James, casting his very own (and much advanced) shield charm. He then stood up and pointed his wand directly at James, who had also risen to his feet immediately. They both now stood in the aisle between the tables and all eyes (including Molly, Fred and Frank's) were glued to the pair.

"Expelliarmus," Scorpius shouted hastily, disarming James.

Frank made a cowardly run for it and James followed him, but the little 11 year old was once again, too quick. For Scorpius performed another spell that was way beyond his years.

"Stupefy!" He shouted.

"I. Said. One," Molly yelled sternly, coming out from under the table.

The spell had it James directly in the chest, but it had had absolutely no effect on him.

"I'm invincible!" He shouted, "I can not be tou- wait, where did you come from, Molly?"

"Under the table," she said.

"Geez, thanks for not blowing my cover," Fred sighed sarcastically.

"Sorry," she shrugged.

"What were you doing there Fred?" Frank asked.

"Protecting an innocent Slyth- I mean, first year!" Fred explained.

"Are you kidding me?" James asked.

"Molly is the one who gave him permission to use a spell," Fred shrugged.

"I said one," Molly defended, staring at Scorpius who sheepishly looked away.

"It doesn't matter anyway," Alice pointed out, appearing in the doorway, "Apparently, Jamie here is invincible."

"Not this again," Molly sighed.

"It appears I am, Ally," James spat.

"Can we all just go back to our compartments before you two run out of insults?" Molly huffed.

"Yes please," Fred and Frank said together.

Molly gently pushed James in the back as a signal to leave and the five of them filed out together. Frank was last in the line, and before he left, he turned around and gave Scorpius a weak smile, and was returned the gesture. They all went back into their compartments, and Alice joined the boys, while Molly went to sit with the other prefects.

"What was that?" Frank yelled, abruptly slamming the compartment door shut and waking Louis up.

"Not so loyal. I can see why you're not in Hufflepuff," James said.

"Will you guys just back off?" Alice defended, "It's not his fault you chose an innocent target!"

"You've got sass, Ally," James smirked, "But the fact still remains, I am invincible."

"When will you get over yourself Potter?! No one likes and arrogant, egotistical little liar who struts around like he's top of the world! There's time for jokes, but there's times to be serious!" She yelled, getting up and leaving the cabin with a thud of the door.

"I'm always Sirius," he remarked, once she knew he was gone.

~I solemnly swear that I am up to no good~

Hello.

I just wanted to clarify something for you.

James is not a jerk. He just wanted to pull a prank. This chapter was purely for the purpose of showcasing Fred's personality. Fred is the first one to approve of Scorpius. He is quite intelligent, and very brave to stand up to his friends and tell them what he believes in. James and Frank remind me a bit of James and Sirius. They're not bad people, they're just fun and maybe a bit arrogant.

My question for you today is:
Why was James invincible?

Anyway...comment and vote! Do I look like J.K Rowling? No, I didn't think so. Therefore I do not own Harry Potter.
