Chapter 2 | Albus

Ron, Frank, Dominique, Charlie, James, Fred and George against Alice, Albus, Angelina, Ginny, Harry, Roxanne and Teddy.

Albus was up, up and away! He was soaring. He was flying. It was amazing how being in the air made his life feel so carefree. Albus was a chaser -  and a very skilled one at that. Well, he didn't think so, but that's what Rose told him.

Even though she didn't play Quidditch, she knew more about it than Albus did. She was a walking dictionary not only when it came to academics, but even more so when it came to Quidditch facts. There was no doubt in saying that her father was happy about that. In fact, you could say that 'happy' was an understatement. She barracked for the Chuddley Cannons (once again, to the pleasure of her father), but she couldn't care less if they won or loss. Albus was a mad supporter of The Holyhead Harpies, as his mother had once played for them.

The Quaffle was released, and Albus was snapped out of his train of thought as the game begun. Albus made a quick grab for the ball. He snatched it from Dominique who was the first one to touch it. Around him James was up in the air, frantically searching for the Snitch, determined to beat his dad. But Albus didn't care right now.

He was heading straight for the goals. He had to get the ball past Ron, which was a challenge in itself. Albus thought for a moment as he looked behind him; he was at least five meters in front of everyone else. As he approached the goal, he stopped and every one sped past him. He went under and past them all again as he faked a throw to the left hoop. Ron flew to where Albus had faked and almost got back in time to stop the Quaffle from gliding through the right hoop. Almost.

Alice came and congratulated him saying, "It's not easy to hoodwink someone that experienced! Nice one Al!" Albus thanked her modestly before the game continued.

Albus' team was ten points up and the score was twenty - thirty. They'd been playing for a good ten minutes but it was impossible to score. The adults, although way more experienced, were at quite an equal match with the kids. The goals so far were scored by Albus, Angelina, Roxanne, Dominique and Charlie. Albus grabbed the ball again, but Frank snatched it off him before he could travel further than ten meters. He attempted a pass to Dominique, but it was cut off by Ginny. She flew through the air with such ease and scored an easy goal against her brother. The score was now twenty - forty.

The others had finished their game of exploding snap, and some of them were watching intently. Rose started a cheer everytime Albus got the ball, which was quite embarrassing. Yes, it was nice that she did it. But no, it was not necessary for her to do so.

Albus intercepted a pass thrown by Frank and headed towards the goal posts for a second shot. But instead of being selfish, Albus faked the goal and passed to Angelina who shot. Ron dived for the goal, but was distracted by a bludger  that had been hit his way by Roxanne.

"Nice hit Roxy!" Lily called from down below.

"Thanks!" Roxanne shouted back.

Albus's team was winning twenty - fifty. But their scoring streak didn't last for long. Out of absolutely no where, Dominique had scored five consecutive goals, making the scores seventy - fifty. Albus had never appreciated how good of a Quidditch player Dom was until now. He knew that she was on the Gryffindor Quidditch team, but he had only ever watched her play at home, and never at Hogwarts. Apparently she had won Gryffindor the Quidditch Cup last year, (although James had un-modestly insisted it was him) scoring 20 goals in the grand final.

But the game didn't last for long. After Dominique had scored her fifth goal, Albus saw James and Harry dive. Ginny scored against a distracted Ron, who was watching the battle between father and son. The pair were flying in sync, side by side, heading directly for the turf.

They both pulled up with less than a meter between them and the ground, but Harry then cut in front of James and  accelerated. James tried to get back in front, but once he had lost position, he couldn't get back. James reached out his arm uselessly in the air, while Harry grabbed the snitch and ended the game.

The end scores were seventy - two hundred.

"That was a really good goal you scored Al," Hugo complimented, as Albus landed.

"Thanks," Albus blushed.

"Can we go inside?" Lucy asked, "I'm getting cold."

"Yeah, let's go in," Louis agreed.

They all walked inside together. Alice and Frank went to wish Ginny a happy birthday, and then all of the kids gathered in the lounge room.

"You guys ready to go to Hogwarts?" Molly asked.

"I'm so not," Albus confessed.

"Al, don't worry about not being in Gryffindor. Not all of us are," Victoire pointed out.

"Yeah, but none of you are in Slytherin," James teased, walking into the room, crunching on an apple.

"So not helping James," Dominique scolded.

"I'm just saying," James raised his hands in surrender.

"Yeah, well, just saying it, isn't helping the cause," Molly pointed out.

"But he's right," Albus muttered.

"Woah...Did you two just...agree?" Frank made this sound like it was illegal.

"Shut up," James kicked him playfully in the head from behind.

"Al, he's just doing it for the sake of teasing you; he knows how susceptible you are," Teddy said.

"Susce-what?" Lily frowned.

"Well, can we devise a plan to help you two?" Alice asked.

"A plan?" Lucy frowned.

"How the hell do you come up with a plan to decide what house their in?" Molly asked incredulously.

"Giving the sorting hat a love potion?" Lily suggested with a snort.

"I have a plan..." Rose trailed.

"And?" James asked, "What is it?"

"Well-" Rose began before being cut of by the passing adults.

"This thing is making me swelter and itch!" Ron complained, "Mum can't expect me to wear this forever."

"He must be talking about the sweater he got for Christmas," Hugo smiled, "I don't know why he hates them, I personally love mine."

"Shut up Hugo, Rose has a plan," Lily shushed.

"But, I think it would break some school rules," she informed them, "So...maybe we shou-"

"-I'm in," James, Fred, Louis, Frank, Alice, Roxanne and Dominique all chorused at the same time.

Molly, who was sitting in the corner, shook her head and rolled her eyes at their eagerness to break the rules, and stuck her nose back into her book that she was reading; where most would say that it belonged.

"Well, the night after we're sorted, no matter where we're sorted, Victoire can exit the Hogwarts grounds, or she can use the floo network, and collect everyone that isn't attending Hogwarts yet, or anymore. And we can all meet in a classroom; whichever room that may be," Rose explained.

"Yeah, and we can continue our tradition of late night movies," Lucy added.

"Not too late though," Teddy said sternly, with a smile on his face.

"But the next day will be a Saturday, Teddy Bear!" Lily smiled, and made her puppy dog eyes.

"You continue to surpass me at all plans Rosie," Albus smiled.

"What about the teachers?" Fred asked.

"Dude, you're worried about the teachers?" Frank asked.

"We've gotten past them so many times before," James added.

"Yeah, James is right," Louis agreed.

Fred opened his mouth to protest again, but under the glare of his friends and family eventually came to the conclusion to subside.

"With my sublime skills Freddie, anything is possible," James boasted.

"Anything is possible if it's you, my dear James," Alice said sarcastically, adding a mocking bow.

"And what's that supposed to mean?" James smirked.

"That you, unlike so many others, have the ability to do anything. I believe I remember you having a certain flair for making girls vomit at the sight of you," She smiled.

Albus had no idea what Alice's statement was supposed to mean, but it had obviously pushed James's buttons. Because for the 10 minutes that followed James's next words, Albus sat as a bored onlooker in the living room.

"You asked for it," James smirked at her as he picked up a pillow and chased her around the room.

The two then had a full on pillow fight, as the others watched on, either bored or amused. It carried on for a quite a long time, as Alice dodged pillows and laughed and James repeatedly tripped over foolishly. It ended with Alice being stuck in a corner and James standing in front of her with his wand in his hand.

"Will you surrender?" He asked playfully.

"Never!" She chuckled.

"Those two would make a cute couple," Lily whispered to Albus and Rose.

"Lil! There in third year!" Rose scolded her little cousin, however she appeared amused, "Plus, Frank would absolutely kill James!"

"Wingardium Leviosa," James recited as he levitated Alice into the air.

"JAMES SIRIUS POTTER! PUT ME DOWN!" She demanded.

"Do you surrender?"

"PUT ME DOWN!" She repeated.

"If you say so," he shrugged, losing focus and purposely dropping her onto the bean bag that was lying underneath her.

"Ouch," she said in a delayed reaction to her fall.

"You said to put you down," James pointed out, "You should word your requests more carefully."

"You'll pay for this Jamie!" She warned.

"Jamie? No. I hate it," James said, shaking his head and scowling in disgust.

"Well, that's what I'm calling you from now on," she said, pleased with her conclusion, as she sat down on the arm of the armchair that Dominique and Roxanne were sharing.

"Well, I'll call you Ally, because I know how much you hate it," James retaliated.

"You better watch your mouth Jamie, or you may not have any teeth left in it," she said menacingly, "Who's got the sublime skills now?"

"Still me," James shrugged un-modestly.

"You better watch yourself at Hogwarts this year," she said finally.

"Yeah right. You can't do anything to me. You're dad's a professor," James teased.

"You wait and see just how much I can do," she threatened.

"And we better stay out of the way of their prank war," Albus suggested wisely.

"Yeah, knowing those two, anything could happen," Teddy agreed.

"I'll defeat him, that's what'll happen," Alice said confidently.

"You're on Ally," James spat.

"Oh, it is on, Jamie" she agreed sassily, shaking his hand in a deal.

~I solemnly swear that I am up to no good~

HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

I don't even know what that was. By the way, I feel need to inform you that I am absolute Marauder trash at the moment, and I have finally come to the conclusion that Prongs is my favourite Marauder. Trust me when I say, it took forever (as in *counts* 4 or 5 years) to decide.

That chapter kind of went for longer than I expected...Whoops.

Anyway...Please leave your comments for this chapter. It's always nice to know what you think. Please give me ways to improve my writing, as I am entirely open to your suggestions.

I just have a couple of questions for you.

1) Do you guys prefer thoughts, description or dialogue? I want to see what you want most of, and I will try and base the story around it.

2) We all know that Rose's plan is going to go badly...right? What do you think will happen?

And as always,

~Mischief Managed~
