Twenty Two

It had been a few days now, Jinks wanted to talk to Rohit, but he was stopping himself for the sake of Rohit's health, especially with the matches around the corner. However, that didn't stop him from overthinking about Rohit's condition, his own guilt for not being there for him, and Virat's constant worry and questions for team and Rohit. But it was Jaddu who kept him grounded throughout-whether by handling Virat's anxiety or simply taking care of Rohit without overwhelming him. Jinks had seen a much more mature version of Jaddu over the past few days.

One day, growing curious, Jinks finally asked, "When did you become so mature, Jaddu?"

Jaddu chuckled and replied, "When my close friends decided to be their idiotic selves-whether it's you, Ro, or Veer. And let's not forget, Ash is still unaware of everything that's been happening. So, someone had to step up and be mature. You may think I don't understand how much Rohit's condition or the fact that he hid such a serious issue to handle everything alone has affected you, but honestly, it's your own guilt for not being there for him that seems to weigh on you more. And on top of that, you have the team to manage and Virat's concerns to deal with. So, I decided to take some of that responsibility off your shoulders. Also, I think we should tell Ash without much delay."

And that's exactly what they did next. They informed Ash of everything they had learned so far, and to their surprise- or rather, shock-Ash, the ever-calm one, lost his cool with them and reacted in a way they never expected. His anger and frustration were evident, as he demanded to know why they hadn't told him sooner.

When they informed him that they were still unaware of many things and were waiting to talk to Rohit to learn more, it calmed Ash down to the extent that he returned to his ever-calm and collected self. He assured them that he was with them, as always, and would help in any way he could.

Time skip to match day

The match started, and Rohit wasn't able to score many runs in the first innings. However, he managed to get a half-century in the second innings. As he neared his fifty, the Aussies noticed he wouldn't get out any time soon since he was playing with full concentration so they tried distracting him with sledging. Rohit managed to ignore it for a while, but then Tim Paine made a comments about him trolled by calling him "Vada Pav" or how his own countrymen wanted him to retire from the sport, and leave the team. Paine even mocked and questioned how Rohit, instead of a regular player, had been made vice-captain. These insults were hitting hard, and while Rohit tried to stay focused, Paine kept chirping about how fans were calling him names and even body-shaming him. His resolve to stay focused and ignore Paine started to unravel, as he began sweating heavily and became distracted. As a result, Rohit lost his wicket, which was crucial for the team, as they had a big target to chase and Jadeja had already been injured in the first innings.

As Rohit walked back to the pavilion, Jinks met him on the way and patted his back. This gesture, meant to comfort him, only made Rohit feel more guilt and self-loathing. He had let the Aussies under his skin, and now his team would have to pay the price. Reaching the dressing room, he dashed toward the shower and locked himself inside, his emotions spiraling as he had a breakdown. His anxiety, which had been building up, intensified. His heart was beating at very abnormal pace and his breathing was also uneven...so he came out and checked for his medication, only to realize he had forgotten them at the hotel. He tried his best to control his breathing and calm himself somehow to look normal and somehow sat outside the dressing room fidgeting besides Jaddu, who was ready to bat with a broken thumb, while Ash and Vihari were trying to hold the fort for India at the crease.

Jassi, who had been sitting there, took one look at Rohit and immediately knew something was wrong. But before he could ask anything, Ro was surrounded by their teammates, and Rohit was avoiding eye contact and seem like he was lost somewhere else in his mind, which confirmed Jassi's gut feeling that something was deeply troubling him.

Rohit somehow managed to suppress his growing anxiety until India won the match. Once they had won, he wanted to rush back to the hotel, wanting to be in the safety of his room before an anxiety attack overwhelmed him as it was becoming increasingly difficult for him to stay calm or breathe properly.

But before they could leave for the hotel, the coach informed them about a meeting with the Australian authorities, so they had to wait a little longer. Rohit went into the dressing room and sat down. He was constantly tapping his foot on ground and rubbing his chest, his anxiety mounting. Jassi, who had just entered, noticed the distress on Rohit's face and immediately rushed to him. He asked if he was okay, but before Rohit could respond, he fainted.

The doctor was quickly called in and confirmed that Rohit had suffered a severe anxiety attack. He explained that Rohit had been trying to manage it without taking his prescribed medication, which had taken a significant toll on his body and mind. The doctor emphasized that the build-up of stress, combined with the lack of medication, had caused the attack. His body had reached its breaking point, also he informed that something triggered Rohit to being this much stress, and they should avoid stressing him too much, his body and mind won't able to handle back to back Anxiety attack because he already weak and that he has injected medicine and sleeping pills to Rohit so that his body and mind can rest properly.

As he lay on the bed in the dressing room, Jassi stayed by his side, his worry evident. The rest of the team was now aware of what had happened, and there was an unspoken understanding that Rohit had been struggling with his mental and physical health.

At the moment the coach came there and informed them that" they will shift Rohit to the team hotel so he is away from media's preying eye also he will be more comfortable in room rather than here."

Team management made sure this news didn't reach the media or any outsider but the Australian team was aware about this and currently David Warner was yelling at his Team mate Paine " Are you nuts? how can you stoop so low with sledging that someone's health get deteriorate so much...Rohit faced a severe anxiety attack and it didn't help that his medicine were not with him today. That guy is looking like pale as ghost."

" Hey Mate, it was not my fault...I was just stating him what was actually happening on Social media... i didn't knew he has Anxiety issues or it will trigger in such a manner" said Paine.

" you are just impossible, I don't know how but Pat make him apologies to Rohit...it's the least he can do after stooping such a low level." Warner said and left the dressing room.

" See Buddy, even for once I will agree with David, you shouldn't have sledge him in such a manner, please apologies once you get chance, now common let's leave." Pat said and left.

On other side

Rohit was transfer to his room, Jinks had made everyone leave to rest, while he, Jaddu Ash and Jassi stayed back to be with Rohit.

Jassi who was sitting beside Rohit said " this is third time after coming here he got trigger.... this tour was supposed to help him heal but it seem like he just spiraling down...."

Jassi was midway his rant when Ash said " but what triggered Rohit this much that he literally got such a severe attack and how the hell he forgot his medicine"

"Common Ash, Ro forgetting anything isn't new thing for us now " said Jaddu trying to lighten the situation.

But when he saw Jinks and Ash giving him disapproving looks he added " but on serious topic what must have triggered Ro in such a way"

" Maybe we can tell you that " said someone from door.
