01: Playboy likes me.
For days after the incident, Taehyung's mind continues to be preoccupied with you. He can't shake the image of you rejecting him so bluntly from his mind. The girls around him continue to swoon over him, but he's distracted, lost in thought. He can't seem to forget your feisty attitude and your unwavering rejection of his advances.
Time passes and Taehyung's friends notice his distraction. They try to figure out what's causing their friend to be so unfocused. Jimin, being his closest friend, is the first to confront him about it.
"Dude, what's up with you? You've been spacing out a lot lately." Jimin asks, poking Taehyung's side.
Taehyung snaps out of his thoughts and glances at Jimin. He debates on whether to tell him about you or not, but eventually gives in to his friend's persistence.
"It's a girl." He mutters, his eyes trained on a random spot on the ground.
Jimin's eyes widen at Taehyung's confession. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. His friend, the biggest playboy in school, was troubled by a girl?
"A girl?" Jimin asked, disbelief etched on his face.
Taehyung sighs and nods, still avoiding eye contact with Jimin.
"Yeah, a girl. She rejected me, like bluntly."
Jimin raised an eyebrow at that, his surprise growing even more. No girl had ever rejected Taehyung before, he couldn't imagine how he must be feeling right now.
"Rejected you? You must be joking. Which girl was it?"
Taehyung takes a deep breath and finally looks at Jimin.
"She's...different, from the other girls. She's not swooning over me like the rest of the girls, in fact she's been very clear about not being interested in me at all."
Jimin crosses his arms and looks at Taehyung with an amused look on his face. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. The great Kim Taehyung, rejected by a girl. That's when he had an epiphany.
"Wait a minute.... Could it be that girl you've been following around at school lately?"
Taehyung's eyes widen in surprise at Jimin's question. He hadn't realized that his friend had noticed him watching you. He stutters for a moment, trying to deny it.
"W-what? What are you talking about? I haven't been following anyone."
Jimin chuckles at Taehyung's weak attempt to deny it.
"Oh come on, don't lie to me. I've seen you staring at that girl, following her in the halls. Don't try to deny it, man."
Taehyung sighs, realizing there was no point in denying it anymore. He runs a hand through his hair and looks at Jimin sheepishly.
"Yeah, it's her. That girl.... she's different, I don't know why, but I can't get her out of my head. And the fact she rejected me is driving me crazy."
Jimin's smirk widens at Taehyung's confession. He was enjoying seeing his friend so flustered over a girl. He pats him on the back, trying to contain his amusement.
"Ah, so that's why you've been acting weird lately. You're not used to girls rejecting you, it's messing with your head, isn't it?"
Taehyung sighs in frustration and nods. He was used to girls falling at his feet, not treating him like he's not worth their time. He glances at Jimin, a pleading look in his eyes.
"What do I do hyung? I've never been turned down like this before. Its driving me nuts."
Jimin shrugs his shoulders, still smirking at Taehyung's predicament.
"Well, if I'm being honest, I don't think there's much you can do. If she's not interested, you can't force her to be."
Taehyung groans in frustration, raking his hand through his hair again.
"I know, but that's the thing, no? She shouldn't be unreceptive to my charm. Every girl falls for me, why not her?"
Jimin laughs at Taehyung's persistence.
"Maybe because she's not like those other girls. Maybe she's the first one to see through your bullshit."
Taehyung scowls at Jimin's words.
"What bullshit? My charm has worked on every girl I've approached. There's no way she's immune to it."
Jimin rolls his eyes, not buying Taehyung's argument.
"Maybe because she has a brain and isn't easily swayed by a pretty face and some sweet words?"
Taehyung opens his mouth to argue further but then closes it, realizing Jimin has a point. He lets out a huff, admitting defeat.
"Ugh, you're right. But it's maddening, you know. No other girl has ever seen through me like this before."
Jimin laughs and pats Taehyung on the back.
"You'll survive man, it's just one girl. There's plenty more who'll fall head over heels for you. Don't sweat it."
Taehyung nods, but deep down he knows Jimin's words don't give him any comfort. He can't explain it, but there's something about you that has him fixated. He can't shake the feeling that you are different than the rest.
"Yeah, I guess so. But she's under my skin, bro. I can't get her out of my damn head."
Jimin smirks at Taehyung's predicament, amused by his friend's obsession.
"Hey, don't let one girl get to you like that. You're Kim Taehyung, remember? You've got girls falling at your feet, one who's not interested in you shouldn't matter."
Taehyung knows Jimin's right, but he can't help but feel frustrated. He runs a hand through his hair, sighing.
"I know, but it's easier said than done. She's unlike any other girl I've met. She challenges me, man. That's what makes me even more frustrated."
Jimin raises an eyebrow at Taehyung, a curious expression on his face.
"Challenges? How's she challenging you?"
Taehyung sighs, struggling to find the words to explain.
"It's just... she doesn't react to me like other girls. She's not interested in my charms, she's not swooning over me. It's like no matter what I say or do, she doesn't care. I feel helpless."
Jimin chuckles at Taehyung's frustration, still finding the whole situation amusing.
"So you're not used to girls not being affected by your charm. She's a challenge, huh?"
Taehyung nods, his expression still frustrated.
"Yeah, I guess you can put it like that. I'm used to girls being all over me, you know? But she's completely ignoring me, like I'm not even worthy of her attention."
Jimin pats Taehyung on the back, trying to console his friend.
"Hey, man. You're the great Kim Taehyung. You don't need one girl's attention. Plenty of other girls are more than willing to give you all the attention in the world"
Taehyung sighs, knowing Jimin is right, but he can't shake the feeling of irritation at your rejection.
"I know, I know. But it's the principle, man. No girl has ever rejected me like that. It's messing with my damn ego."
Jimin lets out a laugh, shaking his head at Taehyung's stubbornness.
"Ego, huh? So this is all about your pride being hurt. Can't stand the fact that one girl isn't falling at your feet like the rest?"
Taehyung huffs, his pride clearly wounded. He crosses his arms, a defensive tone in his voice.
"Yeah, sue me. I can't stand the fact that she's not falling all over me like the rest of the girls. I'm used to getting whoever I want. But she doesn't want me, and it's pissing me off."
Jimin smirks and leans back against the wall, enjoying Taehyung's frustration.
"So, what are you going to do? You going to keep chasing after her like a lost puppy, trying to win her over?"
Taehyung scowls, not liking the idea of being compared to a puppy.
"Hell no. I'm not some damn lost puppy. I'm Kim Taehyung. But I can't just give up and admit defeat. I need to figure out a way to win her over."
Jimin shrugs, a sly grin on his face.
"And how are you going to do that? You tried your famous lines and your charming smile, and she didn't fall for it. What else you got up your sleeve?"
Taehyung contemplates for a moment, racking his brain for a solution. He groans in frustration when he comes up empty.
"I don't know, bro. I'm out of tricks. She's resistant to all my usual tactics, it's like she's built up some sort of immunity against my charm."
Jimin laughs at Taehyung's struggle, enjoying seeing his usually confident friend so flustered.
"I think you've met your match, man. She's immune to your charm. Maybe you should just admit defeat."
Taehyung frowns, stubborn and unwilling to give up so easily. He crosses his arms and looks at Jimin defiantly.
"Hell no. I'm not ready to admit defeat. There has to be some way to get through to her. I just need to find another angle, something she can't resist."
Jimin rolls his eyes, knowing how stubborn Taehyung can be. He crosses his arms, a smirk playing on his lips.
"What other angle, huh? You've tried everything, and she hasn't given in. Maybe it's time to accept that she's not interested."
Taehyung clenches his fists in frustration, hating that he's being backed into a corner.
"No, there has to be something. There has to be a way I can break down her resistance and make her see that she should be interested in me."
Jimin shakes his head, starting to lose patience with Taehyung's stubborness.
"Dude, why are you so obsessed with winning this girl over? There are plenty of other girls who'd kill to be with you. Stop being so fixated on this one girl who clearly isn't interested."
Taehyung scowls again, his pride wounded by Jimin's words. He runs a hand through his hair, frustration clear in his voice.
"I can't help it, man. She's driving me crazy. I can't get her out of my head. And the fact that she's not interested makes me want her even more."
Jimin rolls his eyes, starting to get tired of Taehyung's obsession.
"It's like you're addicted to the challenge. You're not used to girls resisting you, and that's driving you mad. It's your damn ego, man."
Taehyung grits his teeth, recognizing the truth in Jimin's words. He clenches his fists, his ego taking a major hit.
"Fine, maybe it's my ego. But that doesn't change the fact that I can't stop thinking about her. She's like a damn itch I can't scratch."
*imin laughs and shakes his head, amused by Taehyung's predicament.
"And you're sure that the only thing driving you is your ego? There's nothing else? No feelings that you can't admit?"
Taehyung frowns, caught off guard by Jimin's question.
"Feelings? What are you talking about? Of course it's just my ego, man. I'm not catching any feelings for this girl, she's just a challenge that I can't overcome."
Jimin rolls his eyes again, not buying Taehyung's denial.
"You sure about that, huh? You're spending all this time thinking about her, chasing after her, and you're still sticking to the "it's just my ego" defence? Sounds like you're in denial."
Taehyung scowls, frustration and irritation written all over his face.
"I'm not in denial! I'm not catching feelings for her, okay? I don't do feelings, man. I don't do serious relationships or getting all emotional. It's just my damn ego, that's all."
Jimin raises an eyebrow, skepticism evident on his face.
"So you're really gonna stick to that story? Even after the way you've been acting around her? Don't you think it's a bit strange how fixated you are on her? Seems like there might be more to it than just your ego, man."
Taehyung lets out a frustrated sigh, his mind racing. Jimin's words have struck a nerve and he's starting to question himself.
"I...I don't know, bro. Maybe you're right. Maybe there's a little more to it than I want to admit. But I can't let myself catch feelings for this girl. I don't do commitment or serious relationships. That's not who I am."
Jimin smirks, knowing he's getting through to Taehyung.
"And why can't you catch feelings for her, hmm? Because it goes against the image you've built for yourself as the school's biggest player? Can't have yourself becoming vulnerable, right?"
Taehyung huffs, knowing Jimin is hitting the nail on the head. He crosses his arms, defensiveness in his tone.
"Yeah, exactly. I've built my reputation on being the charming player. I can't risk that by getting serious with someone. Especially not someone who isn't even interested in me."
Jimin can't help but feel a sense of sympathy for his friend, but he's not going to let up yet.
"So you're just going to hold yourself back from something real because you're worried about your reputation? Sounds pretty shallow, you know. You really want to sacrifice potential happiness just to keep up a false image?"
Taehyung hesitates for a moment, the weight of Jimin's words sinking in. He looks down, contemplating the situation.
"I...I don't know, honestly. It's not that simple. I've built my reputation on being the player, and it's worked for me so far. But this girl, she's making me feel things I'm not used to. It's confusing and it's messing with my head."
Jimin sighs, seeing the inner struggle in Taehyung.
"I know it's not simple, man. But you've got to be honest with yourself. Are you really content with just being the player for the rest of your life? Or maybe there's a part of you that wants something more, something real?"
Taehyung sighs, his shoulders dropping as he admits the truth.
"Ugh. Deep down, maybe there is a part of me that wants something more than just being the player. But I've always buried it, focused on the ego boost and the easy conquests. This girl, she's bringing all those feelings back up to the surface, and it's messing with me."
Jimin nods, understanding Taehyung's struggle.
"It's scary, man. Opening yourself up to the possibility of something real and serious. Especially when you've spent so long focusing on the casual, no strings attached stuff. But the question is, are you willing to take that risk? To put your ego aside and really go after what you want, even if it means facing vulnerability and potential rejection?"
Taehyung lets out a deep sigh, wrestling with his thoughts. He looks up at Jimin, a mixture of uncertainty and determination in his eyes.
"I..I...its crazy. I'm scared of getting hurt. And I'm even more scared of being vulnerable. But at the same time, I can't get this girl out of my head. I can't stop thinking about her, even though she's rejected me multiple times."
Jimin smirks, sensing that Taehyung is starting to come around.
"It sounds like you're really hung up on her, man. And maybe it's not just about your ego. Maybe there's something about her that's different, that's making you feel things you've never experienced before."
Taehyung nods, finally admitting the truth.
"You're right. There is something about her that's different. She's not like any other girl I've met. She's smart, she's witty, and she's not afraid to stand up to me. And the fact that she's not falling at my feet like the rest of the girls is driving me nuts."
Jimin grins, seeing the realization dawning on Taehyung's face.
"So you're not just fascinated by the challenge of winning her over. You genuinely like her, man. You're developing feelings for her, whether you want to admit it or not."
Taehyung slumps back against the wall, his resistance crumbling.
"Yeah, I guess you're right. Damn it, hyung. I've caught feelings for her. And I don't know what to do about it. She's got me feeling things I've never felt before, and it's scaring the hell out of me."
Jimin pats Taehyung on the back, a supportive gesture.
"It's scary, I know. But it's also a good thing. It means you're capable of more than just casual flings. You're capable of feeling real emotions and wanting something more substantial."
Taehyung sighs, the weight of his admission still hanging over him.
"Yeah, I guess so. But what the hell do I do now? She's resistant to my charm, and she made it clear she's not interested in me. What am I supposed to do, just spill my feelings on the table? It's a recipe for rejection, man."
Jimin shrugs, his carefree demeanor returning.
"You never know until you try, right? Maybe she just needs to see a different side of you. Don't hide behind your charm and your ego. Show her who you really are. What have you got to lose, except your pride?"
Taehyung huffs, still uncertain.
"Yeah, my pride is everything to me, man. I'm Kim Taehyung, the biggest player in school. Showing vulnerability and revealing my true feelings, it goes against everything I stand for."
Jimin rolls his eyes, exasperated by Taehyung's stubbornness.
"Dude, your pride is going to be the death of you. You can't let your ego and your reputation keep you from being real. Women can see through that bullshit, man. You think this girl is going to want the player façade or the real you?"
Taehyung reluctantly nods, knowing Jimin has a point.
"I get it, man. I know hiding behind the player persona isn't going to win her over. But it's all I know, dude. It's all I've ever done. I don't even know how to be vulnerable and show my true feelings."
Jimin smiles, seeing some progress in Taehyung's thinking.
"It'll take some work, man. It won't be easy. But you gotta start by being real with yourself and with her. Stop hiding behind the player act. Show her who you really are, flaws and all. That's what she wants to see, man. She doesn't want the perfect, untouchable player. She wants the real you."
Taehyung nods, a sense of determination settling over him.
"Okay, man. I'll try. I don't know if I'll be any good at it, but I'll give it a shot. I'll try to be real with her, show her who I really am, and not hide behind the player bullshit."
Jimin pats him on the shoulder, a proud grin on his face.
"That's the spirit, bro. It won't be easy, but nothing worth having ever is. And if you really like this girl, it's worth putting yourself out there and taking the chance."
Taehyung nods, still feeling a bit uneasy but also a bit relieved to have admitted his feelings to Jimin.
"Yeah, you're right. I just hope she's open to seeing the real me. Otherwise, this is all gonna blow up in my face."
Jimin chuckles, a cheeky smirk on his face.
"Well, if it does blow up, I'll be here to pick up the pieces. And I'll be right there to say 'I told you so' when it all works out."
Taehyung can't help but laugh a little, knowing Jimin will never let him live it down if things go wrong.
"Thanks, hyung. I appreciate the support. Even if you're gonna be a dick about it if I get rejected."
Jimin shrugs, still wearing that cocky smirk.
"What are friends for if not to provide moral support and a healthy dose of mockery when you fail miserably?"
Taehyung rolls his eyes, both amused and annoyed at Jimin's antics. He punches him lightly on the arm.
"You're such an ass, man."
Jimin laughs, not minding the playful punch at all.
"You love me. You'd be a mess without me."
Taehyung laughs, shaking his head. Despite Jimin's obnoxious banter, he knows he wouldn't change him for anything.
"Yeah, yeah. You're irreplaceable. You and your endless supply of smartass commentary."
Jimin smirks, puffing out his chest.
"Damn right, I am. And you owe me big time for being such a good friend and dealing with your emotional turmoil."
You walk past them not paying any attention to them.
Taehyung's eyes dart towards you as you walk past, a mix of surprise and nervousness on his face. Jimin notices Taehyung's tense demeanor and pats him on the back, silently encouraging him.
Jimin whispers, pushing Taehyung subtly in your direction.
"Here's your chance, dude. Go talk to her."
Taehyung takes a deep breath, feeling his heartrate pick up. He glances at you before looking back at Jimin, uncertainty written all over his face.
"I...I don't know. What if she rejects me again?"
Jimin rolls his eyes, exasperated by Taehyung's hesitation.
"Dude, you'll never know if you don't try. And even if she rejects you, it's not the end of the world. You'll survive, I promise."
Taehyung takes another deep breath, steeling his nerves. He looks back at you, then at Jimin.
"Okay, I'll do it. But if I crash and burn, you're on wingman duty."
Jimin grins, giving Taehyung a thumbs up.
"You got it, man. I'll be right here, ready to pick up the pieces if you fail miserably."
Taehyung nods, taking a moment to mentally prepare himself. His heart pounds in his chest, but there's a hint of determination in his eyes.
"Alright, here goes nothing."
With that, he pushes himself off the wall and starts walking towards you.
Jimin watches from a distance, mentally cheering his friend on. He leans casually against the wall, ready to be the ultimate wingman if need be.
