YEAR 2009
"Oppa, how pretty is the ocean?"
The innocent question that slips out of your mouth seemed to shock your older brother who sat on your bed, holding the picture book he sneaked in for you.
Hoseok seemed to hesitate before his lips stretch into a gentle smile as he closed the book, wiggling closer to you, pulling you onto his lap.
"Well, it's very pretty. I've only seen it a couple of times when I went to my school's field trips. Busan was my favorite, the food was good."
You hummed in response, sinking into your pillow with a frown. You couldn't help but feel upset because you knew that you would never get to experience what your older brother did.
Go to school. Make friends in your class and go on school vacations. It wasn't possible for you and you couldn't help the disappointment that made you frown.
Hoseok was quick to notice your change of mood, the corner of his lips tugging down only for a second before replacing it with a blinding smile.
"Aw, Twinkle! We'll go one day for sure! We'll eat all the yummy street vending food and walk down the beach together! You and Oppa are gonna have so much fun!" Hoseok squealed as he pulled you close, his cheek pressing against the crown of your head as he squeezed you in a hug.
"But I want to see the ocean now! Is it really as big and blue as the book says?" You whined, wiggling out of Hoseok's hold. You couldn't help but act bratty with Hoseok, knowing the kind boy would let it slide. He was too sweet for his own good.
As you gave your brother a stare, he pondered for a moment before his eyes widened as if he realized something.
"I have pictures! I've taken pictures when I went this year!" The older boy excitedly gasped as he stood up, "I'll go get it right now."
You felt your stomach drop as he stepped away from you. Something in you was telling him not to go.
"Hoseok?!" Your yell for your brother seemed to die in your throat as his form became further.
'No... Don't go!' You screamed in your mind as your hand reached to grab hold of him.
"Oppa!!"
YEAR 2018
Your eyes snapped open in alarm, your ears picking up a dull sound of shuffling that immediately made you tense and wide awake.
"Fuck..." The curse slipped past your lips before you scrambled to your feet, swiftly throwing your bag over your shoulder onto your back. Your movements are slightly sloppy, your body not completely awake, as you almost stumble on your own feet. However, you're quick to gather yourself up, forcing yourself to become calm, your heart pounding against your chest as you listened with your eyes narrowed.
Your hand grips the small blade you always kept with you as you silently move to the window deciding that it was going to be your way out of the house in the worst scenario.
You strained your ears, listening carefully as you picked up the voices.
"Hyung, someone was here. Footprints."
You sucked in a breath; there was at least two of them, you think as you covered your mouth with your hand.
The voice seems to draw closer, and you felt your heart in your ears. However, it seemed to stop for a moment, making you shake in fear.
"Jungkook, we haven't scouted this area for more than a week. I'm sure whoever was in here is gone by now," a different voice from the first, a softer one spoke, sounding only couple foot away.
You swallowed, trying to lick the moisture back to your lips with a swipe of your tongue. It did no good, your heart almost leaping out of your throat as the sound of footsteps drew closer. You shouldn't move, no, couldn't would be more of an accurate word. Swallowing, you decided to stay still, tucking yourself behind the worn out couch while hoping the tremble in your hands would stop.
"You know, Hyung's not gonna be happy when he finds out someone trespassed, especially after we were finally able to clean out this area from the Dhampyrs." The words slowly became more distant until you could barely hear them.
When it became silent once more, you pulled your hand away from your mouth, releasing the breath you were holding.
You needed to get out of there. Now.
With all your things packed and placed on your back, you moved to the window to crack it open to slip through. Your eyes zoned in on the thick forest beside the house, knowing that was where you were going to escape.
"What the—"
You looked like a deer caught in headlights as your eyes met a man's who seemed as shocked as you felt, neither of you moving as he stared at you from outside the window.
You were hit with thousands of different, overwhelming emotions that made your body freeze. Fear, shock, and horror were only a couple.
For a moment, the two of you stayed frozen, neither of you reacting. He was taller than you with dyed blond hair that looked like it needed to be retouched soon. His eyes were round with shock, but you were sure that if they weren't, they would have been smaller and softer looking. If it were any other scenario, you would have thought that his lips that were a plump pink shaped into an "O" of surprise looked kissable.
You were the first to move, your hands scrambling to grab anything around you, which happened to be a lamp, chucking it at him as a distraction. You didn't bother to see if it hit it's aimed, only hearing the crash of it as it hit something.
"Shi— Jungkook! He's escaping!" The man was able to shout as you leaped out of the window, landing on the weed-infested ground with a clumsy roll.
You groaned at the dull pain but scrambled back to your feet, determined to sprint into the woods that would provide more place for you to hide. Your arms pumped beside you, your teeth gritting as you run for your life.
However, you didn't get far as a large form crashed into you with a, "You're not getting away!"
If felt like a cow sat on you, the air getting knocked out of your skinny form as you landed on the hard ground, the pebbles and branches pressing into your chest and face.
You grunt, your fingers digging into the soft earth as you kick your legs, trying to get free. The weight on top of you only increased in retaliation, and you feel a large hand grab the back of your head, pressing it into the dirt, making you taste bitter grass and soil.
"Jungkook! Did you catch him?!"
You grunt, wanting to scream in frustration but your words get muffled. However, you felt a small form of satisfaction when the man above you, Jungkook as you assumed, grunted when your elbow dug into his side, temporary knocking the air out of his lungs.
"Fucker, that hurt," the man's voice was filled with irritation as he tightened his hold on you. You held in a gasp as you felt him grab your arms, forcing them behind your back. The uncomfortable position almost became unbearable as he applied pressure, making your limbs twist in an awkward position that wasn't natural.
Biting down on your tongue, you felt your eyes water, but you were determined not to let a single sound escape your lips that allowed the men who captured you to feel satisfaction.
"Jimin-Hyung, I have a hold on him. Check his bag and then do a body check to see if he has weapons."
You paled at the words you heard, your struggling increasing as you tried to get the man off of you.
Jungkook, grunted, small curses leaving his lips, "He's small and skinny as a stick but quite strong."
Seconds later, after feeling and hearing your bag get examined, a small groan escaped your lips as you were dragged up to your feet by your arms, your joints cracking at the strange position.
First, your eye moved to your disregarded bag, all of your stuff dumped to the ground in a small pile. Your lips curl into a snarl and with your right eye narrowed in a glare while the left closed, you spit out the mouthful of dirt and grass, aiming for the blond man who moved to pat you down.
Just as you were about to move to kick him, the man who held you tightened his hold on you as he whispered into your ear, his warm breath fanning against the exposed skin.
"I dare you, the second you move your legs, say goodbye to your shoulder. I'll dislocate it," the man seemed to be true to his threat. He twisted your arm in a way that made you feel strains on your shoulders, and you knew that if he twisted them any harder, they would pop out of their sockets.
You bit back a remark as you stood up still, making sure your cap hid your eyes as the man before you slowly began to pat you down from the legs up.
You helplessly watched as he pulled your two pocket knives out of your new pair of baggy jeans, dropping it to the floor next to your abandoned bag.
Your breath hitched, your heart thrumming against your chest as he moved higher, his hands patting down your waist. Jimin, the man who patted you down, looked confused for a moment, his eyebrows furrowing as he realized how big your hoodie was on your form and how true Jungkook's earlier statement was.
You were skinny as a stick.
His eyebrows shot up for a moment, his thick lips parting as his hands moved higher. His eyes travel to your face before moving back to where his hands were placed near your chest.
No...
It wasn't possible—
You could feel your cheeks flushing, but you kept your eyes stoic as your lips curled into a snarl.
The man's reaction hinted that he had realized your secret. But you were going to play dumb until the last moment even if it meant the death of you.
"He's clear..." the blond male mumbled as he crouched down to pick up the weapons he took away from you.
Jungkook responded with a grunt, nodding at the older man as he was handed ropes from their bag to tie your hands together behind your back.
You bit back the wince as the rough material dug into your sensitive skin around your wrist. To add to the pain, they tied your feet together as well, making it literally impossible to even stand.
When you were tied down, the two men stared down at you from where you sat on the floor.
For the first time, you were able to see the man who tackled you down. He was taller than the blond with dark hair that's messily pushed out of his eyes. His eyes were harsh and narrowed on you dangerously; his lips pulled to a thin line. His round eyes made him look childlike but seeing the intensity of them, you knew this man wouldn't hesitate to kill someone to survive.
The blond, on the other hand, continued to stare at you in curiosity. He looked softer than the male beside him, but he seemed to know your secret, his eyes filled with fascination as he eyed you.
"Well, aren't you scarred up," Jungkook whistled as he took your chin between his fingers, lifting your face up to get a better look. You could feel his heated gaze on your left side of your face, especially around your eyes.
You hold back your tongue, sending him an angry glare with one eye. The man apparently doesn't care as his other hand moved to your scarred up eyelid. You flinch but can't pull away as he uses his forefinger and thumb to pry your eyelids open.
"Oh shit," Jungkook gasps as he gets a good look at your eye.
Pupilless and white, almost purplish blue.
"You're blind. How the hell have you survived so far?" He questioned as he moves to the side to allow Jimin to have a look as well.
You don't reply, only grunting as you look away. You weren't completely blind...
"Come on, Jungkookie, we've already been out too long. They're probably worried about us, and we need to get back before it gets dark," the blond male looked away from the taller man as he turned his attention to you, "And I'm sure Namjoon would be interested about who we've found."
You grit your teeth, your hand balling into a fist. You wanted to punch these guys in the face so much...
A look of surprise spread across Jungkook's face, his eyebrows furrowing as he looked down at his friend.
"We're taking him back with us?" The tall man questioned, his words becoming a few octaves higher. "We usually jus-"
"Pick him up, Kook. Trust me, Namjoon is going to want to meet this one."
You watched the two men's exchange with your hope to be released slowly diminishing. God, let them lea-
Your eyes widened, not being able to help the yelp as Jungkook effortlessly threw you over his shoulder with one arm, lifting you up like a sack of potatoes.
Your body was easily tossed into the van, your eyes filling with panic as you helplessly watched as the metal doors closed with a loud bang that echoed through your head, signaling that the freedom you have been tasting for the past two years was being stolen from you.
You were royally screwed.
