Chapter Twenty Two

Jenna glared deeply at the ground while sitting on the trunk of the car, her elbow propped on her knee and the gun in her hand. She had a murderous look in her brown eyes as thoughts of what had transpired earlier went through her head.
She blinked, and ruffled her hair then sniffed and let out a dry laughter as she remembered that her finger no longer had her wedding ring around it. She looked up at the dark sky, and laughed out drily for a few seconds before clamping her mouth shut with a blank expression on.
"Wait, how did they find me?" She asked after a heavy wave of realization hit her. "I called Gloria and- that wench! Gloria gave me away! Why are people betraying me?!"
Jenna jumped off the car, and started to pace around, while hitting the base of her occupied hand on her forehead. She moved around while hissing then stopped in her tracks.
"Calm down, Jenna. At this moment, no one knows where you are and you can easily make them do what you want right now. But what?" She asked and rubbed her face, her eyes darting around the area in deep thoughts.

Jonathan clenched his fists as soon as the information about his wife's escape got to him. He gritted his teeth while glaring at Luke and the other police officers in his living room.
"So, you mean to tell me that with all the officers you had around her room and that hospital, she still escaped?" Jonathan asked, his brown eyes clouded with the rage boiling in his chest. He felt his eyes twitch when Luke nodded with an affirmative hum.
"Jenna is really good with stealth and fighting. She escaped all of us, it really still shocks me," Luke replied in defense, and Jonathan laughed out humorlessly.
"Of course she is, she's a black belt holder. She's a good swordsman, a karate genius, her father taught her how to use a gun! Yes, she's really good, and can sneak up on anyone!" Jonathan retorted and tossed his arms over his head in agitation. He felt his anger fly through the roof at his helpless condition. The more the idea of Jenna's escape rang in his head, the painful the death of Vera took over his mind and body.
"We know about that. We ran a background check on her, but the only thing right now is finding out where she is. We had our team look through the camera footage but the only thing we got last was her around the hospital building," Luke said, running his hand through his hair.
"All I want is to have her behind bars, is that so hard?" Jonathan demanded, craning his head. "I do not care how you all do it! I don't care if you have all the police and detectives in New York do it, but I want to have that woman where I want her to be."
"Well, it's not as easy as you think it is. And it's not like she'll call anytime soon," the officer beside them stated in a hard tone, and immediately, the home phone rang out, causing them to stand still and silent. All eyes on the device with breaths held.
The men shared a knowing look before Jonathan raised his hand at them, and walked over to the phone. He stared down at the ringing device, and hesitantly picked it up then pressed it against his ear.
"Hanks residence."
"Hello, dear husband," Jenna said and Jonathan's eyes widened before he signalled the men in the room.
"Jenna, where are you?" He demanded and she laughed. He made eye contact with Luke who was leaning against the table in his living room, where laptops were placed with his men working.
"Don't ask like you care for me, hubby. I know you want me out of your life, so spare me that concern."
He sighed. "You won't run away from the law for long, Jenna. Own up to your crimes and all these won't be a problem."
"A problem? Really?" She laughed hard. "Please, just stop it. If anything, it is your fault that I am like this! You should have never cheated on me! You should have never paid attention to another woman! You should have given me more love and attention! How hard was that?! Jon, I loved you and all you repay me with was disloyalty and heart break. What did I ever do to you, and now you want a divorce?"
"Yes, a divorce because when the priest said For Better or For Worse, he did not mean a murderer or a psychopath! Jenna, come out of your hiding and stop controlling the fate of others," he growled, and ended the call, breathing heavily through his flared nostrils.
"Were you able to track the number?" Jonathan asked, and one of the detectives working on his laptop, nodded. "Good."
Jonathan dropped the phone, and started his way towards the front door.
"Where are you going?" Luke asked, jogging up to him in confusion.
"I'll be back soon. I have someone to talk to," he replied, and left the house then jogged out of the yard and into the street.
After a few short minutes of walking through the lonely neighborhood, Jonathan tucked his hand into his sweatshirt pockets and removed one hand with his phone in it. He dialed a number, and placed the device on his ear.
"Hello, can I talk to you? Listen, I'm sorry for ever hurting you and leaving you. I-I just need someone who actually cares for me right now. And you are the only one who actually knows what's happening, and can truly understand. Can we put our differences aside, and talk? I'm... I just need someone to confide in," Jonathan said, his voice filled with softness, and one too many emotions as he continued his slow strides through his neighborhood. "Are you home? Okay, I'll be-"
Jonathan felt a sharp sting after feeling a heavy bang on the back of his head, before he dropped his phone to the tarred ground. He staggered around and came face to face with a hooded figure, and the moment he opened his mouth to speak, he felt a punch to his temple, which had him losing consciousness with a heavy thud, the moment he collided on the moist ground.

Jonathan groaned as the back of his head and neck throbbed in pain. He clenched his eyes tight against it, and blinked until he could see clearly, and realized that he was in a bedroom of their condominium. He narrowed his eyes as he took in the environment in confusion before he looked down to realize that he was sitting in a chair, all tied up from behind and had tape on his mouth.
His breath hitched when he heard footsteps from outside the room, and waited in fear for whoever it was to walk in. He watched as the door was pushed open, and in came his wife, dressed in a long black dress while her red hair was swept half way back with a few locks over her face.
"Hello, Jonathan," she said, and walked over to him then crouched down to his sitting posture. "How are you?"
Jonathan struggled on the chair while glaring at Jenna who only smirked at him with a glint of joy in her eyes. He gave up after failed attempts of freeing himself, and shook his head slowly with an eyebrow cocked in question.
"Tsk, are you trying to ask me why I have you here?" She asked, grinning. "Come on, that isn't necessary, is it? You and I both know why you're here."
She stood straight, walked over to a corner in the room where there was a chair, took it and dropped it in front of him.
"I'm doing this to remind you who you married, and why you married her," she said, and a frown masked her face. "I'm sure you know how much you love her, and how much she loves you. You told her that you'd give her the world. That you would make her the only woman in the world, and never break her poor heart."
Jenna feigned a sob with a hand on her left chest then cackled, and later quieted down with another frown stretched on her face.
"How do you do it?" She whispered with a crane of her head. "How do you trap someone into something so beautiful, and go ahead to do something else with another? How? I am so curious, dear husband."
She watched as he glared daggers at her before she stretched her hand to his face, caressing his cheek down to his neck then back to his cheek. Jenna giggled, and leaned back into her chair and exhaled.
"Why did you lie to me, Jonathan?" She asked grimly, and watched as Jonathan rolled his eyes. "Why couldn't you give me what you gave her. That look, that care, that love, that attention. Why didn't you give me all of that? It was supposed to be for me alone!"
Jenna covered her face with her hands, inhaled deeply and exhaled hard. She removed her hands, and looked up at the ceiling then down at him after taking another deep inhale and exhale.
"You turned me into a fool, Jonny. I should have listened to people when they told me to think twice into this marriage but no! Jenna was a fool in love and wanted love at all means. I should have known." She whispered in a hoarse voice then leaned towards Jonathan, touched his nose and shook her head.
"I've never had so much regret in my life and as if the heartache wasn't enough, you took the only thing I was hanging onto," she paused as her eyes began to brim with tears and lips quivered. "You had to take away my wedding ring. What did I ever do to you?! What?!"
Jonathan flinched at her loud voice, and looked down as the heavy weight of sadness took over his body, while Jenna glared at him before removing the tape off his mouth, making him groan out in pain.
"Anything happening now is your fault," he said, and earned a slap from Jenna who abruptly stood up and threw the chair aside.
"Stop! It's your fault! You broke me, you made me grow in jealousy! Why didn't you abide to the vows of our marriage? Why did you take a knife and stabbed me in the heart?!" Jenna demanded, and grabbed his cheeks.
Jonathan scoffed. "You sound pathetic, Jenna. Grow up and get in your head that I never cheated on you."
"Don't lie to me," she whispered and tightened her hold on his soft cheeks, ignoring the hiss from the man. "I saw the looks you gave her. I saw how comfortable the both of you got. And I saw you two cheat on me! Stop lying."
Jenna dropped at his feet and began to weep, her fists clenched and arm throbbing in pain from the dog bites. She looked up at him with a teary face and anger etched on her fave. She stood up slowly, and wiped her cheeks clean then walked over to a corner in the room where she unplugged an iron, making Jonathan begin to fidget in his seat.
Jenna took the iron, and stared at it blankly then turned around. She raised her eyes from the device, and made eye contact with her husband who was shaking his head. His brown eyes were filled with horror, brimmed with tears and sweat began to pool on the skin of his face.
"W-What are you doing with that? Drop it, Jenna. Don't do anything stupid," he pleaded as she walked slowly with her gaze on the steaming electronic device. A dark look occupied her eyes, as a small smile tugged at her lips when she glanced at the gulping man.
Jenna smiled wider. "We fell in love, you became mine and I, yours. And since the world can't see it, let me make it so obvious, hm?"
She smiled down at the fear stricken man then looked down at his bare arms. Jenna laughed for a moment, then drop the hot iron onto his bare arm, making him scream in excruciating pain as the smell of burning flesh and the sound of it, filled the room.
"You're mine, Jonathan. Mine!"
