Chapter Twenty Six

Gloria kissed her teeth as she came back to reality. She kept her elbows on her thighs, as she was sitting on the ground with legs crossed over the other. She lazily stared at the tombstones, then cracked a smile, and shifted her gaze from the stones to a random spot above them.

"It was so easy to manipulate everything, and I was so proud that I could do such a thing. You might even be wondering if I didn't have sympathy but I didn't. Why would I? When the result of my unhappiness was right in front of me," she narrated and chuckled.

"I'm ready to sit here, and tell you how I ruined your lives," she said drily, and let out a hearty laughter. "Oh, it was such an amazing feeling to see the hurt I felt in your eyes. That feeling of betrayal and heartbreak. Anyways, do you remember when we both walked over to your house after the whole Valentine scandal? Let me tell you a secret..."

Flashback...

With a face masked into a frown, and her foot tapping on the floor of the boisterous dance studio crowded with young dancers in their spandex, and or sweatsuits. Gloria glanced around the area, while she was leaned against the wall, impatience oozing off her being.

"I really don't have all day," she said under her breath, and checked her wristwatch.

"Gloria Burrell?" A soft voice reached her ears, making her drop her hand and raise her head to see who it was. She felt her breath hitch at the young woman standing in front of her.

The woman in a purple spandex from up to down, resembled the person she wanted for her plan. She had the same height, bob hair, facial structure, and body size. She was Vera's doppelganger, it made a smile creep up on Gloria's face.

"And you must be Eva," she said, offering her hand out for a handshake which the woman took firmly. "I'm sure you got my email about wanting to make use of you."

Eva nodded. "Yes, and I'm not still sure what you want me to do."

A few hours later, Gloria and Eva were sitting in her car, parked a few walks away from Jonathan's house. Eva had a curious look on her face, while Gloria had a sly smile on hers as they stared at the house in front of them.

"Why are you doing this? I'm sure he's happy in his marriage for you to plan such a dub-"

"Know your place, Eva. I won't hesitate to make sure that your sister dies in the hospital if you do not do this for me. You want to save your sister, right? You need this money, right? Now, you will follow what I asked you to do. And if it fails, I'll make sure that your sister doesn't get her treatment,", Gloria said in a deep tone, and Eva gulped down the bile in her throat at the heat in the brown skinned woman's eyes.

"P-please, I'll do it. Just don't hurt my sister," Eva pleaded with a nod of her head.

"Good."

...

"I hired someone who looked just like Vera, I made sure that Jonathan was sedated through his drink, and by the time we got there, the girl had stripped him naked and laid beside him to make it look like he was cheating on you."

Gloria fell silent for a moment, and after a few short seconds, she began to frown deeply and clenched the blades of grasses underneath her with her fingers.

"And the worst if all, Jonathan really loved you so much that he couldn't cheat on you with that girl! Why didn't he just cheat and your marriage would've been over. I would have gotten back together with him. I loved him and you took him away from me!" She yelled and broke down, covering her ears and crying hard. "You made me like this, I didn't want this but you made me do this."

She stopped and wiped her cheeks then hugged her knees together, her eyes on her discarded heels beside her on the grass.

"I was so happy when I found out that you were in an accident and at the same time when you told me that, I was furious as to why you didn't die! You could've died so I could end up with the love of my life!" She hollered and clenched her fists so hard then smirked. "Then I enjoyed the rage, the hate and the danger in your eyes. I fed from it and it gave me the pleasure. Call me sadistic but I don't care!

"And while you had that accident, I was beginning to worry about where you went. Of course, my darling Jonathan got worried about your whereabouts, and I lied to him that you were with your mother. And when your mom asked where you were, I told her that you were on a business trip. I did it to make it look like when they asked you where you were personally, it would seem like you were lying to both of them. Moving on,

"I heard you killed that bitch, Vera, and I was so glad because she was already getting on my nerves with her closeness to my man. I felt like celebrating and thanking you but I couldn't. It would've blown my cover so I acted so innocent, and threatened by your desperation and madness. When you escaped, I had to rat you out instantly," she laughed so hard that she had tears in her eyes and wiped it off after. "It was so funny, and when I found out that you had kidnapped my Jonny, I saw red and wanted to kill you myself!"

Gloria crawled over to Jonathan's grave and laid on it. She ran her fingers on the ground and began to cry out once again.

"She took you away from me, Jon. I felt so burdened that I was so helpless. I wanted you all to myself, that I had to do all of these but if I had known that you wouldn't live to be mine, I could have stopped but you can't blame me," she said, and raised her head up to glare at Jenna's headstone. "I pray that she is rotting in hell. You will rot in hell for taking away my happiness and for the death of my soulmate! I wish I could kill you over and over again! I hate you, Jenna! I hate you. Die!"

Gloria rushed onto her own grave and started punching the hard ground, ignoring the bruises and blood that began to make themselves visible on her fist. She kept on punching in rage, tears flowing down and sweat dripping out of her skin.

"I hate you for taking my happiness! I hate you! I hate you! Just die! Keep dying!" She hollered in anger, and stopped to cry harder with her arms wrapped around her body. She took deep calming breathes and tilted her head back, and looked up at the sky. "Come back to me, Jonathan. You belong to me alone, me alone. Don't do this to me, you can't be dead. I haven't been able to survive or live with this unhappiness. Please, come back to me."

She crawled over to his grave and ran her shaking fingers over it.

"I want you back, Jonathan. Don't do this to me, please," she whispered and kissed the headstone. "I love you so very much and I want your arms around me."

Gloria moved back and wiped her cheeks, grabbed the remaining one flower and dropped it on his grave. She smiled and stood up, dusted her body and picked up her shoes.

"Everyday, for the rest of my life, I'll bring your favorite flowers until death brings me to you, my love," she said and glanced briefly at Jenna's grave before walking away.

She strolled silently to her car, unlocked the car, boarded it, then tossed her shoes in the back and started the engine. She looked at her reflection in the rear mirror and wiped her cheeks dry, picked up her lipstick and coated her lips with it. After smacking her lips, she tuned the radio on and smiled to the song playing on the station.

"Not everyone gets a happy ending and I'm glad I am not alone. If I can't have him, then one can have him. Good thinking, Jenna," she said, grinning from ear to ear.

Gloria danced to the song on her seat, moving side to side and bopping her head and even singing along to the song. She drove on and slowed down a bit when she saw a familiar car nearing hers. She gasped, picked up her glasses from the seat beside her and put it on then watched behind the glasses as Luke drove past her into the cemetery.

She rolled up her window when the car passed, increased the volume of the radio and drove away.

Luke approached the graves of the late couple and instantly, he got a feeling that someone had been there. He furrowed his brows and looked around the deserted area then glanced down at the cemented graves. His eyes flickered over at the good flower resting ontop of Jonathan's grave then at the crushed and discarded flower close to Jenna's. He placed his hand into the inner pocket of his Jacket and pulled out a glove which he wore and picked up the flower.

"Something is definitely wrong with the placement of these flowers," he said and saw blood stains on Jenna's grave. "How's there blood on that?" He sniffed the flower and reeled his head back. "And it's still fresh."

He pulled out a packet of cotton swabs and rubbed a single cotton swab on the bloody surface then placed it into a smaller plastic bag he had pulled out. The dark haired man unlocked his phone and took pictures of the scene, and while he looked at the pictures in his phone, he saw numerous kiss stains on Jonathan's grave. His lips twitched as he stared at the original spot. Without much hesitation, he used the cotton swab on the surface, and took samples then packaged all of them into a bigger plastic bag.

"This doesn't seem right; just like I've studied this case. There's an ulterior motive behind all of this, especially after seeing those pictures that Jenna received, including the ones she didn't see that was stashed in her mailbox," Luke said and stood up. He rubbed his lips in thought and hummed.

"Jonathan had a picture of Vera wearing the exact same lingerie while Jenna had the same set. It all fell on the same day that Gloria told us about the Valentine issue. Jenna can only be triggered to do all of these things and whoever did this, used her weakness for something vengeful," he mused, and looked down at the samples. "And this may be the person."

Luke hurriedly pulled out his phone and dialed a number that answered instantly.

"We need to open the Hanks case again. I think I've got a clue to who may be behind this," he said and ended the call then turned around to where his car was but paused when he almost bumped into a young brunette haired woman. "Uh. Who are you?"

She sighed. "An eye witness from the very beginning of this all."

Luke senses kicked in, the gnawing feeling of seeking the truth occupied his eyes, and the desire to unmask the true suspect behind everything came tenfold to him.

"And who are you?" He asked, drawing closer to the woman.

The brunette looked down at the graves behind the tall man, then glanced back into his dilated eyes.

"My name's Arya Gate. I was Jonathan's girlfriend, who he broke up with because he cheated on me with someone. Let's just say; he actually cheated on me, broke up with me, and married Jenna. I forgave him, but he was manipulated by the same person who caused all of these. We were all manipulated, and I am here to find and destroy her," Arya said in a strong tone, and eyes filled with a dark shadow.
