.

Jimin was Death itself. He went to find Jungkook when he was but a teen desperate to forfeit, deciding the cards he was dealt too weak to make anything out of, if not lose it all and himself along.

He was a bridge another world with no strings attached to the boy's, until he called his name.

They understood each other, loved each other, and vowed to never leave one another. Come with me, said Death, you will feel more alive than you ever have.

He looked forward to the next and last meeting they'd have on different sides of the same coin, but as the moon waned on that fateful night, Death was left with the same loneliness he had always known.

I would die for you Jimin, but there is someone I want to live for. Come find me when the time is right, come take me where we dreamed to go. I will always be yours, said Jungkook, before Death kissed him back into his unconsious body.

He wanted to live, and so he did. Abandoned in the realm of the living with no relief. All he knew lifetimes ago changed in countless ways. He watched life be born and wither away too many times.

Have I not suffered enough? When will I see you again, my love? I sleep and wake alone, I walk alone and cry alone. You kissed me to my youth every time I took a breath meant to be my last. Please take me now as you took everything around me.

Jungkook stood at the edge of a cliff, ready to jump yet another time and let himself be carried by the wind. He couldn't die but he could fly, at least until he woke up on the surface again, unharmed and safe, painless and alive.

It's meaningless, he thought as he stared up at the stars, those that still shined the way his eyes no longer could. The constellations showed him the secrets his future held, so he wished for a black sky.

He laid in a meadow amongst the fragile flowers. He was once fragile too, then he fell in love, and broke a heart. He took a deep breath as he closed his eyes, the image of the rising sun engraving itself in the back of his mind while he wished for it to be the last. Again.

Just the like the breeze, cold, gentle fingers fell upon his cheek, and his breath shuddered. His chest filled with warmth and his eyes burned before a tear slid down his temple. The touch of Death, he could never forget it, he could never forget him

You're here, he said. His eyes brimming with hope as he finally gazed upon the face he thought forever lost. You finally heard me, please set me free, he begged.

I have missed you my love, said Death, smiling down at him the same way he did centuries ago. Then how come you never visited? said the mortal, thinking of all the times he cried at his windowsill with his name at the tip of his tongue.

I was hurt, replied he.

In this moment, the only star Jungkook could see was the man in front of him, the echo of a love that burned ages past. Was it finally the end? he wondered as he gazed at him and filled his eyes with his beauty.

You left me behind, he whispered, finally letting the pains of his lifetimes resurface.

I watched you love her, grow old with her, and when I finally led her to the other side I thought it was my turn. I kissed you back to how I first saw you, young and beautiful, but I couldn't stay, the other admitted.

You kissed me hundreds of times after that, yet took everything else. Why not let me be with you at last? Jungkook said, squeezing his hand tighter as though he would disappear otherwise.

Did you feel lonely? asked Death.

The loneliest, he replied.

You had a family, families, you had knowledge and wisdom, wealth and the gift of youth, the other began to mention.

The hatred I harboured for my newly youthful face when I dreamed of you the night prior , I wanted you to come hold me in your arms as you did the first time, I ached for your love, I would've traded everything in a second if it meant seeing you sooner.

Are you happy to see me now? asked Death.

The happiest, he replied.

You were my light Jungkookie. Death smiled at him before bringing his knuckles to his lips and making his head spin in bliss over hearing the long missed name. My existence suddenly had a deeper meaning. Right, escorting all those souls away while I yearned for having one of my own wasn't punishment. It was so I could finally find yours and let you complete me. He said as his fingers carded through his soft hair, once again dark and full, naturally intertwining with the long strands of grass he laid in.

I'm here now.
