~ Chapter 1 ~

I awoke to a loud ring. I lazily looked to my side and saw my alarm clock ringing loudly - with a quick movement (well, the quickest you can be at 6am!) I shut off the loud alarm.

I let out a sigh and sat upright in bed. I looked over at my mirror in the far corner and saw a slight glimpse of myself - of my horrificly ugly self!

I woke up to my brown curls being all clamped together in a massive knot. My chocolate brown eyes looking heavy and bags under my eyes. My slightly tanned complexion having a slight paleness brought to it.

Truly horrific!

Anyway, I got up out of bed and made my way to the bathroom. I turned the shower nozzle on and listened to the pitter patter of the water droplets colliding with the floor. I sighed again - this time in sadness for today was the first day of school. Secondary school to be more precise.

I'm now taking the step towards my future, far away from my childhood. Today I change from a true child to a teenager. This is big - especially for someone unusually childish such as myself.

After I had a quick shower I went back into my room and got changed into some plain, boring uniform. A skirt, T-shirt, blazer and tie made up my very unimaginative uniform. I looked at myself in the mirror and sighed at the sad, droopy uniform - was I really ready to fully grow up?

I quickly brushed through my bushy mane before galloping down the stairs.

"morning mother!" I happily said as I prodded into the kitchen.

I watched as my mother sharply turned around and looked at me with that loving look of hers, "morning sweetheart!".

I jumped into my usual seat and looked at the glorious plate of deliciousness bestowed upon me - a plate full of pancakes and Strawberries. Yum!

I devoured my plateful and eagerly drank the orange juice carefully placed besides my plate. My mother truly was amazing.

About halfway of me drinking my drink I felt a pat on my head.

"slow down there sis!" my older brother said as he waltzed around to his usual seat at the dining table.

I continued to down my drink with now a glare placed on my face, specifically for my evil brother - how dare he pat my head of hair! He then let out a little chuckle with an immediate smack across his head by my mother - this made me chuckle.

My mother then gave me a glare, "No fighting, no glaring, no ill intent around this dinner table - you both know the rules!" my mother scolded.

I looked down at my now empty drink in guilt. I never meant to cause any trouble , I never meant to be so childish.

"you should both get going to school." my mother said as she patted my shoulder. She brought her head down to my level and turned me to look at her, "your growing up so quickly."

She placed her hand on my cheek, "don't grow up too much, Delilah."

I looked my mother in the eye and smiled weakly, "I won't mother. I promise."

My insides screamed in betrayal for I know that I must grow up - and fast at that.

My mother stood to her full height again and gave me my bag. She then turned to my now standing older brother who easily toward my mother.

"Take care of your younger sister. It's her first day and she will need help. Do you understand what I am asking of you, Adrian?" My mother questioned.

Adrian nodded his head and looked over at me, "let's go sis!" He said as he gave me a soothing smile. A smile which said - it's okay.

I gave him a reassuring smile and stood from my seat. I walked up to my brother and walked out the house with him by my side. My older brother was finally going to prove his maturity and his brotherlyhood.

As soon as that thought passed through my head, a jeep came speeding down the road and halted outside our house.

My brother ran up ahead and fist bumped all the guys fists and cheerfully said, "how's my lads today?"

They all laughed and shouted out 'good'. How was I not surprised? My brother is never really the brother type so why do I think today of all days, he'd suddenly change.

I let out a sigh and slowly walked besides my big brother. I could see my brother was about to jump into the Jeep but I nudged him as a way of saying not to but he took it a different way.

My brother looked down at me and smiled at me then back at his mates, "lads, this is my sister, Delilah." After that was said I heard a couple wolf whistles and some people say that I was good looking for being his sister. I could practically feel their gazes staring right through me and it was extremely uncomfortable.

My brother then jumped in the car and stared at me, "get in, sis!" He said with a wide smile on his face.

I looked at the ground and slowly got into the car.

I can officially say this was the most uncomfortable and dangerous car ride I have EVER been in and I've been in many car rides before. Uncomfortable because I was being stared down by my brothers 'lads' and dangerous because the driver was an absolute maniac. In all fairness, I'm surprised we actually made it through the car journey alive.

We all hoped out of the Jeep once we got to school. All of the 'lads' went running forward in pride whilst I stood back - more reserved. However I couldn't really do what I intended because my brother was pulling me along with them. As I was being dragged I could hear everyone questioning who I was and what the hell I was doing with these guys.

I guess I've fallen into the wrong group. Way to go Delilah! secondary schools now going to be utter hell!
