Chapter 8
Varek
"Such a simplistic but classic style. . ." I said simply and he growled a bit.
"Just tell me who you are!" I turned to face him and I crossed my arms while giving him a cold look.
"That only depends on who's asking, so you tell me first," I said and I noticed he was shaking in his clothing and I smirked a bit as I walked up until the gun touched my chest. "From the looks of it, you're a lackey, aren't ya?" I asked with a small smirk and he seemed frozen up. I grabbed the gun and smirked, pushing it away from me and he yelled in surprise and shot the gun, only suceeding in blasting a hole in a tree behind me as I knocked him down and punched hjm in the face hard enough to knock him out. I tore the mask off and dragged his unconscious body back to the League Hideout.
Lillie
"Toga! Big Sis Mag!" I exclaimed and I pounced Toga in a hug from behind and both of them looked at me as Toga grabbed me to make sure I didn't fall off.
"What is it, kid?" Magne asked and I got a grin.
"How about we go around town for a bit while we wait for Birdie and Twice to come back?!" I exclaimed excitedly, hoping to get some ice cream and sweets.
"That sounds great!" Toga said and Magne grinned.
"Sure," I giggled a bit, happily.
"Yay!"
After a while, I was requesting a lot of things for Toga to grab and Magne grabbed some things as well. Mostly sweets or toy related things though, but mostly sweets.
We eventually left the shop and I heard a conversation between Magne and Toga while I hummed silently.
"It's a little concerning that Blake nor Twice have came back yet, don't you think?"
"Yeah, but if it's Blake, I'm pretty sure she can handle it and hopefully Twice won't go without his mask," Toga said and I stopped walking, making the othef two stop as well.
"Blake can handle herself with Mommy and Daddy," I said witha small smile and then I looked back at them with a smile. "Besides, she always tries teaching Mommy and Daddy not to be big meanies, but it doesn't usually work. That's why she took me away from that place two years ago," I said and they both stared at me for a moment.
"Took you away?" Magne asked and I nodded with a happy hum.
"Yup!"
"By the way, is your leg still hurting you?"
"No, cause Auntie healed it right up!" I exclaimed and Toga grinned.
"She has a healing quirk?!"
I nodded with a hum of approval. "Yeah! It's really awesome to watch her fighting too! She hardly ever does, which makes it all the more exciting!" I exclaimed happily.
"Guess you really look up to your aunt, huh, Lillie?" Magne asked and I nodded.
"Yup! She's a really nice person!" I exclaimed and Toga giggled a bit.
"Let's go rob the next store~! We can teach you all of the ropes," She said and I nodded.
"Okay!"
Blake
I was just coming out of the shower and I sighed, walking out of the shower and I stared at myself in the mirror for a little while. I didn't exactly bdlieve in getting bad luck from things like a tails up penny when hou pick it up or staring at a mirror too long or anything. How long is too long when you stare at yourself in the mirror though?
I used my quirk to make my body trdat itself like it was a stove, trying to heat up a pan to evaporate the water from me, but it had no effect on the towel though.
"Blake," I heard the door open and I became startled when Twice had come in. "Oh my god!" He became startled for a moment before smirking a bit as he stared at my body for a bit my face completely heated up. "Oh my god,"
"Twice, get out!" I yelled quickly as I shoved him out and shut the door, since I only thought he'd end up staying there the whole time. I felt my chest racing a lot at the fact he just saw me in a towel, but I guess it was better than being fully naked. . .and the fact he said it the way he did at the last point. . .it made me feel even more embarrassed. I stayed against the door to keep him from coming in again.
I completely forgot I escaped the mansion with him and not Lillie. . . But he just had to barge in like he did while I had no clothes on, didn't he. . .? I thought, now completely embarrassed. For some reason, I felt like I shouldn't mind, though. It was the weirdest feeling I've had in. . .well, forever actually. I was never allowed to date or see anyone for the longest time because my parents only wanted to use me as their tool to defeat All Might, but I had no interest in it and when the thought came across to me, I felt like my heart was trying to self-destruct on itself. I then decided to ignore the feeling and I went over and wrapped my body in a towel before I grabbed my clothes and I went to the roon and I went into the closet before I started getting dressed in clothes I had left here.
"You alright, Blake," Twice asked from the bedroom.
"I'll be fine," I said and it sounded like he sat on the bed.
"Sorry about barging on you earlier," he said and I felt my face heat back up again.
"Just don't mention it to anyone else, and it's all good. . ." I said and he seemed to smile in his next tone.
"Alright!" He exclaimed and I sighed in relief before I finished getting dressed.
"Since we stayed the night here, we should probably get going to the hideout before Mom and Dad come here in search of me." I said and I put on my leather jacket and I left the closet before heading to the desk.
"So they'll still be after you?" He asked and I nodded.
"Yeah, of course they would be," I said and I grabbed the ink and moved my hair to my side and I braided it before using the ink to color over the red tips of my hair.
"Wouldnlt they be able to track you though?" He asked and I nodded.
"Yeah, but they didn't find me at the hideout." I said and I put blue eye contacts in to make my eyes appear purple because of their natural red color.
"Blake," I looked at Twice for a second. "You did make sure they wouldn't find you before, right?" He asked and I glanced at him.
"Normally they don't notice for a while, so if we leave sooner, it's less likely they'd find me," I said and he smiled a bit.
"Let's make it quick then," He said with a smile and I nodded a bit. After a bit, my grandmother knocked on the door.
"Twice, I have an outfit for you to wear," My grandmother said and I looked at the door.
"Alright," He said and he opened the door and my grandmother handed him the clothes before leaving.
"And Blake, don't forget your necklace this time," She said and she held a small box to me.
"Oh, sorry. I thought I brought it with me last time I left here. . ." I said, taking the box and I set it on the desk where I was putting the ink in my hair.
"Necklace?"
"She's had a necklace for a long time that last belonged to me. I gave it to her shortly after Lillie turned five," she said and I stared at the box for a bit.
"Yeah, and if I remeber right, Grandpa had passed at the time as well,"
"Yes. We were in an arranged marriage, but he was my husband nonetheless." She said and I looked at her.
"Arranged marriage?" She nodded.
"Yes. I thought I had told you this long ago," She said and I blinked a couple of times.
"Not really. . ." I said and Twice stared at me for a moment before looking at my grandmother.
"Anyway, thanks for letting us stay here," Twice said and Grandma smiled.
"No problem, domino," she said and she left the room.
"Go ahead and work on getting set," I said and I left with the necklace box and I put it in my pocket. If I put it on and went outside with it on, I would be under a more likelyhood of being caught.
"Okay, just wait for me, alright?" I nodded.
"I'm definitely not ditching you here," I said simply and I left while he got changed. I got to the kitchen and cooked something for me and Twice to eat before we leave.
"Little bird," I glanced over at my grandmother. "Is everything alright? Is it about what your father did?" She asked and I nodded.
"Yeah, and his damn antics with trying to marry me off to someone I don't even know. . ." I said and she sighed.
"You're lucky to have been born with the stubborness of your uncle," She said and I looked at her.
"Uncle Varek?"
"He was quite stubborn growing up, just like you," She said and she began helping me cook. "When he met your aunt, your grandfather didn't like the idea and tried to keep the two from getting married for such a silly reason of loving her." I stared at the grounf.
"And. . .what about you? Were you against it?"
"No, sweetheart, I was all for it, actually." She said and she chuckled. "In fact, I think the domino upstairs likes you, don't you think?"
"Grandma. . . don't start on that please. . ." I muttered, covering my face with a hand as I felt my face heat up a bit.
"Only when you decide to find someone you can love, Blake," She said and I glanced up ay her.
"I know you had a long history in being a villain, but it shouldn't mean you have rush conclusions like that,"
"She had a villain history?" I looked to see Twice had the outfit that my grandmother gave him. Only. . .he didn't wear his mask. . .? The memory of what happened when he first went without his mask around me came into my mind and I began to worry a bit, but I'm pretty sure it didn't show.
"Yeah, she was called Night Flame." I explained and Twice seemed to sweat a bit.
"S-Seriously?!" He exclaimed and Grandma chuckled a bit.
"Yes, very much so." She said with a smile.
I chuckled a bit as Twice's jaw was nearly touching the ground, if I took the exaggerated way of saying how he looked. "You never told me your grandmother was Night Flame, Blake,"
"You never asked about my grandparents, so I never told you about them in detail,"
"Calm down, little bird," Grandma asked and I looked at her for a moment. "Anyway, I was the Night Flame, but I decided to resign after a long time. In order to do that and get the heroes to leave me be, I faked my own death," She said and Twice's eyes widened for a moment before he became thoughtful.
"Well, they did say that Nana Shimura killed you a long time ago. . ." I looked at him before nodding.
"Yeah."
"She had a Quirk that was stronger than my own, and I had finally met my match that day. It is why Blake cannot go against All Might like her parents want her to," She said and I had my arms crossed before glancing away.
"She can't?"
"It's the reason I ran off from my parent's mansion with Lillie in the first place." I said simply and he became curious.
"What did she do, exactly?"
"You remember how All Might's quirk works in some aspects?" I went to the kitchen for a moment and I noticed Twice nod at her.
"Yeah?"
"If he summons a rain storm while she's in her pheonix form, she could be weakened quite a bit if she can't leave the area," She said and Twice's eyes widened.
"Seriously? Rain has that effect on her?"
"Any water source does, if she's in her pheonix form. Her parents have tried for years to get her higher tolerance against water, but it was no use in the end,"
"I don't exactly get how water can make her weaker as a pheonix," He said and I sighed.
"Pheonix is a term for 'fire bird', and they pretty much live off the flames they create from their bodies. If I become a pheonix in a rain storm, the rain starts weakening the fire the pheonix creates." I said simply and Twice raised a brow.
"But you said it was impossible to put out black flames,"
"When they're not on me in any sort of way, it is very difficult to, but it doesn't mean it's impossible." I said and he frowned a bit before rubbing the back of his neck. I could tell he was a bit worried about something and I grabbed something to drink before heading back to the living room. "Anyway, we better go before my mother and father come around here, looking for me."
"Alright, be safe, little bird," Grandma said and I nodded.
"Okay," I then went out the door with Twice and once the door closed, I looked at him. "You sure you're alright to walk around without your mask?" I asked and I was pretty sure I sounded worried, but I didn't care cause I kinda was worried about him.
"I'll be fine if I'm near you, besides, if I do get to the point of nearly splitting, I still have my mask," He said and I sighed.
"Alright, if you're okay with it, then I guess it's fine," I said, though I still felt worried about if he did end up splitting in the middle of town. I personally didn't know what would happen if he ended up splitting, but if he panics about it, then it can't be anything good.
I went with him along the sidewalk deeper into town and I noticed one of the family vehicles on the other side of the road and I looked at one of the shops that were there and I grabbed Twice's hand before I ducked with him inside, catching him a bit offguard.
"Let's go in here,"
"What the- You alright, Blake?" He asked once we were behind closed doors.
"The men outside are people who work with my family." I said, keeping my voice low though so cameras don't pick it up and I walked down the aisles.
"They work for your family?"
"Yes, under the Security Search for when I leave the mansion. I guess that's how my mother found me in the first place." I said and he followed me towards the back of the store, so we could make a quick and silent get away.
"So, how do we plan to get back to the hideout with all of your family's people around the town?" He asked as he peeked around the corner of the building at one of the family vans and I crossed my arms while thinking.
"There's a possibility I could talk to one of the men about getting us a map." I said and he raised a brow.
"You mean go towards the people you're trying to avoid?"
"For some reason, a lot of people are idiots and never suspect someone like that. There should be a van a few alleyways from here."
"If you know that, then why do you need a map?" He asked.
"The specific map that the people with the vans have show the location of where every truck is to be placed without budge with the security men inside it. It's updated only when I run off which is usually made overnight so the trucks would have an easier time early in the morning to get where they're told to stay," I said simply and he blinked a couple of times.
"I guess that's actually pretty smart," Twice said and he had a smile while I blushed a bit.
"Yeah, I kinda get that quite a bit." I said and I saw the van that was parked a few alleys away. "There we go."
