"How are you guys even standing? And why the hell are you both looking so awkward?" Aayush grumbled frustratingly and Dadi too nodded her head in agreement.
"Aayu, why are you standing so far from Izaan. Come on, get closer." Dadi said while gesturing her to get closer to Izaan who looked awkward at another level.
"Badi Ma, just leave these two. And Aayush, help Dadi to the car. She's going home to rest." Anisha called out to her son, coming on the stage where since the very beginning Dadi and Aayush hadn't left the couple of the day alone.
They thought they were being cupids. But in reality, the only thing they were being were a third and a fourth wheel.
"Hey! I am not going anywhere leaving the wedding. Whoever wants to leave can, but I won't." Dadi groaned as she shook her head.
Aayush just shrugged and then began taking selfies with Izaan and Aayrah, forcefully sitting between them and only increasing the level of the awkwardness.
Why wouldn't they be awkward with each other?
Since the whole week their wedding was decided to take place, they hadn't talked with each other. They don't know whether it's the shyness or the weird fact about them getting married when something completely different was set to happen some days ago.
"Izaan, how are you even letting these people torture me? At least say something." Dadi said, breaking Izaan out of the trance.
He was busy gazing at his wife. Mrs Aayrah Izaan Oberoi.
She was looking ethereal in the red bridal outfit. The elegant makeup suited her light beige tone and Izaan wasn't able to remove his gaze from the hoor.
Her long, natural lashes that were coated with a thin layer of mascara were resting happily on her slight chubby cheeks that had a natural blush on them since her young age.
Her hands were adorned with the intricate pattern of mehendi. The color was so dark to be missed. She still remembers how everyone had teased her about the same and how much Izaan must be loving her.
Loving her?
It was painful to even think about.
It was just a marriage of convenience if she analyzes the situation. How he was supposed to marry Reva who had gotten married to another man under some circumstances. And that was the only reason she's sitting as his bride today. Maybe if it wasn't for Reva and Reyhan's marriage, she might've not even got the chance to experience this day. But everything happens for a reason.
"Dadi, Anisha Ma is correct. You need to rest." Izaan responded, making Dadi's eyes go wide.
Aayrah stifled a laugh seeing the level of dramatics of Dadi.
"Just leave them Dadi. And don't you worry, I will video call you the whole time. Come, I will help you to the car." Aayush said while taking Dadi's hand to support her.
"Haye. Ek bas tu hi mera sahara hai mote. Tere bina kya karungi me." Dadi said, pinching his cheeks.
(You're my only support left in this cruel world, fatty. What am I even going to do without you?)
"Kaun mote? Aap mujhe handsome bulaye toh samajh bhi aaye. Ab Izaan bhai ke naam mujh par suit nahi karte dekho." Aayush said teasingly looking at Izaan who just rolled his eyes.
(Fatty? Who fatty? Calling me handsome would be understandable. Now, Izaan bhai's name doesn't really suit me.)
Shaking at their retreating figure Izaan shook his head with a faint smile.
He noticed her hand fiddling on her lap as she had her head lowered down.
His big, comparatively rough hands met her small ones that fitted so perfectly and he intertwined their fingers making her heart skip a beat at his sudden gesture.
"What are you doing?" She shyly whispered.
"Ab kya apni biwi ka haath pakadna gunah hai?" He innocently asked, yet with a smug look making a soft blush appear on her cheeks.
(Is it a crime to hold my wife's hands?)
Biwi.
Guess, she can never get enough of this.
"Congratulations guys." A mere voice was heard making Izaan and Aayrah's head snap towards the source of the voice.
There stood Reva and Reyhan, looking like a perfect couple.
People would think how perfect and good they look together. Reyhan was dressed in a black tuxedo accentuating his muscles while she was dressed in a classy maroon saree. The same color tie was worn by him and no one could ignore this fact as well.
But it was only the two of them who knew the reality.
"Reva...hey." Aayrah breathed out seeing the couple in front of them, congratulating her for the wedding.
This was weird for the four of them would be an understatement. Reyhan and Aayrah hadn't talked even once. She had assumed him to be an arrogant prick and he thought he was apparently too busy to call his new and first fiance.
Izaan and Reva had talked. But it was nowhere like the talks a couple usually has. It was more that they were acquaintances and were talking about a general and not so important topic.
"Congratulations man." Reyhan greeted as he shook his hand with Izaan who reciprocated in the same way.
"Thanks. And...congratulations to you too." Izaan said, glancing at Reyhan and Reva who looked like they could kill each other.
"Aayrah, I am so happy for you. I am sure Izaan will cherish you in the most amazing ways and if being honest, you two seem perfect with each other. You're really lucky." Reva whispered in Aayrah's ears as the two fiends embraced each other in a hug.
"Thank you. And if it's time to be honest, then let me tell you that you and Reyhan look amazing with each other. Maybe it was your fate to get married in such a way, but I guess it won't cost you much to give a chance right? I heard from you mother that both of your families have decided that this marriage will stay intact. Who knows what can happen in future." Aayrah said smiling at the other one who had to force a smile back.
"I guess we'll talk some other time." Reva said looking sideways at Reyhan who seemed as if she was impatiently waiting for her.
This man had always been inpatient, she thought. He always prefers doing things in the least amount of time that she sometimes found impossible to be done.
"I guess you were having great time with your ex fiance that you didn't have any intention to come back." Reyhan gritted as the two walked towards the table they were previously seated on.
It was in the farthest and cornermost where no one else preferred to sit hence leaving only the two.
"Oh, I am sorry to burst that bubble of yours but instead of what you said, I was having a great time with your ex fiance." Reva shot back, looking at him with the same level of mirth.
"She was not my fiance by choice! Nothing was decided by me." He hissed, grabbing her wrist in a tight grip.
"Then nothing was decided by me as well." She too said with the same look, freeing her wrist from his grasp by digging her nails in his forearm.
"I'll cut these nails of yours. Just let this party get over." He muttered harshly, running a hand through his jet black hair that was slicked back with gel.
"Why didn't you tell our families about the divorce? Why did you let them make us stay together?" She asked him, almost with difficulty as he was busy clenching and unclenching his fist.
"Why didn't you?" He asked back, choosing not to answer.
"I had no reason." She muttered.
"Then I didn't have one as well! If not you, then there would be any other irritating brat waiting for me to marry her just because my parents have already given their words. I can at least tell you aren't bratty." He gritted out, sipping the whiskey from the glass he'd left earlier on the table.
"Don't drink." She muttered in a low voice.
"Why? You think I'll listen to you? You must be delusional." He shook his head, a low snarl coming out from the back of his throat.
"No. It's because I can't seem to resist myself." She shot back, making him look at her with an unknown look.
And then he gave her a smirk, flashing the glass in front of her teasingly and then took a sip.
"Want some?" He teasingly asked.
"I- I-"
And she retreated her forwarded hand as soon as she noticed some other people looking at the two.
Why can't they just mind their own business?
Letting out a huge sigh, she got up from the chair and walked towards any random direction. Reyhan kept looking at her retreating figure till she got lost in a puddle of people and was no more in sight.
//////////
He was boiling up with anger.
The anger was way visible in his appearance. Jaw and fist clenched as he moved throughout the expanse flawlessly in a fast pace, vein popping out on his neck in the process.
It had been more than an hour since he saw her. Once she had excused herself from him, she didn't return.
He just wanted to go back from the nuisance here. Weddings were never his cup of tea.
And almost 10 minutes had passed that he wasn't able to find her.
"Reyhan almost everyone has already left and rest will also leave soon. You should also go back with Reva." Reva's mother said, smiling a little towards her son in-law.
"Sure." Reyhan politely nodded his head.
Nothing was the two family's fault. Neither was their fault in all of this. He didn't know who to blame or where to take his frustration out. And now that Reva was only increasing it each passing minute, this didn't really help.
And with that he again began looking for her.
In the most secluded place of this whole venue, he could hear someone sniffing loudly. And taking that chance, he walked towards the source of it and found Reva sitting on the pavement, face buried between her thighs that were touching her chest. She was looking no less than a small ball with that saree draped around her. She was crying. Badly.
For a second his eyes turned soft as he called out for her.
"Reva..."
Hearing him call her name, she lifted her head and glanced at him who was looking at her with an emotion she couldn't decipher.
Her face was smudged with the kajal and mascara, tears running down her face.
And then something snapped across him that made him break out of his trance.
"Have you gone completely mad, woman? Do you even have any idea since how long I was searching for you? Just because I said that you don't seem like a brat, that doesn't mean that you'll start acting like one."
"Have any idea about responsibilities? Huh? Behaving like a goddamn queen and here I am looking for you everywhere like a mad person! What do you think of yourself? Who told you that if you'll behave like this, I'll be giving you my attention? Come on tell me, who is it? Or have you yourself got such an idea in this little brain of yours?" He yelled, taking her wrist in a tight grip and jerking her upwards.
This made an impact of her crashing to his chest, him still holding her wrist in an absolute tight grip. Her pretty brown eyes were glistening with fresh tears as they clashed with his grey ones. Those freckles of silver were too beautiful and captivating to be missed.
"Leave me." She said calmly, in a low voice trying to free her wrist from his grip.
"First answer me." He roared, glaring at her threateningly.
"This little brain of mine is the one that makes the presentation for your meetings. This little brain prepares everything perfectly for you every single day in the office. And this pretty little brain is done with you and done with everyone! I just want to be alone!" She yelled, thrashing in his arms and he finally let her free hearing her say these things.
"What happened?" He tried to ask calmly but it was hard for her to feel that because of his angry expression.
"Nothing that concerns you." She shot at him.
"Oh, is it? I guess you're forgetting the fact that you're my wife. So whatever your concern is definitely mine. Are you telling me or do I have to make you say the other way around?" He glared at her threateningly who didn't seem affected.
"I don't want to stay here. Just take me home." She murmured, not meeting his eyes this time.
She just wanted to cry. She wanted to shed some tears from her pretty brown eyes, burying herself under the covers.
Home?
Has she finally considered his house as her home?
All she had been doing since a week of then staying together because of the pressure of their parents is ignoring him completely and cursing her fate. He doesn't know where she spends the night. Though her stuff was in his room only, she never spent some time in there with him.
"Till you won't tell what's the matter, we are not going anywhere." He declared, his voice too stern to be unnoticed.
"Then listen! I don't want to be in a place where all people know is how to gossip. The only thing I've been listening about from 4 hours is about my character and how I have run away from my marriage to Izaan only to marry my so-called boss. Or how I have trapped you as well. There's a limit to which I can bear all of this and respect the elders here and I think I have crossed that." She yelled while jabbing a finger on his chest at every sentence painfully.
The tears hadn't stopped flowing out of her eyes. It felt painful to even talk about. Where is her fault in all of this?
Till date from that incident, she hasn't got any affection from anyone. Not even her family. They were too angry or disappointed by her. Such that they even started blaming her that why did she go for a business trip?
She felt lonely would be an understatement. She too wanted someone to embrace her or assure her that everything will be fine. But who should she expect this from?
"Let's go." Was the only thing he said and she shook her head with a small chuckle.
Why did she even expect him to show affection when he hadn't done that the whole week? Was it only to get disappointed? She couldn't help but to let out a sarcastic laugh at her fate, him and his behaviour.
//////////
"Only cash is allowed. No credit card or anything else. We don't have the time to go to an ATM, now." Aayush declared, keeping his hand on his waist, inflating his chest to the extreme.
"Aeey mujhe to credit card bhi chalega." Dadi said mischievously, appearing out of nowhere.
(I am okay with credit card too)
"Chalo peeche hato saare. Me dekhti hu kaise nahi dega ye paise." Dadi said, emerging in the front from the whole bunch of Izaan's cousin.
(Come on, get back everyone. Let me also see how this man won't give us the money.)
This very time, Aayush decided to act like Izaan's brother who was very keen to empty Izaan's pockets.
All of his cousins were standing in front of the door to his room like guards, not letting him go inside till he won't give them some cash. And only he knows how he was controlling himself from pushing them out of his way and finally meet Aayrah, in his room as his bride waiting for him.
"Dado aap kaha aa rahi ho? Ye to chhota ka nek hai." Aayush grumbled.
(Where are you coming, Dadi? This is only for youngsters.)
"Agar ab Dadi aa gayi hai fir toh apne hisse ke paise bhul hi jao." A distant male cousin of Izaan groaned, making everyone else laugh.
(Forget about all your share of money now that Dadi is here)
"Oye! Chup karo saare. Ek toh me paise dilwa rahi hu aur yaha tumhe dekho." Dadi said shaking her head in disbelief.
(Shut up you all. Here I am taking out the money from him and just look at you guys.)
"Okay, Okay! I am giving. Here." Izaan declared taking out a bundle of notes from his pocket making all of their eyes shining in excitement.
They never expected their kanjoos bhai to give such a big amount.
"Ab hat rahe ho yaha se ya nahi? Ek zor ka chaata laga dunga abhi 1 second ke andar side nahi hue toh." He threatened, easily towering everyone there who quickly scrambled away, not before giving him teasing looks.
(You all are getting away from the door or not? I will give everyone a tight slap if you don't get away the very next second.)
"Mujhe chaata lagayega tu?" Dadi glared at Izaan who gulped down his saliva.
(You will slap me?)
"N-No Dadi. This wasn't for you." Izaan shook his head, letting out a light chuckle.
"I know everything. And listen, if you won't take care of Aayrah, then just see what I will do to you in return. After so many difficulties you both are married because you had made up your mind to not tell anyone about your feelings." Dadi grumbled looking at him with distaste.
"When do you ever do nothing?" He muttered under his breath thinking she hadn't heard anything, but she actually had, now giving him a glare.
"You just wait-" Saying this, she lifted her hand to beat the shit out of him when he dodged her completely, getting inside his bedroom where his hoor must be waiting.
His heart was beating so loudly due to anticipation that he felt it would probably come out of his chest. His eyes roamed throughout his room to find his wife and then they landed on her who was laying down on the bed as if this wasn't her first time in his room.
As always, she had changed herself in the pair of her favourite pajama set and hair left open on the pillow and she was pouting while sleeping soundlessly.
A smile formed on his face seeing the innocent beauty. How couldn't she capture his heart? Her melodious voice, the innocence that isn't hidden from anyone and her amazing behaviour with everyone didn't take him a lot to fall for her.
Instead of wearing an exotic piece of clothing, here she was in a pair of usual clothes that was covering her figure completely and that too didn't leave a chance to flutter his heart.
And this didn't take him long to change into only a pair of sweatpants, and going under the covers just beside her small figure.
He couldn't help but to take this girl in his arms, pulling her to his chest and give her a small kiss on her plump, natural lips that looked so inviting. And she too couldn't help but to snuggle in his warm embrace between her sleep, placing her leg on top of his making him realize she was someone who definitely loved cuddling.
