Chapter 7: Rhea (And More Kisses)

Tysm for 900+ reads :)) Can we reach 1k soon? Also, is Themis Prothemethus's mother or Clymene? I saw that it was Themis, but Homer said Clymene (I got confused). Ichor is an OC.

-----

When Rhea left the throne room, Kronos believed his troubles were finally at an end. Hoping for a few centuries of peace before another Titan's petty issues disturbed him again, he was wrong; Chaos hated him.

The First Titan War.

He remembered when he had to wage war against his children, use the scythe gifted to him by his mother to strike down armies, and cross blades with Zeus. He remembered when his sister Themis and her son, Prothemethus, came before him in the throne room, telling him that they would fight for Zeus instead and not him- the pure rage in him at the time-

It was why Rhea left him.

The next few days were a blur in his anger, but he vaguely remembered the other Titans saying that he had gotten into multiple fights with Rhea, weakening her aura greatly. Something about being the last straw when Kronos killed Ichor, their last child, their daughter.

----

Percy was beginning to have weird dreams. This one was probably the worst. Maybe he shouldn't have fallen asleep on Kronos's side of the bed.

----

(In this dream, gonna be from Kronos's POV, but it's Percy in his dream.)

*dream start*

Kronos woke up at the crack of dawn. Helios had just left his castle and soared into the sky on his sun chariot, or whatever the young titan called it.

His 'chick-mobile.'

He glanced to his right, where a mass of curly brown hair was beginning to swallow the pillow. She groaned in her sleep, and shifted from her side to her back, making her swollen belly strikingly obvious even from under the thick blankets.

Rhea's eyes fluttered before opening to a beautiful hazel colour, and she smiled at Kronos. His hand made its way to her belly, and he gently stroked it, as he thought about what the future held for him, with his children in it.

His children.

He moved in close and kissed Rhea, and he could hear her contented sigh as he pulled away. They rested their foreheads against each other's and enjoyed the peaceful silence of being around the other.

---

"My lord Kronos," Rhea bowed before him, and she raised the bundle of blankets in her hands above her head. "Your firstborn. Your daughter,

"Hestia,"

Kronos felt joy swell in his chest as he gazed proudly at his bundle of joy. Hestia's arms and legs waved in the air and she cooed softly. Her eyes were the warmest shade of brown and she held an aura of power around her.

As Kronos took her in his arms, he realized something. Hestia was no Titan. She was a goddess.

"One day your children will be the ones to destroy you, they will be the reason for your downfall."

Ouranos's words came back to him, the very words that had haunted him, the words that were the reason Kronos hesitated before he went to bed with Rhea.

His happy balloon burst as quickly as it had swelled, and in his scattered emotional state, Kronos's divine form burst into existence without warning.

---

"She was your child," Kronos whispered, tears brimming in his eyes. "Consuming her form? Rhea, I never thought-"

"Hestia was a danger to the throne! You heard Father. Any children of ours are dangers- You want the throne, you will have to keep any children away." Rhea snapped, drawing the curtains of the room close, and stalking back angrily to Kronos's and her bed, where Kronos lay and stared at the ceiling, determined not to let his tears flow.

He cursed softly under his bed before he turned over, away from Rhea, and the world faded away as he fell into the realm of Morpheus.

(dream end)

----

Percy woke up with a start and gasped loudly. He took deep breaths as if waking up from a nightmare. He ran a shaky hand through his hair and covered his face with his hands.

What had he just seen? What was that dream?

A flash of gold before him. A ring on his finger.

He slipped it off his finger and closely inspected it. Thin inscriptions lined it.

Αγαπημένος του Κρόνου

The Beloved of Kronos.

The ring meant only one thing. Kronos had told the Camps.

"I am Kronos, your king, and you will need to fucking deal with the fact that I am engaged to your Hero"

Pushing off the blankets from his legs, Percy threw open the doors of his room, in search of Kronos.

----

"Explain the ring, Kronos!"

Kronos sighed and leaned backward on the wall behind him. "Perseus, the kitchen isn't the best place for-"

"I don't give a shit! Just explain for Chaos's sake!"

Kronos bit his lip, held his scythe with both hands, and stared at his reflection in the blade.

"I asked your mother for her permission before I came to you. To say she was surprised-"

"You went to my mom? Sally Jackson?" Percy cut him off. He had this blazing look in his eyes, and Kronos felt the atmosphere in the room shift.

"Control yourself," Kronos said, sucking in a breath. He fixed his gaze to Percy's.

"Control myself? Kronos, you go to see my mom without me knowing, and you could have done whatever to her and-" Percy waved his hand vaguely and spluttered, unable to explain why he felt so... worried.

What could Kronos have done to his mom? Killed her? Made her swear loyalty to him?

Why did he even need a mortal?

"Percy I haven't done anything to your mother," Kronos whispered, his brows creasing together. "Why would you think that?"

Percy frowned, glaring at the floor as Kronos inched nearer. "I- I don't know. It's just been there since that voice in my head after the dance-"

"It's effect still lingers?"

Percy grunted, and for a second his gaze dropped to Kronos's lips.

But Percy's eyes were still stormy, and thin tendrils of electricity flickered between his fingers.

"Calm down!"Kronos said, his eyes narrowing. You'll cause the entire kitchen to combust soon enough! It'll take days to rebuild, all the magic enchantments, protection charms, and all the food, Percy you won't be able to get pancakes from nowhere!"

"I'm a Titan, it appears before me with a snap of my fingers, have you forgotten?" he snarled, stuffing his hands into his pockets. "It seems your old age is getting to you Kronos, your memories seem to be deterioating,"

"Shut up, I'm not that  old!"

"The only way to shut me up would be to kiss me, you idiot," Percy said, turning gold in the face with every passing moment. All of his pent-up emotions about Kronos doing anything to his mother disappeared, replaced with this want for Kronos.

Percy exhaled slowly when Kronos pushed him against the kitchen wall. He looked at Kronos, who smirked at his golden face.

Kronos leaned in a millimeter and softly kissed Percy. He pulled away for a moment as if teasing Percy, and ran a shaky thumb over his lower lip.

"K-Kronos, I-"

His hands traveled to Percy's back, where he gently skimmed Percy's bare back with his fingers. He could feel Percy shiver slightly under his touch.

And then he leaned in, so casually, and tucked a tuft of Percy's hair behind his ear. He moved nearer to Percy and their waists were a hair's breadth away. Percy's heart was pounding unexplainably fast, and he did not doubt that Kronos could hear it thump in his chest.

Then Kronos kissed him and Percy melted against him. His fingers tangled in Kronos's hair.

But alas, the Fates were never on his side.

"P-Percy? F-Father?" stuttered Poseidon from the doorway of the kitchen, gaping. Hermes stood, leaning against the doorway. "The only person I know gayer than you, Perce, has to be Apollo!"
