The guards were thanked and dismissed by the time Lance regained his bearings. That's when he spotted the three other mer besides Keith staring at him.

"Uh, hi," Lance tried with a smirk.

The female from before swam around him. Her white hair framed her face beautifully, her skin almost as tan and smooth as Lance's. Her turquoise eyes held a light purple/pink-ish tinge to them.

"Why hello, beautiful," Lance smirked. "The name's Lance."

She rolled her eyes and swam around behind him, undoing the seaweed bonds. "Keith what is the meaning of this? You know we always attempt diplomacy first--"

"Yeah, Keith," Lance sneered.

"Hey, I did ask nicely for you to come with me, but you insisted on going to the mainland and telling about me, so technically, I did try diplomacy."

"Yeah, being asked to go to a stranger's home and just realizing mer are real. You're a true diplomat, Keith--"

"I'll show you diplomatic--" Keith snarled. The darker colored merman stuck his arm out and signaled for Keith to stop.

"Sorry about him," the mer apologized, to both Lance and the female. "I am Shiro, and you know Keith. This is Princess Allura of the Voltron tribe, and finally this is Coran, Allura's advisor."

"Lance," he introduced, as he shook hands with Shiro's prosthetic. "So, Allura?" She peeked up at her name.

"Keith said you could explain what an 'Oceania' is and why I'm here?"

"Of course," she smiled. "An Oceania is a being of rare power, who is often deemed a 'Child of the Water'. They have a deep tie to the oceans, and can influence the waters with their emotions."

"You mean like how the waves grew rough whenever I was angry or upset?" Lance demanded.

"Indeed," Allura nodded. "With the Balmera, the Baku, and the Galra, the Oceania is the only one who can save us. You're the only one that can save us, Lance."

"Woah, I love being the hero in demand, but why me? I can't stay, I have friends and family that are probably worried about me on the mainland--"

"I don't think you understand the severity of our situation," Shiro interjected. "Balmera and Baku we can handle. The Galra, however, will spread like a plague. When I was their prisoner, they experimented on us, and I overheard their plans to adapt themselves for terrestrial invasion--"

"Um, can you explain that in English, or Mermanian, or whatever?" Lance pleaded. His head started hurting.

"The Galra are trying to move onto land," Keith growled, his tone dragged out as if Lance was an idiot.

"Whatever," Lance huffed. "This is your problem, not mine; this affects your world, not mine--"

"This affects both our worlds," Allura begged. "The entire world will become a battlefield. Humans will perish, homes destroyed. Families and friends torn apart..." she paused when Lance's eyes widened at this. He cherished his family and friends more than his own life...

"With you, the Oceania, we can truly stop the Galra," Coran persisted. Lance glared at nothing in particular.

Why me?

One of the guards from before burst in, abruptly ending the conversation. "My Princess!"

"Yes? What is it?" Allura asked with worry.

"The neighboring Arus tribe was ransacked by the Galra. An Arusian prison camp is going to swim by along a back path a few ticks from here," the guard offered.

"Perfect," Shiro nodded, dismissing the guard.

"Perfect? Did the Galra experiment on your mind or something?" Lance demanded. Shiro's demeanor darkened slightly.

"Shiro, what I think Lance meant to ask for is a bit more of an explanation into your plan?" Coran interrupted.

"We can go rescue the Arusians. Doing so, we can gain an ally against the Galra, and show Lance the severity of our predicament."

"That's great, Shiro!" Allura agreed. "You and Keith take a few squadrons and Lance. Save the Arusians!"

Shiro and Keith saluted before snatching Lance and swimming off with him once again.
