Chapter 11: Meeting
Katsuki Bakugo
My brother and I were just sitting in his room. Izuku was staring at the clock again, but for a different reason than normal.
"You gonna be okay Deku?" I ask him.
He smiles.
"I'll be fine Katsuki." He says.
I nod my head. Ever since the villain attack he's been fine, no ticking, tocking or any other clock noises.
"I'm glad you're awake, hopefully permanently, but I wasn't expecting you to be such a sly bastard." I tell him jokingly.
Izuku laughs, understanding what I meant.
"Well if I hang around you long enough it's bound to happen." He replies.
I shove his shoulder, and he laughs again, pushing me back. I'd never admit this out loud, but I've missed him. I've missed this. Ever since he was 4 he's been a fearful muttering mess. I'm glad I've got my brother back, even if it's only until the next disaster.
Izuku glances at the clock.
"We should get going if we want to be on time. There's a villain attack in five minutes on the road we normally take." He says.
I sigh, heading for the door.
"Okay then. Why do you have to go to this meeting anyway?"
"So that the teachers can better understand my quirk. After such a large alteration in the future I could see, my timeline is still trying to fix itself. That's the only reason I'm sane right now. I know something's going to happen soon, but I can't remember what." He says.
I scoff "How useful you turned out to be. I'd return you, but I think Auntie Inko likes you anyway."
Izuku laughs, rolling his eyes.
"Why don't you try having every event in your past, present and future crammed into your head all at once. Granted, the past isn't as bad, it's been and done, so my quirk dosent act on it."
I stare at him.
"You just have your entire life in your head? Constantly?"
He nods.
"Once events happen and pass, the strain slowly becomes more bearable. Like once I'd saved Uraraka. I didn't tick for weeks!"
We turn down a road away from the supposed villain attack. A few minutes later, I hear a boom in the distance. Izuku rolls his shoulders, sighing with relief.
"That villain attack has been bothering me all morning.." he muttered.
When we get to UA we meet Aizawa. He takes us up to Nezu's office, following us both inside.
"Midoriya, Bakugo! It is excellent to see you both on time! You should be proud, UA students!" Iida says.
I groan, while Izuku chuckles.
"And you're 20 minutes early, as usual Iida." Izuku tells him.
Aizawa, Nezu and Iida all look surprised.
"Might I inquire as to your mindset Mr Midoriya?" Nezu asked.
Izuku smiled.
"At the moment, I'm completely sane. Give it.. another few hours for my timeline to fix itself, I'll be back to normal." He said.
Nezu leaned forwards in his chair curiously.
"Is that your quirk? You can see the future?" He asked.
Izuku nodded his head.
"To be more specific, it's my entire timeline, every moment of every day crammed in my head at once. I can see a little way into the timelines of those I come into contact with, or those that my actions affect. When a disaster is going to happen, I get even more.. I guess crazy. When the event occurs I become like this. Completely normal. That's because my timeline is in flux, my actions could change the future, meaning there's nothing to cram into my head at the moment." He explained.
Nezu nodded.
"It all makes sense now. I assume you can see what people will do, but the multiple outcomes decided by chance disrupt your power?" Nezu asked.
"Yes. If an outcome is decided by a dice roll then I have a little trouble keeping every possible future in my head. Multiple dice rolls will make me like this. There are so many possible futures that my quirk just shuts itself off. Until my timeline settles, I'm completely normal."
Aizawa sighed.
"So as long as your future is completely unpredictable and highly dangerous then you'll be fine?" He asked.
Izuku grinned. "That's about the gist of it."
Izuku and Katsuki left Nezu's office, leaving the arena the festival was held in. The spectators and investigators were long gone, but there were a few people still waiting.
Specifically Uraraka and Tsu.
Izuku raised his hand, waving.
"Hi Uraraka, Tsu, what are you guys doing here?" He asked.
They both just stared.
Katsuki chuckled.
"Don't get used to it, he goes back to normal in a few hours." He told them.
Tsu was the first to speak.
"Are you both okay? We both saw what was happening below, but we weren't sure what to do. Ribbit."
Izuku smiled.
"That's alright Tsu, I knew Hagakure would come and save Tokoyami, so I wasn't too worried. Shigaraki damn near got us with those dice though."
The girls looked at him, confusion on their faces.
Katsuki waved his hand.
"Don't worry about it." He said.
Katsuki and Izuku walked with the girls until they needed to part ways to get home. Izuku was getting fidgety too.
"See you both tomorrow. Ribbit." Tsu said, hopping away.
The trio waved, walking further down the street.
"I never got to properly thank you for what happened at the entrance exams. So thank you Midoriya." Uraraka told him.
Izuku smiled.
"That's alright, I did what any hero in training would have done. Besides, that moment had been in my head for years, I was determined to save you no matter what."
Katsuki huffed.
"You would have done it anyway, entrance exam or no." He said.
Izuku laughed.
"I guess you're right. Anyway, this is where I leave you guys. I guess our times up, huh? Tick tock tomorrow!" He said, heading down a side street.
"He's going back already huh.." Uraraka muttered.
Katsuki sighed, walking along to the next street.
"He'll be back to un normal again tomorrow morning. I'll see you then." He said, heading home.
