Chapter 11

AHHHH SORRY IT'S LATE I NEARLY FORGOT I WAS BUSY ALL DAY DX

This is gonna be a short one, sorry about that!

(Y/N) had to try and find a way to get Toby back to the cemetery. She came up with the simple idea of being his crutch, if he leant on her it would work. So, with some help from the rather silent male, the girl hoisted him to his feet and wrapped his arm over her shoulders. He didn't communicate much, only ticking and twitching.

It was extremely awkward, but the girl was sure that he had his reasons. Once he was leaning on her securely, they started slowly limping back to the cemetery; (Y/N) praying that her mother didn't really mean what she said about leaving her behind.

The silence was almost deafening, the sound of three feet crushing grass and leaves, one of Toby's hatchets was digging into the girl's side slightly.

"Heh, to think you were taken down by a tree root with these things on you..." (Y/N) joked, giving a smile.

Toby turned his head, only giving her a blank look through his goggles. His stare was so emotionless that the girl's smile disappeared, and she fell back into an awkward silence. Turning away, she focused on where they stepped.

"Never mind... It was just a joke." She sighed, "Just keep your leg off the ground."

He nodded, and together the two finally made their way back to the graveyard. Only to find that her mother and brother were no longer there. The car wasn't in the parking lot either. They really had left (Y/N) there. She looked around, completely bewildered that her mother would even go through with her promise.

She lives on the other side of town, how was she meant to get an injured and slightly heavy male across the other side of town?!

"Wow, I can't believe she did that." The girl said, "She really did leave me here. How the hell am I meant to get home?"

Toby lifted his head, looking around, "I-I know the way-ayy to your-r house... From he-ere..."

"Really?" (Y/N) gave him a look, "And why's that?"

Ignoring the questions, Toby kept stuttering, "I-It's.. Not fa-ar from herrre... We c-can walk th-there. I-I know a shorrrt cut-t. G-Go that wayyy..."

(Y/N) looked at him, seeing where he was pointing, before nodding and starting the journey ahead of them. A third of the way home, Toby started to feel heavy against (Y/N)'s body. She wanted to ask him to maybe take more weight off her but didn't want him to put any pressure on his injured foot. Plus, he was hardly talking anyway, talking seemed like a useless idea.

Either way, they finally managed to get home. The brand-new car wasn't in the driveway, so (Y/N) figured her brother and mother weren't home yet. If anything, the girl hoped they were getting dinner or something. But she was grateful they weren't here, it meant sneaking Toby into her room would but much easier. Especially considering her mother wouldn't like her bringing an injured stranger, let alone an injured man into the house after their father's death.

Finally, after what felt like forever, (Y/N) managed to get the stranger into her room, laying him down on her bed. Once he was comfy, she stood and stretched, her back was aching something fierce.

"I'll sleep on the floor until you're better." She said, taking a seat at her desk.

"Wh-Why didn't-t you juuust take me to th-the hos-hos-hospital?" Toby asked, tilting his head and propping himself up on an elbow, "Tha-at would have b-b-beeeen easier, and I'd actualllly have prof-fessional help."

The girl smiled, closing an eye and tapping her nose, "I didn't think you'd want to go, considering you're classed as missing, right?"

Toby stared at her through the orange goggles, blinking once, maybe twice. She could see the wheels turning in his head. She had a point, and she knew his status in the media. She could read on his face that he understood her knowledge of him, and that confirmed to her that he has, in fact, been spying on her.

"Y-You know..." Toby mumbled, setting her suspicions in stone, "It m-might actually ha-ave been a goood th-thing... You doing th-the research..."

"Oh, you think so now huh?" (Y/N) gave a cheeky smirk, and Toby couldn't help but chuckle lightly, nodding his head.

He watched her for a moment, a strange feeling of discomfort settling in his chest. How much did she know? She wasn't aware of his numbness, but knows he's classed as missing, hasn't been bothered by his stuttering and ticking, and she clearly respects his wishes of staying invisible to the world.

-That is a good thought- Slenderman popped into his mind, -However she is still a liability, as much as I don't want her to be. Watch her while you stay here, if she gives any signs of releasing your whereabouts, you are to kill her immediately-

Toby shook his head, surprised by the words coming from Slenderman's mouth. He thought his boss would have Toby sent home as soon as (Y/N) got over her fascination, got over her want of proving us real.

"S-So..." He stammered, "Wh-Why the int-t-tressst in Slenderm-man...?" He asked next, rubbing his ehad.

The girl only shrugged, leaning on the back of her chair. She raised a brow at Toby, leaning her arm over the back of the chair as well,

"Why should I answer your questions if you don't answer mine? Besides, you haven't even given me your name yet."

"I-I assssumed you... Alre-ready knew it."

"Oh I do, but you gotta at least introduce yourself, it's common courtesy."

He blinked at her again, before muttering, "I-It's... T-Toby..."

(Y/N) smiled, before saying, "I know. Mine's (Y/N), (Y/N) (L/N)."
