Descendants Of The Sun
「 ─────────────── 」
Descendants of the Sun tells the story of a special forces captain (Song Joong Ki) and a doctor (Song Hye Kyo) who fall in love while providing aid in a country dealing with a natural disaster and civil strife.
Descendants of the Sun was a highly anticipated drama for 2016. We have a star couple in Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo. And everyone was eagerly awaiting the drama since it was Song Joong Ki’s come back project after being discharged from the military. The drama boasted an enormous budget, gorgeous cinematography, and high quality special effects.
And Descendants of the Sun burst onto the scene and took the drama world by storm. With amazing ratings and global popularity, the drama lived up to the anticipation and definitely left it’s mark.

The Heirs
「 ──────── 」
Heirs tells the story of Kim Tan (Lee Min Ho) who is the rich heir to the Empire Group. While attending school in the United States, Tan meets Go Eun Sang (Park Shin Hye) who came to the states to live with her sister in hopes of a better life. But when things go badly with her sister, Eun Sang ends up stranded with no where to go and is taken in by Tan. But neither of them are aware that Eun Sang’s mother is a housekeeper in Tan’s home in Korea.
My first recommendation when it comes to Heirs is to just embrace it for what it is. It’s teen angst and melodrama delivered in a fun package. I was pretty concerned going into this drama. I knew it was insanely popular in 2013, but it seems like a lot of the blogosphere really disliked it. But I was hopeful! And I actually really enjoyed Heirs!
I happened to really like the first few episodes which were set in the United States. Okay, there are a lot of scenes with terrible American acting, but I thought it was hilarious. Lots of American stereotypes too. You just kind of have to go with it. And I must say the scene where Tan first meets Eun Sang is quite intense. He basically witnesses her at such a low moment in her life. You can see his heart breaks for her. I can’t recall a meeting quite like it.

True Beauty
「 ──────── 」
True Beauty is a romantic comedy about a high school girl Lim Ju Gyeong, who rises to pretty girl fame after she masters the art of make-up from YouTube. She turns into a goddess because of her makeup skills, but would rather die than reveal her bare face to anyone. It tells her love story with the only boy that saw her without makeup, Lee Su Ho. Lee is an attractive and handsome boy who appears cold because of his dark past but is actually very caring. They grow when they meet each other sharing their secrets and finding love with each other, but can Su Ho make Ju Gyeong find her true beauty? Then comes in Han Seojun, the cold boy from the high school who suddenly starts to fall for Ju Gyeong after she had mistakenly taken his bike helmet after she bumped into him while Seojun was running from a group of boys. I really love this k-drama and is 100% worth watching.

Hospital Playlist
「 ─────────── 」
This K-drama centers on five friends who are all experts in their fields and somehow land jobs at the same hospital. The series does a fine job of balancing arcs about their friendship, while also focusing on societal issues. For instance, one indigent parent contemplates suicide when he realizes that there are programs that will pay for his children’s medical care if they are orphans, but not if he is alive. This kdrama is loved by many and is enjoyed thoroughly for the balance of serious-ness and the crackhead energy.

Hi Bye, Mama!
「 ───────── 」
If you had the chance to come back from the dead and reclaim life as you knew it, would you? There’s a catch. In order to do so, you have to disrupt the lives of your loved ones, who have already moved on. Kim Tae-hee stars as the love of Lee Kyu-hyung’s life. After her death, he’s shattered to the point that he can’t function as a surgeon or show his new wife the love she deserves. The plot moves along slowly to a fullfiling ending which left all the watchers happy.

Goblin
「 ─────── 」
Goblin is a fantasy romance about a modern day goblin (Gong Yoo) who seeks to end his cursed immortal life and needs a human bride (Kim Go Eun) to do so. His life then becomes intertwined with a grim reaper (Lee Dong Wook) who is unable to remember his past. But when the goblin finally finds his bride, he suddenly realizes he wants to live and be with her.
Goblin is an epic tale with a story that spans centuries. It was quite an interesting ride filled with some amazing characters, talented actors, and a fresh and unique story woven beautifully throughout each episode.
I really love seeing a kdrama with such a heavy fantasy concept. It creates a full mythology surrounding the characters and how certain things work. That makes discovering this world and its secrets very interesting.
Visually, Goblin is absolutely stunning. And so much detail went into setting up the shots and individual scenes. It was all done very artistically. The drama also filmed several scenes in Canada that featured some breathtaking scenery.
