October 17, 2017
This day JYP released the first episode of a new survival show called Stray Kids. Below is a summarization of each episode so...

!! spoilers ahead !!

Episode one
JYP gave 2 groups the chance to debut through a annual showcase, a female group called 2 team and a male group called Male Project Team (aka Stray Kids). At the end of the show JYP choose the male team due to their teamwork and this is where we first meet all of Stray Kids!

Episode two
The first mission was revealed which was having the 9 members compose, write and choreograph an original song. On evaluation day the group announced their group name Stray Kids and performed their song Hellevator. JYP praises the song lyrics and melody after the performance, but some members didn’t meet his expectations.

Episode three
The next mission evaluation was a 3:3:3 challenge meaning splitting the 9 members into 3 teams of 3 where each team is suppose to compose, write and choreograph another song. The teams were Minho, Felix and Changbin, Hyunjin, Seungmin and Chan and lastly Jeongin, Woojin and Jisung. They also filmed the Hellevator music video this episode.

Episode four
On evaluation day Minho’s team performed a song titled Glow, Hyunjin’s team performed a song titled 4419 and Jeongin’s team performed a song titled School Life. There were many compliments and critics to each of the members and in the end Minho sadly got eliminated.

Episode five
The 8 members got the day off and were able to take a mini staycation and have some fun!

Episode six
The third mission was JYP vs. YG which is an annual showdown between the 2 agencies. They were supposed to prepare three songs: something to show vocals, something to show dance and the last was freestyling. Jisung and Changbin performed 3racha’s Matryoshka for their freestyle.

Episode seven
Chan, Woojin and Jisung performed BlackPink’s As If Its Your Last for vocals. Then all 8 performed an amazing dance!

A few days later, JYP announced the next mission which was a busking event. So the members went out and did some research.

Episode eight
At their busking event Stray Kids performed Hellevator, School Life and a new song YAYAYA. Also 2pm’s Jun.K, Black Eyed Pilseung’s Rado, GOT7’s BamBam and Yugyeom and DAY6’s YoungK and Sungjin were invited as mystery listeners. JYP’s critics were very harsh this episode and at the end Felix was eliminated.

Episode nine
For the final mission, it was announced that there would be a live broadcast and live audience voting. They prepared a lot for this performance since they had to re-organize parts for 7 members but they got some help from 3 GOT7 members. They also recorded a new song called Young Wings. Then secretly, JYP gave Minho and Felix another chance to debut in the group. Lastly they revealed that the live voting would be deciding whether a 7 or a 9 member group should debut.

Episode ten
December 19, the live broadcast went on air. YAYAYA and Young Wings were performed as 7 members then Hellevator, School Life and another new song Grrr 총량의 법칙 was performed as 9. The live vote ended with 96% wanting 9 members and with that JYP made the final decision that Stray Kids would debut as 9!

❝ A robot has no mistakes, but a robot and human are different. When I see a nine-member stage, I still see lacking parts in both of you. But when all nine perform, the expressions are alive. Congratulations, you will debut as nine. ❞ (JYP)

September 8, 2020
On Tuesday, September 8, 2020, the owner of his Twitter account @ a1b3c4s9 shared his heartbreaking story. She confessed to being sexually abused by a man who is said to be a Kpop idol. “I was once harassed by an idol loved by fans.”
Many fans were hurt by it and many reacted by saying, “I'm glad he left stray kids. We don’t want our boys’ reputation to go downhill.”
There is currently no information of him being proved guilty or not.

September 14, 2020
In August, Stray Kids announced their second and last Korean comeback in 2020: IN LIFE, their first album repackage. The album had eight new songs, including three subunits that had been performed during their concerts.
From the start, it was evident how much growth they had gone through, with the trailer reaching almost 2M views in only 24 hours, as opposed to the trailer for GO LIVE which at the time had around the same amount of views, three months after its release. IN LIFE sold over 233,000 copies in the first week of its release, almost doubling GO LIVE’s first week sales. The repackage not only became Stray Kids’ second album to go Platinum, but it also became their best selling album yet.
And once again, the title track, ‘Back Door’, was a big part of their success.

After the end of the ‘Back Door’ era, Stray Kids had their first online concert. Even though they performed in several online shows, such as the first KCon, and held showcases online on the day of each album’s release, this was their first proper online concert. The set-list resembled the one for their world tour, but it included newer songs such as ‘Blueprint’ and ‘Ex.’ They also revealed the Korean version of ‘ALL IN’ and they performed for the first time ever ‘TA.’

Overall, the concert was just the result of all their hard work during 2020. And with their energy and talent, they made one of the most memorable online shows of the year.
During 2020, Stray Kids became even more known in Korea and gained the general public’s attention. But that doesn’t mean they didn’t have success in the west as well!

In 2020, Stray Kids received their first-ever western award, winning Best Korean Act at the EMAs. ‘Back Door’ also made it on several year-end rankings of songs by magazines such as Paper (at number 2) and Dazed (at number 5). But what’s even more memorable is the Time listing ‘Back Door’ at number 8 in the 10 Best Songs of 2020, making Stray Kids the first-ever K-pop boy group to be included in the list. Time also listed IN LIFE as one of the albums that defined Kpop this year, and we couldn’t agree more.

After this insane year, there’s no use denying that Stray Kids is clearly one of the leaders of the 4th generation of Kpop.
This year, they became the fourth most followed Kpop group on Instagram with over 10M followers and the second boy group to get to 10M followers. They were the fourth most listened to Kpop group and second boy group in 2020 with over 990M streams. ‘God’s Menu’ and ‘Back Door’ were also the most streamed songs by a 4th gen boy group in 2020. Stray Kids are also the best selling 4th gen boy group in 2020 in Gaon, being 5th on 2020 Top Album Sales for Male Artists and 9th overall with over 960,000 albums sold.

And coming back to YouTube, ‘God’s Menu’ is not only the most viewed music video by a 4th gen boy group, but it was also the fastest to get to 100M. The second fastest music video to reach 100M by a 4th gen boy group is none other than ‘Back Door,’ making them the first 4th gen boy group to have multiple music videos over 100M. This year, they also reached this milestone with their 2019 release, ‘MIROH.’
In other words, the numbers don’t lie.
Stray Kids have had an immense impact, and they’re clearly one of the leaders of the fourth generation!
