58.
Taehyung's POV
A week after Jungkook's death.
We stood on the ship's deck, Jungkook's body lying on a wooden board as one by one, we went over to his body to say our goodbyes.
I was last to say my goodbyes as I wandered towards Jungkook's body for the last time.
His handsome lifeless body lay there decomposing, only dreams of his body just waking up and moving were reoccurring in my brain.
I wished his dreamy brown orbs would open in search of me.
But there were no chances.
I sat down on the floor beside him, like many of the crew did when they said their goodbyes.
I sighed, taking a deep breath to mentally prepare myself for this moment.
"I know you are gone," I said to myself, hoping Jungkook could somehow be listening.
"But thank you for freeing me, changing my perception and allowing me to live a life that was mine to decide." I continued.
"Of course I originally planned on you being with me too, but your death has opened my eyes to see the reality of my life back home." I hummed.
"I am unsure whether I shall return to South Korea or not, but for sure I will keep my word by taking care of your crew and keeping them free." I went on.
A tear trickled down my cheek as I looked at Jungkook's face now.
"I'd imagine you'd be stoked, happier than anything if you could see me now. I will admit that I don't know how to be a pirate captain, but I also don't think you knew what you were doing most of the time. So take it as I am following after my demonstration." I explained.
"I do not want to become you though, or replace you. I am and will always merely be a stand in while you are no longer with us." I cooed.
"Oh, and I also am borrowing ye clothes. Hope ye don't mind. Ye have some nice clothes. I wish I could see them on ye not me though." I mentioned.
"Ye boxers are a bit big for me though, I guess one of our lengths do not match." I snickered quietly under my breath, knowing I was the same height as him, but Jungkook was bigger in one other way.
"I love you Jungkook-ah. You will be alive in all of my dreams."
I raised my thin hand, wiping the tear off my cheek.
I looked down at my chest, the red pendent Jungkook gave me hanging around my neck.
I pouted looking at it, my hands making their way to the back of my neck where the clasp was.
Once I pulled the jewellery off my neck, I wrapped it around Jungkook's.
"I know you gave this to me as a gift, but your first gift to me was your boots and I will never get rid of them because you did it without me even asking, just purely out of the kindness of your heart. But I want to give this necklace to you, so a piece of me is still with you." I said quietly to myself while fixing the clasp, resting the jewel in the centre of his chest.
I then stood up, walking around his body to stand by the end of the board.
I looked around at his crew who all just looked down at his body.
"I wish I could keep you forever, but it is time to send you home." I said loud enough that the crew heard, my pirate boot pressing against the wooden board to roll it off the ship as the crew lined it with beer bottles because apparently Jungkook loved to get drunk while he was their crew and captain.
Dawon opened the gate which normally makes people walk the plank of the ship, only the board was not out which allowed for Jungkook's body to roll off the edge of the ship with the board.
The crew and I stood in a minute of silence, only the sound of crashing waves below the ship could be heard.
Or maybe it was just the welcoming sound of Jungkook knocking on his door as he was now home.
I picked up a glass shot of whiskey that I put on a barrel before the ceremony.
Swallowing the content down in one gulp.
"SET SAIL FOR MALAYSIA, EVERYONE TOO THE ROWING ROOM!" I ordered, running up to the steering wheel.
"AYE AYE CAPTAIN!"
It's time to master the next step that Jungkook sadly couldn't do with me onboard, to stay hidden.
Jungkook's POV
Present time.
I took time off work today to clean my clothes.
They've been soaking all night but I am now washing them just outside my house on a washboard.
My muscles were just in view underneath my blouse, a red pendant swinging back and forth around my neck as my body moved.
I always take the red pendant with me when I leave my store.
I do not want to lose the necklace overnight through being robbed.
The necklace is too important.
It is only for display in case Taehyung comes along and sees it, otherwise it is mine.
It's been two months since I met up with Jimin.
We have not made contact since, possibly because Taehyung is just completely off everyone's radar.
I fell back off my chair, startled by a loud bang sound.
My heart pace was exhilarating as I stumbled to my feet.
I rushed inside my house, hearing my name being called by the old lady who took me in.
"Jungkook! Jungkook? What was that Jungkook?" I heard her faint voice call as I walked towards her voice.
"Eunbi?" I called out before another loud bang went off.
I cursed under my breath as I dashed throughout the house looking for the old women.
It must be a terrorist attack.
There have been a couple in other parts of Korea the last couple of days, only I didn't expect to be a victim of it.
I thought no terrorists could get this close to the castle without the military's interference.
I found the old woman, her hands placed over her ears as she stood in her bedroom, having just made her bed.
"Eunbi, come, we need to hide." I explained, grabbing her wrist.
Her body slowly followed after mine as I made my way to the garage just outside our house.
I opened a trap door and I went down the ladder before her, letting her shut the door.
"Terrorist attack?" The old woman asked me, looking startled with my response.
I nodded, "I think, in case it is, we are most safe here."
I grabbed a match off of the desk, striking it against the box to create a flame.
I then wandered towards a lantern that hung on the wall.
Almost dropping the match hearing another loud bang sound.
I looked back over at the elderly woman who rested her back on the wall, standing near the trap door.
"Eunbi, you should take some rest hm? I am not sure how long we'll need to be down here and you will get bored while awake." I said walking over to her, grabbing her arm to guide her to the bed in the centre of the room.
There was only one bed as obviously this was Eunbi and her husband's shelter originally, but I have slept on rough seas, falling out of my bed in the past so I wouldn't mind sleeping on the floor.
Especially when I was one of the crew and not the captain.
She slept, the lightest snore came from her stirring body as I sat at a desk, the lantern now sitting on the desk beside me.
My hand steadily held a pencil as I drew the only person who means everything to me on a piece of random paper.
I got lost staring at the appearance of the man in the drawing, not even noticing Eunbi awake from her slumber until I felt her hand on my shoulder.
"The King." I heard her faint voice say as she took a seat opposite me at the desk, letting go of my shoulder.
"Did you know him, Jungkook?" The woman asked, now resting in the chair.
I nodded and kept quiet as my eyes didn't shift from the drawing I drew of Taehyung.
How bad I dream of seeing him again.
I could imagine he's changed somewhat from being at sea and around pirates for almost a year.
Tomorrow would be his 26th birthday so it does make sense why terror attacks are increasing a year after the king's disappearance.
"Work for him?" She asked me.
I shook my head looking up at the old woman, her grey hair falling in front of her eyes.
"He visited me for a period of time." I told her.
"I bet he was as lovely as they say he is." Eunbi commented.
"He's more lovely than you'd even imagine." I cooed as I rested back in the chair, letting go of the pencil.
Come back to me Taehyung, I know my drawings of you are not enough to heal the hole in my heart that is piercing from your distance. Save my breaking heart before it becomes the only feeling my heart will ever feel again...
Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns? Was it a terrorist attack? Or could it be something else?
