Taehyung's POV
Leaving the execution hall made me feel sick.
Jin confessed his apologies but part of me believes if he gave a shit, he would've been more compassionate earlier.
Can I live with seeing Jin's face everyday?
Can he live with seeing my face everyday now that he apparently feels guilty?
Riding towards the doc felt like pure freedom.
I felt stress free as the wind blew through my blonde locks of hair.
The sea breeze was a comforting reminder of life back on Jungkook's boat a week or so ago.
It was calming as it made me remember standing on the deck of Jungkook's ship after midnight, just holding Jungkook closer to me.
Durk (with Jungkook) and I got off our horses , leaving them by the wharf as we wandered down it towards Jungkook's ship which is now mine anyways.
Stepping onto the deck where Durk put down Jungkook's body felt unsteady.
I need Jungkook to be here. I mean he's here but he needs to have a live presence onboard.
I feel as though I don't belong in the palace, but I also don't feel like I belong onboard Jungkook's boat.
I keep wondering what Jungkook would want me to do because I know he's spoken about it being my choice many times.
He's mentioned how the people of South Korea need a ruler like me.
Yet while my father may be a terrible ruler, he is still able to run the country averagely.
So maybe I should be selfish for once and escape to live a new life.
Why not have a life crisis and change my role in society at the age of 25?
I heard Jungkook's crew gasp as they saw Jungkook's body.
He has lost a lot of blood by now that his clothing was drenched.
Taemin dropped in front of Jungkook's body, his hand curiously lifting up his shirt to expose the body that I loved.
"That is definitely a shotgun wound right there." Taemin commented as he put Jungkook's shirt back down.
I know Taemin does not trust me, but if he sees I am not equipped with a shotgun, maybe he can trust me.
I leant my back against the edge of the boat, the boat making me feel on edge with its presence and Jungkook's absence.
"Taehyung, what do we do now? What is the plan?" I heard Dawon ask.
Jungkook's crew looked up at me desperately while I sighed.
"Guys, I don't know if I want to come with you or not." I replied.
"What? Why?" Dawon asked.
"I don't know which is worse, being home with my family who did this to Jungkook, or being here when everything reminds me of Jungkook." I replied.
"You could run away and do something else?" Dawon suggested.
I shook my head.
"I have no interest in something else that I'd rather do. Originally I chose this path because of Jungkook but now he is gone. Maybe I should stick with the life I already know how to do?" I muttered.
"Who's going to lead us? None of us know how to direct properly. We aren't even the best at reading a map." I heard Dawon's partner stammer.
I need to decide before Jungkook's crew gets caught trying to leave, yet I am not sure what to do.
I presumed the answer would pop up from the journey from the castle to docs but it did not.
"Tae!"
My heart softened hearing a voice in the distance.
My head turned to the side as I watched Jimin run down the wharf over to me.
He jumped inside the ship, instantly embracing me in a tight hug.
I hugged him back.
"I thought you had already said your goodbye to me?" I questioned him.
Jimin laughed before replying back, "I had, I just had to see you one last time." Jimin hummed.
"Jimin-ah, I don't think I am going to go." I mumbled.
Jimin's head shot up right to look at me as he frowned.
"Why on earth not?" He gasped.
I chuckled at his dramatic response before my lips saddened.
"Jungkook's dead." I replied.
His eyes widened as I tapped Jimin's shoulder, my hand pointing afterwards to Jungkook who lay on the ground.
"Oh god," Jimin gasped.
"I'm so sorry for you, all of you." Jimin stammered.
"If you stay, don't you have to marry a woman?" Jimin questioned, which made my eyes twitch.
"Oh, I completely forgot about that." I sighed.
I do want to stay in Korea now because of my best friend, but do I want to ruin my life by having to marry a woman and somehow impregnate her?
This is my chance of freedom.
I can have a homosexual accepted life.
One I have always hoped for.
"I'm going then." I said, making my mind up.
The crew cheered and Jimin nodded.
"Then hug me god damn it before you have to leave." Jimin weeped.
I laughed, hugging him again before he stepped back.
"I'll see you again." Jimin said to me.
I smiled and nodded as Jimin climbed out of the ship.
"Yes you will, just hopefully not too soon." I hummed knowing that people would come looking for me again the moment they notice I am gone.
Jimin laughed, giving me a wave.
"Taehyung..." Dawon hummed, waiting for orders.
I looked over at Jungkook's crew, pausing for a moment.
"Durk hoist the sails! Everyone to the rowing room except Dawon! Dawon set sail south! And someone move Jungkook's body to the guest bed's!" I directed.
Jimin clapped his hands from behind me as I began moving to walk to the inside of the ship to go to the rowing room.
They had trust in me, and I've never enjoyed giving orders but this gave me a tingle throughout my entire body.
Possibly because Jungkook is supporting me, even if I can't physically see him right now.
I know he is there to guide me.
I smiled hearing the chant that left the crew's lips.
"AYE AYE CAPTAIN!"
