Chapter 14

I stood there for what felt like years, waiting for Kabuto to come back. My arms were beginning to ach from not a seconds rest of letting them fall to my sides. I could feel my eyes twitch, my stomach growl, and Bás getting restless. I had to keep reminding myself I was doing this to control her and the staff more, despite feeling just as restless as Bás. Or... These might have been her feelings... Or Kine's. Oh, forget it! I don't even know anymore.

Finally, the door opened and Kabuto climbed out with a bottle of green juice inside. I prayed that it was the juice I'd get from the produce aisle. He walked up and looked me over.

"Good." he fiddled with the plastic bottle. "You can drop your arms now."

My arms flopped down hitting my thighs like lead. He shoved the drink in to my chest and, with my metal arms, I lifted them up and grabbed it. Screwing the cap off and taking a big gulp. Unfortunately, I didn't pull a Popeye and I felt worse that a second ago. Kabuto then snatched the drink from me and my arms fell back down.

"Now get in the push up stance!" he ordered.

"Are you nuts!?" I shouted back. "Look at me, my arms are killing me!"

"Now!" he boomed.

Growling under my breath, I got on the ground and lifted my upper body with my arms and my legs with my toes. I could feel my arms wobble as they waited for the next command.

"Good." Kabuto nodded. "Now stay like that until I come back again."

"Now where are you going!?" I yelled as he began to walk back in.

"Sorry, I had a few burritos in there a gallon of prune juice," Kabuto looked back, "now, I have business to attend to with the Great White Round One!" he jumped in and slammed the door behind him.

I twitched angrily. My arms were going to make me collapse again. At this rate, my arms would fall off and then where'd we be? Lost in this hell hole.

The door opened and Savannah climbed out with Luke, Larry, Nick, Amoy, Kay, and Anthony following. I didn't move. I could hear Bás getting even more agitated, but I was a lot more afraid of Kabuto than her. At least she needed me to do stuff.

"What are you doing?" Savannah asked, crouching down.

"Training..." I grumbled.

"For what?" Anthony asked.

"None of your business!" I snapped, not in the mood for any of this.

"We brought you some water," Amoy handed Savannah a bottle of water. She took it and put it near me. I was about to sit up and take it, but someone snatched it from Savannah's hand.

I looked up and Kabuto was throwing the bottle up in the air and catching it, looking down on us. "No water!" he tightened his grip on the bottle and it caught fire, disintegrating it to cinder.

"You can't expect her to just-!" Nick started.

"Quiet!" Kabuto snapped at him. "You don't want that bitch in the staff to resurface every time your friend here loses control do you!?"

All of them shared a look before looking back down at me, concern in their looks.

"What? What happened?" I asked.

"When you blacked out earlier," Larry spoke, "you were... A completely different person... You were that... That... Bás Bringer girl... Except..."

"Except..." I pressed.

"Your hair changed and your eyes were a glowing red!" Luke exclaimed. "You had red horns, a tail, wings, and a..... Um..."

"A halo." Savannah finished.

"What!?" I dropped my body to the ground before getting up on my feet.

"It's the common form of a Defective Angel," Kabuto spoke, "but they're extremely rare to see. It's said they help bring death to one's door."

"So is Bás a Defective Angel?" I asked.

"It sounded like it... But, the question is... Why is she the only one who shows anyone her true form?" Kabuto thought out loud. "Most Defective Angels disguise themselves as accidents, disease, or a coincidental death."

"Well, that explains my Bás problem, but it doesn't explain my kid dreams!" I snapped. Princess Kine only had one child and he apparently became something completely different from the boys in my dreams.

"What kid dreams?" Kay asked.

I explained to them the dreams I had about the little boys that'd run off and bring me to something.

"Nothing." Kabuto put flatly. "They're just dreams."

My heart dropped sadly at his bluntness. They may have not meant anything to him, but to me they were important to me!

"No more talking about silly dreams," Kabuto ordered, "do twenty laps around the the barrier." he turned away, indicating that he didn't want me to talk about it anymore. With one glare at him, I began jogging around the hidden area.
