after math of faded dreams...
Feeling the sun on her face woke her from troubled sleep. She remembered in dreams all the pain she would not let herself think about. All the pain one elf caused her, the only one to ever have hurt her so greatly.
She rose groggily and moved to the balcony staring at the scared earth of pelennor fields. She had decisions to make and advice to ask for.
She knew it was folly to try to prove to the Elven king that she wasn't a monster. It was futile to try though it was the most secret hope of her heart. It was pointless logically she knew this. Her heart though was not convinced with such logic.
She would ask Gandalf for his advice in this matter. He had ever been her friend and mentor in all things. She dressed in a pale green gown, it seemed that all the gowns provided for her were too decadent for every day attire.
She ignored the elven style circlet; she dislike protraying herself as an elf. She wasn't an elf and never would be. She made no qualms of this matter. She slipped on the slippers and her daggers. Loriel hastily braided her black hair over her shoulder as she walked out the door.
She made her way to the breakfast table where Aragon and some of the fellowship sat eating. She was glad to note that Thranduil was still absent. Legolas was there however sitting serenely by Aragon.
"Ah Loriel how did you sleep?" Gandalf asked smiling in welcome as she sat between him and Aragon.
"I had much to think about. The Elven king stopped by and made an offer to me last night. This is the letter he gave me. I do not know if it is wise or even able to be accomplished to change the mind of such an old and heartless elf." she glanced toward legolas who seemed unperturbed by the comment. Gandalf looked over the proposal carefully.
"I would think you could atleast try to change his mind if it is unsuccessful then you can atleast say you tried. Then move on and forget about the whole matter." Gandalf advised laying the letter before her.
"Gandalf is right it will do no harm if you try. Do you want to put your self near such disregard and insult?" Aragon added quietly.
"It is no matter I have alliance with Rohan and Gondor. Gimli will also have good things to spread of me to the dwarf ranks. If the elves want to be lesser than men and dwarves then who am I to turn them from it. I must think on this matter though and discuss with my people about matters before I make any decision. Have a good day hopefully I will see you all soon." she rose and walked towards the door.
"Lady Loriel I would be honoured to have you as a guest in my home. I think there is much my father can learn and should learn from you. Acceptance is only one small matter" Legolas said to her as she left.
It made her slightly more at ease with whatever decision she made. Her people came first though, befrore any king. She was their leader and they looked to her for guidance.
She found her warriors on the large terrace where Aragon's coronation was held. She was glad she was able to witness such an amazing event. She knew her comrade would be a great king.
They all were sparring here and there; she didn't miss the sight of a certain elf king and a few of his own guards. They watched raptly and commented here and there. Their eyes studied her people with a critical eye that seemed to find much to be desired.
She decided that they could snub their noses at their ettiquette but she would burn in dragon fire before they did so at their battle skills.
'this will be very interesting' she thought somberly as she caught the eye of the king. She moved toward his group; they would know after today that she may run from a fight but she would ultimately win the war.
