Chapter 2
Flashback Starts:
“This is nice.” An female Asgardian uttered to herself as she sat on a stool while watching the blue clear sky above her. With a sigh, she returns to her basin and washing the clothes that are soaked in it.
In the grassy and stony fields of Asgard, a gentle breeze simply glossed over the weeds and blades. Nothing major is happening within this sunny day, as the populace of the realm are doing their normal daily routine, from washing clothes, drinking and celebrating whatever they come up with.
That is until the sounds of thunder happened above the land of Asgard, the sky suddenly turned dark as the booming sound of thunder can be heard across the land, blue lightning dancing in the black clouds, as well as the sounds of punches, kicks and grunts can be heard.
“Seems like they are at it again. Could have just warned us that they are going at it again.” One of the Asgardians uttered as he was walking beside other Asgardians as they saw lightning striking down on the ground from the other side of the area.
“Let’s just hope that those two didn’t accidentally kill another Asgardian, like the last time that it happened.” The other one replied back as they quickened their pace, trying to avoid the upcoming debris that is gonna rain down on Asgard. The lightning and thunder continued as the ground they walked on slightly trembled as many immediately sought shelter from whatever was happening on the other side of Asgard.
Scene changes from warm to dark as two beings of overwhelming power battled out, one is a shorter, skinny older man, sprinting and blitzing in the battlefield, dodging lightning strikes that are coming from above. Another person is a large, muscular person intercepted the opponent’s dodges with wild yet strong and controlled punches, attempting to get a hit on him, but the older man grabbed the punch, almost taking him off the ground but kept his stance and grip firm on the large man, before sending an elbow to the larger man’s belly, making his balance off and gave the giant a heel kick to the diaphragm.
“GAH!!.... Dammit.” A grunt came from a large man’s mouth as he was pushed back to the ground, feeling his body hurting from the attack that he received from his opponent.
“Already on your back? I thought I trained you better than this. You wanna man up and show yourself that you are my son? Then get your sorry ass up and fight.” A commanding voice said to the large man on the floor as he looked up to see his opponent.
“Tch. Stupid old man.” The large man grunted as he stood up and went back on his guard and immediately charged at his opponent.
His large fist swung at the elderly man before him, trying hard to make sure that he used his strength to knock him out as quickly as possible and end the fight, but the opponent before him was not a simple brute fighter to begin with. Using the larger man’s momentum, he casually parries some of the punches that the large man sent to him, and with the last uppercut from him, the older man took his chance to lean back and quickly sweeped the large man’s feet, catching him off balance and used his whole body to push the larger man down to the ground once more.
“I taught you many things and this is the shit that I get from you? Honest to say, I am fucking disappointed.” The older man grunted as he kicked the larger man’s belly, sending him a few feet away from where he was standing. The large man groaned before getting back up on his feet.
“Can you fucking shut up with that shit?” The large man replied as he jumped up in the air, raised both of his fists up and slammed them on the ground. The older man immediately dodged the initial attack, but it was the effects of that attack that caught him off guard.
Both fists landing on the ground caused a loud and powerful shockwave to be emitted. The ground beneath the large man shattered immediately on impact, making the older opponent be sent back, making his back land on the ground harshly and continuing to roll away from the burly man.
Taking this opportunity, the larger man sprinted at him with a sudden burst of speed, catching the older man off guard as he felt a hand clasped onto his entire face, lifted him up and slammed his back onto the ground, forming a crack underneath them both.
“Gah!” He roared as he grabbed the older man’s right arm and shoulder, lifted him over his head and threw him across the fighting area, so far that it made the older man feel like he was flying for a short period of time.
Now the older man having his back landed on the ground and laying there, the larger man took this opportunity to grab a nearby weapon, which is a sword that fits for his size and sprinted towards the old man. He leaped up in the air, sword raised over head with both hands gripping on it and slashed down at the ancient man, but the said man rolled his way out of the attack as the sword slammed on the ground. Upon impact, the ground cracked again, albeit of having a functioning sword, the sword shattered, leaving with only a cracked handle and a swordless tip.
“Bugger. This is the fifth fucking time.” The burly man hissed as he looked at the broken sword and tossed it aside, no longer of any use.
“At this point, son. You really need a better sword or a weapon in general.” The ancient person remarked as he stood up and walked towards him, unannounced of the fight ending, with the burly man only grumbling at the approaching person.
“Or better yet, you need to keep your strength low if you want your weapons to still be intact.” The ancient man continued as the burly man sat up on the broken ground that was their battlefield.
“Even if I keep getting new and more durable ones, I keep losing them.”
“If you weren’t such a dunderhead and looked for them instead of losing them, you would have one.” The older man retorted back at him, leaving the burly person only to look away and grumbled.
“Oh shut up.” He grumbled at the ancient man, but flinched when the ancient man smacked him on the head, making him grit his teeth from that action.
“Better watch your tone, young man. As much as you are gonna win in that fight, I can still hand your ass if I wanted to. Am I understood?”
“......”
“Well?”
“Yes… All-Father.”
“Good…. I wonder if those dwarves could make you one, something more durable and can handle your stupidity of losing them constantly. I heard a pair of them are in need of a client right now.” The old man sighed, pinched the bridge of his nose and said to himself upon trying to find a way to give his son a better weapon.
“Why would I even need one anyway, Faðir? I already have these and these, which are good enough.” He remarked as he looked down at his father, raising both of his fists up and covered them with arcs of blue lighting.
“If those are gone, what are you going to do then? Be defenseless and be helpless? The fuck not, a useless weapon is a no good one, a weapon would give you atleast a chance to use it to fight someone, or better yet, kill them before they could kill you.” He replied back at him, making the burly man just sigh and lower his fists, electricity no longer flowing as he just sat down on the ground as the man beside him still had his lonely eyes gazed on him.
“Listen, son. You may not like this kind of beating, but this is for your own good, OUR own good. OUR home, OUR people. They need a man that needs only his fist and weapon to defend it from these enemies. Thinking is not needed for you as our home already has one. Remember, you are to be Our home’s, Your home’s champion.” He said to his son as he turned his back and walked away, grabbing his spear that was stabbed on the ground and let his son be with himself for a little bit.
“..... Why the fuck is life so fucking hard?” The lone, large man asked himself as he laid on his back and watched as the clouds up in Asgard’s sky slowly moved to the west as the bifrost still glimmering its rainbow colors, appearing in different places. He only sighed as he closed his eyes and let Njorun give him at least a nice dream in his sleep.
Flashback Ends:
Third Person’s POV
“Ugggghhhhh….” A groan escaped the burly demon’s mouth as his expression showed nothing but discomfort. Thor clamped his head, feeling the headache coming back to bite his ass. He sat there in the empty alleyway that he passed out on, still feeling the fatigue from the mental attack / reliving the horrible memories that Hell gave him and the withdrawal effects of the alcohol.
“Should have not gone there to begin with.” Thor relented as he rubs his face, ridding the exhaustion that is still present as his visions are still blurry.
“.... Best that I leave, before I get anymore of those shits going inside of my head.” He sighed in exhaustion and wanting to leave the area as soon as possible, he grumbled as he slowly stood up, tumbling for a bit until he regained his balance.
“...Okay… what the fuck just happened here?” Thor asks the moment his blurry visions became clear. The once dirty alleyway that he fell unconscious to, became a blood bath afterwards. Body parts laying on the ground, dangling from the lamp posts, blood soaking the walls and floor.
Being used to seeing a blood bath before, with the experience of causing one all too many times in his life, this is nothing new to him, but still surprised him nonetheless. Thor stared at the sight before him for a few seconds before he felt his hammer vibrating on the left holster of his side.
“You did this?” Thor asks his hammer as he thumbed the bloody area. The confirmation getting from his hammer is another vibration, along with red lightning arcs dancing around the hammer’s head.
“What the fuck did you?” Thor asks the hammer, with the hammer only vibrating and blinking its red runic glow to Thor, as if retelling him what happened earlier when he is unconscious.
Flashback Starts:
“There goes that guy, that fucker caused a riot up there. The boss better pay us for running around like a pack of hungry rabid bitching dogs.” One of the guards complained as he and the other pub guard besides him started walking back.
“Yeah, though when I see that fucker again, I am gonna…” The other one paused as at his periphery, saw something, or rather, someone that he thought escaped from them. He pulled his buddy and pointed at what he was looking at.
It was Thor, passed out on the alleyway, alone under the flickering lights of the lamppost above him, the same guards that came chasing after him walked forward to him at that spot. Alone, vulnerable and in a pathetic state, they grinned and slowly approached him.
“Well~ To think that you managed to get this far out without being mauled by others, I got to say, you are only lucky~” One guard taunted as he squatted down in front of Thor and gently pats his cheeks before slapping him across the face, unresponsive to the slap, the guard slap him again to see if he could wake up.
“Wakey wakey fucker~ You got a debt to pay~” He slaps Thor across the face again a few more times, no response and no bruise on Thor’s face from those slaps.
“You are a heavy sleeper alright… and a tough one too.” He winced as he shook his hand, feeling numb from slapping Thor, felt like slapping a concrete wall.
“Enough playing around Tony, just check his pockets or some shit. He has to pay up from the mess that he fucked up back at the pub.” The other guard barked as the now revealed Tony rolled his eyes as he searched for whatever pockets that Thor has, that is until his demonic eyes landed on the hammer.
“Well lookie here~ That is gonna be worth a fortune~ Hey Grinch! I got something that is gonna pay us, big time!” He grinned at the sight of the hammer before calling out his guard buddy. Grinch whistled at the sight of the shiny hammer.
“Hell yeah. Hey, get that shit. Maybe we could sell to Carmilla and she would pay us fuck ton of money. We could finally get out of that crappy pub.” Grinch suggested to Tony, with a nod, both of his hands went to the handle of the hammer.
“The fuck?” He uttered as he tried to pull it again, but the results were the same, it didn’t budge for one inch.
“Dude, stop fucking around and get that damn hammer.”
“I am.”
“Looks like you are just playing around. Grab the handle like a fucking dick and just pull.”
“Well, you try helping me out instead. This fucker weights like your mom and she is one big fat bitch.” With a roll of his eyes, both Grinch and Tony held the hammer by the handle and started tugging it, to no avail, it did not move at all.
“Christ on a stick, what the fuck is this made out of.” Grinch asked no one in particular as he and Tony only huffed in exhaustion from trying. As they are catching their breath, the hammer unclips itself from the holster and starts floating in front of the two demons.
“The hell?” Tony asks in disbelief, alongside Grinch as the two of them stare at the sight of Mjolnir levitating, the runes of the head start glowing red as sparks of electricity danced around it. Without having to utter another word from their mouths, Mjolnir launched itself first to Tony, the head of the hammer hitting Tony’s face at full speed, dragging the body until it hit a wall.
“THE SHIT?!” Grinch shouted as he watched his guard buddy being killed like a fly. Tony’s head exploded like a water balloon between the force of Mjolnir landing on him to the wall, leaving a large dent on the wall, blood smeared all over it and Mjolnir embedded on it. The body, still attached by a thin membrane to the now splattered head, fell on the ground as blood started spraying out from the neck stump, staining the wall and the floor.
“FUCK THAT SHIT! I'M OUT!” Grinch shouted as he tried to run away from the psychopathic hammer, not even wanting another second to look back at Thor and his now dead partner.
Tumbling on his feet, he was about to make his third step away from it but it was too late for him. He looked up and saw Mjolnir already above him, the metal head soaked in Tony’s blood, still glowing red and with dancing red electricity.
“WAIT!-” That was his last word before Mjolnir descended down on him, in a swinging motion, the Mjolnir’s head first impacted Grinch’s head, following down to his torso, then his legs and finally to his feet. Like a pancake, Grinch’s body is flattened on the pavement, blood and other organs paint the alleyway as Mjolnir lodged on the body for a few seconds before levitating up again.
Arcs of red electricity sparked, ridding the blood and other giblets on it by burning them to ashes before returning back to Thor’s holster. Leaving the alleyway a bloody mess, all from Mjolnir’s attacks and its protection to its wielder.
Flashback Ends:
“That’s a story that I rarely hear from you, but thanks anyway.” Thor patted Mjolnir on its head, gaining another vibration from the hammer. The Ex-God of Thunder walked out from the alleyway, stepping on the blood mess without a care as he made way to the city.
“Still have no idea what to do here… Nor what that stupid rift wants me to do here.” Thor mutters to himself as he strides across the pavement of the city, keeping his hand on top of Mjolnir.
Having already seen some of the weird appearances of the denizens here, Thor only passed by them, gently trying to not cause a scene like the previous incident that came before him. He kept on walking throughout the city, he glanced at some of the chaotic moments here in hell, like the fact that he passed by a store that is currently being robbed, with objects that are probably expensive, evident from the shouting of the shopkeeper.
“YOU GOTTA PAY FOR THAT SHIT! FUCKER!” The shopkeeper yelled before pulling a shotgun and started firing at the thieves, who kept running with the stolen object in their hands.
Thor passed by another building that was on fire with the demons throwing bottles of molotov at it. Many of them laughed like maniacs as the people inside of the building ran out in fear and some even covered in fire.
“FIRE IN THE HOLE!!!” One of the arsonists shouted before throwing another bottle at the building and laughed it off alongside his arson mates.
“Keep walking, Pal!” Another arsonist pushed Thor along the road that he was walking as the arsonist cheered when another demon screamed out from the burning building.
The Ex-God of Thunder would have done something about this but then again, he is new here, better not cause any attention until he got a better grasp of it as he walked away.
What felt like hours, Thor finally had enough of walking and just sat at the nearby bench. Slumping down on it, he slightly relaxed as he leaned his body on the seat. He then grumbled when he heard the bench start to bend under his weight until it stopped, fortunately it didn’t break, unfortunately it left a shape of his large body on the bench.
“Just my fucking luck…. What the hell am I gonna do now?” Thor grumbled as he looked up at the crimson sky of hell and the pentagram symbol staring down at the Ex-God of Thunder.
“By moving a bit pal? I wanna fucking sit but your fatass took most of it.” A voice made Thor move his gaze away from the sky to the newcomer that is standing next to the bench. The demon stood there with an impatient expression on his face with a huge pair of scissors stabbed on the ground next to him.
“Eh?”
“Move. Your. Fat. Ass. To. The. Left.” The demon newcomer emphasized more thoroughly to Thor, like talking to an infant. Thor glared back at the demon before moving a bit to let him sit, though the new position of his made another dent on the bench, making Thor sigh in annoyance.
“Thank you.” The demon uttered as he sat down next to Thor, he pulled out a cigarette and started smoking it. Thor stared at the demon besides him for a bit before looking up again in the sky, the noise and the lights of the Pentagram city washing over them as two strangers sat on the same bench in silence.
“New here in Hell?” The demon asks Thor, causing the large man to look down at him for a bit before nodding.
“Good the fuck luck surviving in this shithole, then.” A reply that made Thor gripe, his right hand clenching on the arm rest of the bench tightly that it easily crumpled under his strength. Seeing the reaction from Thor, the demon only sighed before saying again.
“Well then, listen up greenhorn, here are a few things that you need to learn if you wanna survive this shithole of an afterlife: Stay away from crazy people. Lay low. Join a gang or some powerful people if you want protection. Be able to defend yourself. Find a place to live that has little bullshits going about. Don’t cause some shits if you wanna have a big target on your back. And most importantly, don’t sell your fucking soul to anyone, especially to Pyscho Overlords.” These words are the most useful thing that Thor has ever heard from someone here in Hell, especially from someone that is pretty much like any demon here, catching the large man off guard for a bit before asking.
“Uhhh… I have some questions about what you said.”
“Better ask me quickly because I got some shits to do before going back home.”
“What do you mean by “Sell my soul”? The fuck does that mean?”
“In a nutshell, so that idiots like you can understand. Selling your soul to someone means that they own you, like they control you on whatever they want you to do. From where you live, what you do for them and what not. Selling your soul is guarantee that you are fucked forever until that owner of your soul releases you from it.”
“And how does that work?”
“It is usually like a contract, where the deal is some magical bullshit with the terms and conditions on what both sides need to do. But it is usually a fucking scam as it favors more of the owner and such. So like I said, don’t sell your soul if you don’t wanna be fucked forever living here.”
“Okay… Then what about those “Overlords” that you said about? Who are they?”
“They are like one of the many top strong people here in Hell. Sinners that have some extremely powerful bullshit on them that got them up in Hell’s hierarchy, in other words, made them up to the food chains. We, the normal sinners, are just like prey for them on some occasions when it fits them.”
“I see… Thanks.”
“Keep what I said to your thick skull and who knows, you might live long enough to see Extermination day.” That last part got Thor curious, making him lean forward, propping his elbows on his knees as he asked again.
“Extermination day?”
“The day that those buggers from above sends comes down to-” Before he could finish his words, the watch that was on his wrist rang, causing him to groan before going for one last puff from his cigarette before exhaling it from his nostrils.
“Looks like the break is over and the start of my shift.”
“But you didn’t finish your-”
“Listen buddy, as much as I like wanting to explain the basic crap of living here to you. I got my shift to do.” The demon stood up and threw the cigarette behind him, landing on the bush and causing it to be lit up to flames.
“Let’s see here…. Fuuuuuccckkkk…. I don’t wanna carry these heavy bitches…” He grumbled as he rubbed his face when he pulled the lists from his pockets and saw the content of it. He looked at the list and back at Thor, seeing the size of the Ex-God of Thunder for a few seconds before a light bulb appeared on top of his head.
“Hey dunderhead, you lift?”
“Um… Yeah. Depends on what you wanna lift?”
“Good enough. Come with me.” He pats Thor’s arms, making him stand up as the demon grabs the huge scissors that belong to him from the ground before placing it behind his back.
“Since you are new here, you have no place to stay, no money, no food and other bullcraps that will even get you to last a day here. So I am gonna give you a place to live in, in exchange you work for me. Got it?” His offer made Thor think for a bit, sensing as this demon doesn’t emit much energy that would classify him as an “Overlord” by what he said, Thor deduced that he might get a work around this one.
“Fine. If it will make me live a little longer here and not make me an idiot like that pub accident that I made back then.” Thor agreed as the demon nodded as he motioned Thor to follow him.
“Now that we made a deal that you work for me and I give you a place to live. This is now your job until I get some other shits that I want you to do. Got that?”
“Yeah. Yeah. I got that.”
“Good. Name’s Glanni. Yours?”
“Thor.”
“Thor….. Thor….. Nope. Doesn’t ring a bell. Anyways. Follow me as I continue to spew out some shits that you wanna ask.” Glanni uttered Thor to follow him as both of them walked towards the direction to where Glanni’s destination is. So far, Thor is finding these few hours of his new life here in Hell not so bad, as long as Thor doesn’t do anything reckless and does what Glanni said to him.
