Chapter 2: The Mutants

I gulped and rubbed my arm nervously. I felt hurt. Loin-O seemed like he didn't want me as his mate. I felt the tears stinging at my eyes.

"Do you not want me?" I asked in a shaky voice.

Lion-O jumped and stared at me. I started crying. Jaga sighed. Lion-O came closer. I back up into a tree.

Lion-O stopped, kneeled down in front of me and placed his hands on my shoulders. I blushed. He smiled gently at me.

"I didn't say that. If that's the way I acted like to you, then I'm sorry. I really am. I don't want you to cry," Lion-O said as he reached up and stroked my hair. I liked it when he did that. It felt good. I smiled at him.

"There. That's the smile I wanted to see," Lion-O said. He continued to stroke my hair trying to comfort me. I was happy he was doing it still. I leaned against him and to my surprise as well as his and Jaga's, I began to purr.

Blushes hard, I looked up into Lion-O's eyes. He gently pulled me onto his lap as he sat down. I snuggled against him. I watched him look around.

"Does he sense something?" I thought. Suddenly, Lion-O got his feet, holding me tightly against his chest. I felt scared. Lion-O's facial expressions told me there was danger near by and he wanted to protect me.

"L-Lion-O? What's happening?" I asked.

"Call the others Lion-O," Jaga said.

Lion-O nodded and took out the sword of Omens. I gasped. I had watched the "Thundercats" cartoon as a child and listened to my mother's stories. But this. This was the real thing.

"No way! That's the sword of Omens!" I squealed.

"Yep," Lion-O said.

That's when I saw what he was staring at. The Mutants, three different races of creatures that worked together to try and steal the sword of Omens along with the Eye of Thundara.

I remembered which one was which from my mother's stories. Ssslith was the scaly lizard Mutant. Jacklemen was the one that looked like a werewolf almost. The last Mutant was Monkien, he looked like a stupid baboon. I hated the Mutants.

Thundara had been the home planet of the Thundercats for centuries. It was destroyed back when Lion-O was a child. It was there, Eye of Thundara was created. The eye was a magic jewel in the hilt of the sword of Omens. It was extremely powerful when used for good. All the Mutants cared about was the Eye of Thundara. The didn't care that the Eye was the giver of hope for the Thundercats.

"Well. What do we have here?" Ssslith asked as he drew closer to me. He reached out to touch my hair. Before I realized what I was doing, I tackled Ssslith to the ground. I began punching him over and over again.

"Heidi!" Lion-O yelled as he pulled my off and away from Ssslith. Jacklemen and Monkien grabbed Ssslith. The three backed away.

"I hate Mutants! Ever last one of you! All you care about is the Eye of Thundara! But you don't care that you're hurting others along the way!" I screamed.

The three Mutants looked down. I pulled away from Lion-O and ran passed them. I didn't want the Mutants, Jaga or Lion-O to see me cry. So I kept on running.

Soon I found my way out of the woods near The Cats Lair, the headquarters of the Thundercats on the planet known as third Earth. I was so tried from all the running I just collapsed to the ground by the front door of The Cats Lair.
