Chapter 1: The cave
"Heidi! Come on!" My big sister, Karly, yelled at me. Karly was 24 years old. I was 19 years old. We were racing through the forest near our house like we used to when we were kids.
"Wait up Karly!" I yelled as I tried to keep up.
"Oh no! I'm not slowing down! You hurry up!" She laughed as she rounded a huge bolder.
I rushed towards the bolder and tripped. I tumbled to the ground. I sighed at my stupidity and stood up.
"Well, this is just wonderful. I most likely lost Karly," I grumbled at myself.
I started back home when I thought I heard my name. I turned to see the old cave I was forbidden to enter. I gasped as I saw a white mist like form of a man.
"Who's there?" I asked.
"Heidi. Come closer," the figure said.
"Not till I know who you are!" I yelled at the mysterious voice.
"There isn't time to explain child. Come. I'm waiting for you. As well as your mate. You have to save our world. Come quickly," the figure said.
"Fine! But you better explain when there is time!" I snapped.
The figure nodded.
I rushed towards the cave. Once inside, I felt like I had been in there before. I couldn't shake the feeling.
"Heidi. The craving on the wall. Touch it," the figure said placing it's hand on my shoulder.
"Okay," I said slowly. I was still unsure about what was happening. With a shaky hand, I did as I was told. The craving was of a door.
In the center of the door was the symbol of the Thundercats. The Thundercats were a race of cat-like people. My mother use to tell me stories about them when I was a kid.
As soon as my hand touched the stone, it began to glow. I watched as the light flooded the cave. I covered my eyes to keep from being blinded.
"You can open your eyes now Heidi," The figure said releasing my shoulder.
I uncovered my eyes and gasped. Outside the cave were different trees from the ones I knew. I rushed outside to get a better look.
"What the hell!" I screamed.
"Who are you!" A voice from behind demanded. I turned around to find a tall, cat-like man standing there. He crossed his arms in front of his chest and stared at me. He seemed rather annoyed.
"Ah Lion-O. There you are," The figure said.
"Jaga?!" The cat-like man yelled in shock.
I turned towards where the one called Lion-O was staring. There stood the figure. Only this time he was much more clearly defined. He was a ghost of another cat-like man. The ghost smiled and walked towards me. Once in front of me, the ghost bowed.
"Um... Are you the one who brought me here?" I asked.
"Yes I am. My name is Jaga, and I am Lion-O's father," He replied with a smile.
"Are you a Thundercat?" I asked.
Jaga nodded and motioned for Lion-O to come closer. Lion-O walked closer, but stopped a few feet away. I felt awkward as Jaga pulled me closer to Lion-O.
"Lion-O, this is Heidi. She's your mate," Jaga said as he pulled me towards Lion-O.
"What?! Jaga! You told me that Thundercats could only mate with other Thundercats!" Lion-O yelled out in shock. I felt hurt.
"Does he not want me?" I thought to myself.
"Lion-O. I was wrong. She's your mate and there's nothing wrong with that," Jaga said.
