Lost in their thoughts!

It was quiet in the room for a while. Jeff stood to the side of the bed thinking and the nurse didn't  dare to move an inch. Alan was still cuddled up in Scott's arms getting the comfort he needed from his eldest brother.
Gordon hadn't ended the call to John so he still floated in holographic form from Gordon's communicator. Virgil made himself busy with looking thorough Alan medical records.

No one had mentioned it but it was obvious to all. There was tension in the room and it came from all of the boys. They all had opinions on what had occured in the last few years and they all had opinions on what should be done about it.
They all wanted what was best for Alan and they all cared for him, but none of them could deny that John knew the most. They knew that John had stood by Alan and had been there for him when they had forgotten. They knew that they couldn't argue with John about this. They knew that in Alan's eyes John was his hero, he was always there for him.

Of course this was an unsettling thought to all of them. They had neglected Alan and therefore knew nothing about him and didn't get an input in his life. They wanted to be close to him again. They wanted it to be just like it was before International Rescue had happened.
And yet they had no idea what to do.

They were all angry at Jeff in their own ways for their own things. They knew that their dad was too hard on Alan. They had tried to help once upon a time. They had tried to convince their dad of other ways to approach the problems that he had with Alan. Yet every time they were shot down and told to leave the room. Eventually they had stopped trying, they had realised that trying to talk on him was a waste of time. But as they did this they hadn't realised what it would look like to Alan. To Alan they had abandoned him.

Scott felt like a failure! He couldn't believe that he had abandoned his baby brother. His brother needed him and he wasn't there for him. All he could think about was how Alan had been all alone and he had failed to help him. Alan was an amazing young lad, nearly a man. Scott had missed all of this because he was too busy to pick up a phone and call him.
As Scott held Alan in his arms he shook his head at his thoughts and what had happened to his baby brother.
John was enraged! He couldn't believe what their father had said to Alan. He was fed up with everyone ripping him to shreds and making him feel bad about himself. He had spent many nights over the years telling Alan that he was smart and that the meant something to the family and the world. He had to tell Alan that he had a purpose and that they lived him because everyone else made him feel useless and unwanted.
Now this was the tipping point. His dad had gone too far this time. He couldn't sit around and let this go on. So he had to put his foot down and he wasn't ever going to regret it.

Virgil was lost, hopelessly lost! He didn't know what to think, he was always the mediator. He smoothed everything over and tried to settle all the arguements in the family. But this one was beyond his control. He could see this one had been brewing for a while and that he couldn't do anything about it. All he could do was focus on Alan's recovery and try to make it as easy as possible for him. He was lost. He was the medic but had no nice what to do. He could see that Alan obviously was upset emotionally and it was buried deep. Yet at the thought that his baby brother could possible need to see a shrink, he just felt like a major failure.
As a big brother it was his job to protect them. As the medic he was supposed to fix them. And this was beyond his control. Vigil felt like he had nothing to offer, he was of no service to Alan this time. He didn't know what to do and he was scared to admit that he never would when it came to Alan.

Gordon was fuming! Alan was such a smart kid and he could see that. He knew Alan was smart. When Gordon was planning something he went to Alan to get help. He knew that the kid was great at strategic planning. Thats one of the main reasons why he wanted the kid to be a Thunderbird. He desperately wanted to be able to show the others what Alan could do. He was proud of him and he had always been close to him.
But in the last few years he had failed to see that there bond was desolvong before his eyes. The teasing had gone too far and he didn't see it. His brother had hated coming home due to the fear of seeing his family. He couldn't believe that he had played a part in this and he didn't know what to do. Yet he knew one thing. He would blame his dad for this. This was his dad's fault and everyone knew it.

Alan had failed to see his brothers true colours! He had failed to see that they had supported him and loved him. He was blind and a fool. In their own ways they had always been there by his side. They may have teased him alot and failed to stand up to their dad but they loved him. He couldn't deny that. All he had to do was look at them now and it was as clear as day in their faces and body language.

Jeff was drowning! He was drowning in his thoughts and emotions. He had failed miserably.  He had broken his promise to Lucy. He hadn't been there for Alan. Alan had been raised by his brothers. He had then lost those brothers to his dad's grand idea. He had robbed his youngest son of a proper childhood and the nurturing that he deserved. How had he gone so wrong? How could he of allowed this to happen? And how could he make this right?

they were all plagued with their thoughts and were all fighting their inner demons. They needed to talk as a family but no one had he courage to break the awkward tension filled silence of the hospital room.
All the nurse could do was look between the people in the room and hope to dear God that they could recover from this or this would definitely be the end of International Rescue.
