Losing My Way

My compass gone, I'm lost at sea,
the waves of life are drowning me.
I once had direction, purpose, aim,
but now without it, I'm not the same.

Your presence steered me from the rocks.
When I was lost, you found my way.
Your absence leaves me without locks
and the wind and waves have come to play.

The stars above are hard to read.
The needle of my heart can't lead.
I miss you more than words can say.
To guide me now, I have to pray.

For in your absence, I must learn
to chart my course, to bridge the burn.
Though life may take me far and wide,
your light shines on, a loving guide.

The first verse was in another poem I wrote
and I felt like it had more to it so I continued.
