She wanted his heart, oh how she craved..
to hold it so close, to keep it safe.

But try as she might, it slipped from her grasp
as he guarded it fiercely, with every last gasp.

She searched his eyes for a glimmer of hope,
but saw only walls, where love couldn't cope.

She begged and pleaded, but he couldn't bend
bound by his past, he wouldn't let love in.

She tried to show him, what love could do
to heal and mend and make everything new.

But his heart was shattered, too broken to sway
So she had to let go, and accept the dismay

She'll always love him, that will never die
Even if it means to that part she has to say goodbye.

For she knows deep down, with all her heart
that he couldn't give her what she wanted from the start.
