Finding What's Lost

She thought running would make her mind stop its racing. Her calves on fire from the resistance of the sand below her feet, her body a sweaty glistening mess.

She paused to regain control of her erratic breathing. Bending slightly with her hands gripping her hips, she wonders what she's running from the most. Words already said and acknowledged or what she was too afraid to admit.

Music of "Sleep Token" filling the silence as she takes in the ember painted horizon just as it barely kisses the rolling ocean waves. Listening to the words, every lyric she's relating to.

Her mind in a frenzy. A thought dawned on her, she couldn't remember the last time she danced. Dancing much like writing, had become her way of expressing the nightmares she'd overcome and the confusion she faced. She picked up on dances rather quickly with only having to watch a handful of times. She figured out as a kid that dancing took place of the things she'd rather not face, sheer emotion of what haunts her.

She grabbed her phone and switched it to "Khalid-Better" glancing around to make sure she was alone. She mimicked his every whimsical move adding to it a more feminine touch. Each rolling of her body felt euphoric as her worried world faded away. Her messy tangled wind blown hair going every which way.

In this moment she found herself content. She found a part of herself she was missing that nothing else could find. Avoiding all that brought her to this point.
