my eyes fixed on her message as i sat down on my bed

still breathing heavily from my jog to the park and back.

i have a friend

was ringing through my mind. i smiled to myself.

she's barely a friend

said the voice inside

but i forced it away.

i was done with my own thoughts, my own demons

that guarded me from enjoying life

prevented the light from coming in through the crAcks

in the walls i'd built.

the cracks that were growing larger and larger the more time i spent with Midori
