Troublesome Things

On Earth-777, it was a cool evening and in an apartment complex, Polina laid in her bedroom, staring at the ceiling. A notebook laid by her feet.

She frowned and sat up. She picked up her notebook and started writing.

'Gwen and Miles took me to HQ yesterday,' she wrote, 'I met a lot of other Spider-People. Especially Hobie and Pavitr. It was nice. I even met Miguel and he didn't seem bad.'

She sighed and set down her book. For a moment, she felt happy that she finally belonged somewhere; even if it was in a different dimension.

She got up and walked into the kitchen. Her mom would be working another late shift tonight.

Polina sighed before she looked at the picture of her mom, her dad and her as a baby.

She stared at it for a few moments before she looked at the window. Smiling, she put on her purple and black Spider suit and hopped out the window.

Slinging out her webbing, she swung through the air and landed on a rooftop before she started running. She could hear the sounds of police sirens going off.

She watched as two police cars sped down the road. She frowned before she saw a black van speeding away. She narrowed her eyes before she flung out her webbing and swung after the van.

As Polina swung through the city, her heart raced with excitement and determination. The wind blew through her hair, adding to the thrill of the chase. With each swing, she got closer to the fleeing van, her spider-sense guiding her every move.

As she caught up to the van, she noticed the familiar white blur in her peripheral vision. It was Gwen, the Spider-Woman from her dimension, joining her in the pursuit. Their synchronized movements spoke volumes about the bond they shared as Spiders.

Together, they weaved through the city streets, dodging obstacles and pushing their abilities to the limit. The van swerved and turned in an attempt to lose them, but Polina and Gwen were relentless.

Using her agility and web-slinging skills, Polina managed to get ahead of the van. As it approached an intersection, she shot a web and swung herself around a lamppost, creating a barricade in its path. The van screeched to a halt, trapped by Polina's quick thinking.

Gwen quickly caught up, gracefully landing next to Polina. The two Spider-People approached the van cautiously, ready to confront the criminals inside. Polina's heart raced, a mixture of adrenaline and nerves surging through her veins.

They yanked open the van doors to find a group of masked individuals, panic evident on their faces. Polina's spider-sense tingled.

"Damn it," one of the men said and he pulled out a silver and blue blaster.

Before Polina and Gwen could react, a stream of blue flames flew at the two.

Polina quickly shoved Gwen and yelped as the flames slammed into her abdomen, sending her flying through the air and she hit the ground hard before she tumbled across the ground.

"POLINA!" Gwen shouted, her eyes widening. She growled and glared at the men before she leapt at the man and grabbed him by the shirt collar.

He yelped only to yell when the driver suddenly started the van and Gwen yanked the person with the blaster out from the back.

Gwen tossed the man at the ground just as the policemen hurried over.

Ignoring them, Gwen ran over to Polina who slowly got up.

Polina winced and held her abdomen, whimpering softly. "Hey, hey. Easy," Gwen said gently as she helped the girl to her feet.

Polina whimpered as she leaned against Gwen.

She glared at the man as the police dragged him away. She looked back at Polina before she picked her up and quickly took off with her friend.

Once they got to Polina's apartment, Gwen helped Polina sit down in the bathroom before she started rummaging through the medicine cabinet.

"Can you lift up your shirt?" Gwen asked. Polina flinched and nodded before she slowly lifted up her shirt, revealing a bruise and some scratches.

Gwen gently assessed Polina's injuries, her eyes filled with concern. She cleaned the scratches with antiseptic solution and applied a soothing ointment. "I'm sorry this happened, Polina," Gwen said softly, her voice filled with empathy. "But you were amazing out there. We stopped those criminals, and we'll make sure they face justice."

Polina winced as Gwen tended to her wounds, but she mustered a weak smile. "Thanks, Gwen," she whispered. "I couldn't have done it without you."

Gwen finished bandaging Polina's scratches and helped her lower her shirt. "You're a brave and talented Spider, Polina," Gwen said sincerely. "Your powers make a real difference in this world. Just remember to take care of yourself too. It can be dangerous out there."

Polina nodded, her expression a mix of determination and gratitude. "I will, Gwen. And I'm glad I have you as a friend and mentor in this new dimension."

Gwen smiled warmly. "I'm glad too, Polina. We'll keep fighting together, supporting each other. Remember, you're never alone in this."

With Gwen's help, Polina stood up and they walked back to her bedroom. As Polina settled back on her bed, she let out a sigh of relief. The adrenaline was fading, replaced by a dull ache in her abdomen.

"Rest up, Polina," Gwen advised, tucking a blanket over her. "You took quite a hit. I'll stay here with you and keep an eye on things. Tomorrow, we'll talk to the other Spider-People about what happened."

Polina nodded and closed her eyes, feeling comforted by Gwen's presence. As sleep claimed her, she couldn't help but be grateful for the courage she had found and the bonds she had formed in this new dimension.

The night was quiet. In a far part of the city, there was a huge mansion.

In a large office, a thirty-three year old woman stood by the window, staring out towards the distant lights of the city. She had porcelain skin, raven black hair and bright blue eyes.

This wasn't an ordinary woman.

Her name was Irene Black. She was the leader of the Moon Mercenaries. And the creator and founder of the Primal Foundation.

She was a powerful woman with a lot of experience and a lot of people on her side. She had risen to the top and struck fear into the hearts of innocent civilians.

And now she had a common enemy. And that was Spider-Woman.

Odette smiled darkly. A little star that she was going to enjoy playing with.

There was a knock at the door and the woman walked into the room.

"Milady, we have it," she said. Irene looked at her and the woman opened the case.

Irene smiled and she picked up the dagger, "the Eldritch Fang. A weapon so powerful it can cut through space and time and open dimensions. You have done well, Lillith."

Lillith bowed her head.

"For now, keep this locked away until the time comes to use it," Irene said, "that time will come sooner than later. I wish to... take advantage of this."

"Of course, milady," Lillith said and she carefully took the Eldritch Fang and walked out of the room.

Irene looked at the picture of a baby girl with curly black hair and light brown eyes.

Irene stared at it before she gently set it down on the desk, laying it down on its front. She looked back at the window.

"Just you wait, Spider-Woman," she said, "soon you will become part of this."
