Making Friends

As she watched everyone talk excitedly, Jess hummed and she walked off. Polina tilted her head and she glanced at the others. They were busy talking among themselves so she decided to follow Jess.

The woman figured she was being followed but didn't say anything just yet as she walked to the bridge part of the HQ.

Jess walked into the bridge and Polina quickly slid through the doors before she hid in the corner of the room.

"Miguel, we need to talk," Jess said, crossing her arms.

Polina watched from her hiding spot as Jess confronted Miguel in the bridge. She couldn't help but be curious about what they needed to discuss. She held her breath, listening intently.

Miguel raised an eyebrow and turned to face Jess. "What's the matter, Jess? Is something wrong?"

Jess sighed, her expression grave. "It's about Polina. I've been helping Gwen train her, and to help her control her powers. But lately, I can sense something... off about her."

Miguel's eyes narrowed as he considered Jess's words. "Off? In what way? Are her powers unstable?"

Jess nodded. "Yes, that's part of it. But it's more than that. It's like there's something dark lurking within her. Something she's not even aware of."

Miguel's concern deepened. "What are you saying? Are you suggesting she could be a threat?"

Jess shook her head. "I don't know for sure. But I think we need to keep a close eye on her. There's too much at stake. We can't afford to take any risks."

Polina's heart raced as she listened to the conversation. She had no idea that there were doubts about her, and the mention of a hidden darkness within her sent a shiver down her spine. She wanted to speak up, to defend herself, but fear held her tongue.

"I'll keep an eye on her," Miguel said finally, his voice filled with determination. "If there's anything unusual or dangerous, I'll intervene."

Jess nodded, her expression serious. "Good. We can't let anything jeopardize our mission or the safety of this Earth. We need to protect it at all costs."

Polina felt a mix of emotions - fear, confusion, but also determination. She knew she had to prove herself, show them that she was not a threat. She silently made a promise to herself that she would control her powers and prove her worth to the Spider Society.

As the conversation between Jess and Miguel continued, Polina quietly slipped away from her hiding spot. She knew she needed to contemplate what she had heard and make a plan to address their concerns. She would prove to them that she was not a danger and that she could be trusted.

Polina walked down the hallway as she started to get lost in her thoughts.

"Polina?" She stopped and looked at Miles and Gwen.

"You okay?" Gwen asked. "Yeah," Polina replied with a nod. A part of her wanted to tell them about what she had heard but she didn't want them to get in trouble.

"Just decided to explore a bit," she said, giving them a smile, "you know me."

Miles chuckled and ruffled her hair. She squeaked and swatted his hand away. Gwen and Pavitr laughed softly.

Hobie chuckled.

"So... how long have you been around in the HQ, kiddo?" Peter B. asked, looking at Paige.

"Well... this is obviously my second time here," she replied with a nervous smile and she looked at Gwen, "Gwen and Jess have been helping me with my powers."

Miles gave a dramatic gasp as he looked at Gwen, "and you never told me?"

"Oh come on, we spend time together, you big goof," she laughed as she wrapped her arms around Miles and he laughed too and kissed her forehead.

"Aww," a few other Spider-People cooed and the two blushed. Mayday giggled, clapping her hands.

Polina chuckled and she sighed softly, wrapping her arms around herself.

Miles and Gwen looked at her. She squeaked when they pulled her into the hug and kissed her temples.

She blushed and squeaked, her face turning red.

Deep down, she had feelings for both Gwen and Miles but she didn't want to get in the way of their relationship. Especially when she saw how happy they looked.

But what she didn't know what was that they were eager to bring her into their little love circle.

And they did it by pulling loving stunts like this one.

Hobie snickered and Polina blushed more as she covered her face.

Pavitr smiled. Polina grumbled before she cleared her throat and looked at Peter B.

"Um, sorry about that. I think they were just trying to make me feel included," Polina said, trying to regain her composure. "So, Peter B., what were you going to ask?"

"Well what's your world like?" Peter B. asked curiously, "since you live on Earth-777, Gwen told me that your mom is a nurse."

Polina nodded, a slight smile playing on her lips. "Yes, that's right. My mom is a nurse back home. My world is similar to this one in many ways, but there are also some differences. For starters, the existence of superheroes is not as widespread as it is here. We don't have a Spider Society or a team of Spider-People like you all. Instead, there are just a few select heroes who protect our city."

She paused for a moment, thinking about how best to describe her world. "There's a lot of crime and corruption, unfortunately. The city can be a dangerous place to live, which is part of the reason why I was drawn to Gwen and the Spider Society. I wanted to do my part to make a difference, to help keep people safe."

Polina looked around at the group, her gaze lingering on Gwen and Miles. "And I'm grateful to have found this amazing group of Spider-People here. They've been teaching me how to control my powers and showing me what it means to be a hero. It's been an incredible experience so far."

Peter B. nodded, absorbing the information. "Sounds like a tough world to live in. But it's great that you're finding your place here with us. We're all here to support and help each other. And with your unique perspective, I'm sure you'll bring something valuable to the team."

Polina felt a surge of gratitude at Peter B.'s words. It was reassuring to know that she was accepted and valued among them. She smiled and nodded. "Thank you, Peter B. I really appreciate that. I'm excited to see what we can accomplish together."

The conversation continued as the group got to know each other better, with Polina feeling a renewed sense of purpose and determination. She was determined to prove herself to Jess, Miguel, and the rest of the Spider Society, and to show them that she could be relied upon. With the support of her newfound friends, she knew anything was possible.
