Gathering Information
Miguel stood in his office as he looked over some information on Irene Black.
On Earth-777, she was the leader of the Moon Mercenaries and the founder of an organization that would make advanced technology. The organization was called The Primal Foundation.
He frowned as he stared at the files. As far as he knew, she had no family. At least... none that he knew of.
He sighed and rubbed the side of his face. Lyla appeared beside him.
"So... how'd it go?" She asked, arms crossed. "About as well as the last one," he replied and he looked at the files for a moment, "...has she come back yet?"
"Yep. She's with Miles, Gwen, Hobie and Pavitr."
He nodded and looked at the screens again. He sighed deeply.
"I'm going to leave for a while," he said, "Lyla, you're in charge until I come back."
Lyla raised an eyebrow as she watched him walk through a portal.
On the other side, Miguel walked out and glanced around. He was on a rooftop and he heard the distant sounds of ambulances rushing to aid a few people.
He sighed before he took off towards a much larger building. The Iris Building.
The building was black and purple with red and blue trim.
There was a crowd gathered outside but Miguel ignored them as he swung into an opening.
He looked around cautiously before he narrowed his eyes and he walked around carefully, being wary of guards that were patrolling the hallways.
He snuck into a larger room and he blinked. This... wasn't a lab. It was a bedroom.
The room was decorated with white wallpaper and glowing decorations of stars and moons and suns hung from the ceiling.
A desk was on the other side of the room, next to a closet and a bathroom.
There were stuffed animals strewn around the room, on the floor, the windowsill and the desk.
It was anything a kid could want.
Miguel narrowed his eyes and took a slight step back. The door opened and he spun around to see Irene.
She raised an eyebrow, "well... you're certainly a surprise, aren't you?"
Miguel growled before he ran at her. She smirked and quickly moved to the side. She stepped back, lifting her hand and bright blue ropes suddenly wrapped around Miguel.
He grunted as he fell to his knees. He snarled and struggled in the ropes but they seemed to tighten every time he moved.
Guards ran over and pointed their guns at him.
Irene raised her hand again, silently motioning then to stand down. "Now, now, gentlemen. Let's not treat our special guest this way," she said, "I'm sure he is here for a reason."
Miguel glared up at her. "You made that wolf," he hissed, "you got Polina's mother killed."
Something flickered in Irene's eyes.
She frowned deeply, placing her hands behind her back, her posture calm and composed, "I did make that wolf... but... I needed to draw you and the rest of your little crew out. And as for Polina... there's been no news of her death," her smile returned, "so it's safe to say that she is alive. She's just not here. Something that I am incredibly grateful for."
Miguel growled, his eyes flaring with anger.
He wasn't going to let this monster get to Polina.
Irene tilted her head a bit and she hummed softly. She reached out and held Miguel's chin in a firm grip.
"You're an interesting man," she said and she tilted her head a bit. He stared at her with a scowl.
She chuckled softly, "well?"
Miguel snarled before he broke free of the ropes and Irene quickly jumped to the side as he slammed into a guard. He grabbed him by the shoulders, spun around and threw him into the other two. An alarm went off and he winced, covering his ears.
He ran down the hallway and leapt through the window. He quickly climbed up the side of the building before he found himself on the roof.
He breathed heavily and gritted his teeth before he slammed his fist down the floor of the roof. Then he noticed that his hands were shaking.
"Damn it," he growled, "damn it, damn it." After a moment, he took a deep breath to settle down.
He stood up. He would have to try and get information from a different source.
He resisted the urge to call Lyla and ask for backup. He wasn't going to put the others in danger.
He scanned the area before he saw a woman walking away from the other side of the building. He frowned before he jumped down and landed in front of her.
She jumped in surprise and stared at him, her eyes slightly wide. She had an ivory skin tone, brown hair and brown eyes.
"Spider-Man?" She said nervously. "I need information from you," Miguel said coldly, "I know you're one of Irene's followers."
She frowned in confusion before she looked around nervously. Before he could say anything, she grabbed his arm and pulled him into a corner where no one could see them.
She looked at Miguel. "What exactly do you want to know?"
"That room. Who is it for?" He asked calmly. She took a breath.
"It was for her daughter before she disappeared," she said, "Irene had a daughter named Polina."
Miguel froze, his eyes widening in shock.
"What...," he murmured. The woman sighed softly, "I don't know the exact details but... I know Irene started this foundation because of it. She wants her daughter back."
Miguel frowned before he turned away, his mind trying to figure out the information that he had been given. Polina was Irene's daughter.
As far as he could tell, Polina didn't know that. He exhaled sharply before he looked over his shoulder and the woman was already gone.
He cursed before a portal opened and he quickly jumped through it.
Unbeknownst to him, Irene watched through one of the cameras, a slight smile on her face.
