52
FIFTY-TWO
Ever since their meeting at their local coffee shop, Jungkook had promised to himself that he'd get to the bottom of Namjoon and Yun's little secret. He had to find out what they were thinking of. But he somehow felt that uneasy feeling once more.
He wasn't grounded anymore, thankfully. His mother had forgiven him after a week. Once she had told him that last week, the first thing he did was visit Nari and he spent the whole day with her.
"Where are you going?" His sister asked him as he ran down the stairs with a slight smile on his features.
He sighed, "Why do I have to tell you, little sis?" He asked.
"Because we want to know why you are going out so much." the voice of his mother startled him.
Behind her petite figure was his father, his parents had a weird relationship. Sure, they were still married but you could clearly see that there was no love between them anymore. Their relationship was still going on solely for their children, that's what he had heard his father tell his mother one night when he was 15.
Jungkook gulped, "I thought you were still on a business trip." He told his father who held a scowl on his face.
"It got cancelled because of the bad weather in the States." he answered as he sipped his cup of coffee calmly.
"Now tell us honey," his mother smiled at him, "Why are you going out so much and most importantly, where?" she placed her hands on his shoulder.
Jungkook looked at his sister with a scowl on his features, she shrugged before mouthing 'I'm sorry'. He sighed, it wasn't her fault that their parents wanted to know about their son's whereabouts.
"I'm just going to Namjoon's house, that's all." he responded as he walked with his parents to their living room.
His father scoffed, "Then tell me," he fished something out of his pockets, his phone, "who is she?" he motioned to his phone as he showed him a picture of Nari and him on the mall.
Oh no. This can't be happening.
His father always questioned about his friends. He always encouraged his to hang out with people of his 'kind'. As if being rich was something out of this world. Sure, he was rich but in his house, aside from all the beautiful and expensive objects that hanged around the mansion, there was not an inch of happiness and comfort. The only person that he was happy with was with his sister and sometimes his mother. Whenever he came to his house, he could sense the escalating tension that his parents shared.
"She's," What is he going to say? His friend? His girlfriend? Or just some other girl? "my, um– my girlfriend." he let out.
No, he wasn't ashamed of Nari; he would never be. He would never forgive himself if he denied their beautiful relationship.
"Excuse me?" his mother asked as she opened her eyes widely.
His father chuckled.
"What? What's wrong?" He asked his parents.
His mother took the phone out of his father's hands, "She looks," her eyebrows furrowed, "ordinary."
Jungkook's hands formed into fists on his lap, "What do you mean by that?"
"You know what we mean." She replied.
Jungkook looked at his sister and she just sighed before responding, "She looks okay, I don't know what you mean by ordinary."
"Yes you do, don't act like you don't." Their father scolded.
Jungkook knew perfectly, he just wanted to hear them say it.
"What do her parents do for a living?" his mother asked.
"Her mother is a teacher at the prep and her father works with some other stuff." the teen responded.
"So does her father own a company of any sort?" his father asked.
"Why is it important for you both that I date someone rich?" He exclaimed as he stood up abruptly.
Jungkook exploded.
"Jungkook, you know the drill, money equals a happy life." his father scolded him once more.
The teen shook his head, "No, okay? I'm dating her because I love her for who she is, not for her money," his ears were turning red, "I don't care if she's rich or not."
"Sit down, young man." His father held his shoulder and sat him down abruptly.
"Money does not equal a happy life! Look at you!" He shouted.
"You are getting grounded for a month if you continue!" His mother let out.
"Ground me a month then! But I can tell that you aren't happy anymore. For years Mina and I have watched you both sleep in different rooms, we have watched you not even dare to look at each other anymore! You claim that money is happiness but for us it's just a bunch of paper being wasted in stuff we don't even need." He finished as his era filled up with tears.
Mina was crying too.
"You think we haven't noticed, but we have. And it hurts to know that you guys are pretending to be happy when you aren't." He croaked as he wiped his tears with his sleeve.
"Honey–" his mother mumbled as she began walking towards him.
He shook his head, "I have to go." his hands trembled.
"Please listen to us, just sit down." she pleaded.
Jungkook croaked, "No, I'm out," he stood up as began walking to the door, "I'm actually going to see my girlfriend, don't wait for me."
"Jungkook!" his father shouted.
He turned to them with tears spilling out of his eyes, "I'm sorry, but I have to go and," he sighed, "think for a while. I'll be back tomorrow morning, good night."
He couldn't stand to hear his mother pleading out to him. It hurt seeing that his family was broken; that there wouldn't be a way to repair it.
He ignored his parents pleas. He knew he messed up, big time. He'd never screamed at his parents like that, even worse; he's never told them the truth that they knew about their messed up 'agreement'. He had to see her, he needed to calm down.
He closed the door with a bang.

The boy let out a deep breath as he turned off his motorcycle. What he had done kept circling in his mind. He took out his phone and texted his sister.
jungkook
I messed up.
mina-mins
you kinda did.
but it was time to let them know the truth.
jungkook
im sorry.
mina-mins
you don't have to apologize to me for anything.
it was time to let them know and it was time to say what you thought, it was just not the right way of saying it.
It was approximately eight in the morning. The sun blared on his face and he walked to the balcony.
He knocked on the door and sighed.
Ara opened up and saw his expression.
"Hey," she furrowed his eyebrows, "are you okay?" she asked as she let him inside.
Yun and his wife were on the kitchen and they stared at him.
"Jungkook, what's wrong?" Yun questioned as he saw his red eyes.
And just like an act of magic, Nari appeared from the backyard. He let out a sigh before running up to her.
"Babe, what's wrong–" she was cut short as Jungkook's arms circled her waist and pulled her to him.
He hugged her tightly. Without no words, without no confirmation he knew that Nari had learned that something was wrong.
She placed her hands on his back and ran them in his back. As she tried to soothe him his sons got louder.
"We'll be upstairs if you need us." her mother said as he heard their footsteps getting farther.
He felt her try to talk but he stopped her, "Shh, just hold me." he whispered to her as the tears continued to fall.
So she did, she held him like if she was his anchor. He held her so tight because she was his anchor. She was the only one who brought him peace and the only one who could bring him the happiness that he needed in this very moment.
