THIRTY
Night had fallen. Eun had invited the girls to her home and they were now in the living room. Her parents had been kind to the girls and they had left them alone to continue their impromptu sleepover.
They were trying to watch a movie that they had chosen, but their minds were somewhere else.
"Yugyeom wasn't like that." Eun let out. Nari has noticed that she had held it in for a while.
Hye chuckled, "What was he like, then?"
"He was kind, fun and he cared about us a lot," she responded, "he would have never do that, back in the day."
"Wait, so he was in the gang when you were too?" Nari asked her.
Eun shook her head, "I backed out, I left when he told me what they really did."
"I cant believe he almost shot Namjoon." Hye sighed before letting a tear fall.
Nari put her arm around her shoulder, "Me neither."
"I thought that he would really shoot him. I–" Hye was interrupted by Eun.
"Hey," she said to her, "Namjoon is fine." she reassured her.
Hye nodded, "I was so scared, I don't know how to explain what I really felt when they pointed their guns at him." she admitted.
"I told him that this was a bad idea, he just never listens." Hye finished.
Nari hugged her, they were all speechless. No one knew how to react. This showed her that above all the wrong choices and paths they were choosing, they were still human; they were aloud to cry, aloud to be afraid, they were aloud to feel.
"When I met him, he was this shy little boy and I was just a little girl." Hye began.
She smiled before continuing, "I remember when he would get nervous for every little gesture," her eyes sparkled, "hand holding, a smile, and now he just–" she took a deep breath, "he still is the same boy I met in middle school, but he's got so much on his shoulders. This is too much for him."
Nari felt like Namjoon did have a lot to take care of. The fate of her friend's lives were on their hands.
"I've been suggesting for him to get away from all of this, to just stop." Hye proceeded.
Eun looked at her, "What did he say?"
The now red haired girl looked at Eun with a broken expression, "He says he's saving up for us, for our future and that he couldn't just leave you guys like this."
"He also says that he wouldn't leave the only people he has left, that we mean so much to him." she said.
Eun chuckled, "I never pictured him to be a softie on the inside."
Hye smiled, "He's always been a softie, he just tries to hide it," she answered before wiping her tears with her hands, "just like Taehyung is such a softie for you."
Eun's cheeks tinted the color red. Her hands were on her cheeks as she tried to hide her crimson colored cheeks, "Oh come on!" she giggled and so did the girls.
"I've seen your stares to him, you look at him just how Jin looks at food." Hye said.
"I mean, Taehyung is cute." Eun admitted.
Nari nudged her stomach, "So you like him?" she wiggles her eyebrows.
No words were spoken, Eun just nodded before smiling to the ground.
"He likes you too." Nari told her.
Eun scoffed, "He always has eyes for other girls, not me."
"Didn't you hear what Hye said? He's a softie for you, he always smiles more whenever you're around," Nari responded to her, "he likes you."
Eun smiled before looking at her, "Jungkook likes you too."
Nari's heart began hammering against her chest as her breaths became uneasy just at the mention of his name. Her cheeks burned and she covered them with her hands.
"Okay, can we talk about something else before my face turns as red as a tomato?" Nari asked chuckling.
"No, you have to answer me first," Hye spoke, "do you like him?"
Eun and Hye had sat in front of her as they looked at her, anticipating her response.
"Y–yeah." she spoke out loud.
Eun clapped, "I knew it!"
The three girls laughed and continued watching the movie. Hye has begun to feel better, but she was still more quiet than usual.
"Wait, the boys met with Zik's men, like they said?" Nari asked.
Hye shook her head, "No. They posponed the meeting because of the meeting with Yugyeom."
They nodded their heads in agreement.
Silence grew in the room before the door began opening. The three girls looked at the door.
Suddenly a tall, broad shouldered man stepped inside the house. He threw the keys on the counter top before he looked at them.
"I see you brought some friends home, that's new." he said to Eun.
"Oh shut up." she said to him.
He chuckled before going to her and flicking her forehead with his finger, "I missed you, little sis."
Eun smiled, "Missed you too, loser."
She looked at the other girls before talking to her brother, "Seung, this is Nari," she pointed to her, "and Hye, guys this is my brother Seung. He just got back from college."
He smiled at them, "Nice to meet you both."
The girls nodded and smiled at him.
"I'll be upstairs, just call me if you guys need anything." he mentioned before saying goodbye and going to his room.
They had continued watching the movie before Nari spoke.
"I never knew you had a brother." Nari said after he had left.
"Well, now you know." She smiled.
Hye yawned, "I'm going to sleep, I'm tired. Good night guys." she settled herself in the mattress on the tiled floor before putting the covers on her body.
Eun turned off the tv before turning to Nari, "Me too, are you staying awake?"
"Yeah, I'll just check on the boys." Nari told her.
Eun nodded sleepily before putting the covers over her body, "Good night."
"Good night." Nari replied.
She quickly went to the kitchen before dialing up Jungkook's number. After a few minutes he had finally picked up.
"Hey."
"Hi. How's everyone?"
"Good, Namjoon just fell asleep. His hand bled for a while. How's everything going over there?"
"It's going well. Eun and Hye went to sleep and I just wanted to call you."
"I miss you, Nari."
"I miss you too, Jungkook."
"I thought we were going to die when Yugyeom's guards-"
"We didn't die."
"I know, but it still made me nervous. I thought I could've lost you."
"You'll never lose me Jungkook, I promise."
The line was quiet. The only thing she could hear was his breath. Jungkook let out a sigh before speaking to her.
"I love you so much, Nari. So much. There, I finally said it and for the first time in my life I really meant it."
She smiled at his confession. He had just admitted that he loved her. Her hands began sweating, before she decided to finally say what she had always wanted to say to him.
She decided to say what she wanted to tell him ever since they first kissed, ever since they first hugged, ever since they first began opening up to each other; ever since she fell for him.
"I love you too Jungkook, so much."
