Chapter 10

*Maddi's Pov*

We all stand in the square and wait for Helgrind to start talking. I'm not quite sure why this is necessary. Its just a waste of time, for the rebellion that is.

"Hello people of Dagrun. I would like you to devote just a moment of your attention to the screen." Terryn says and I grab Wag's hand. A cell wall, a poem etched into the stone wall. There's a muffled voice in the back ground and I look up at Wag.

"No!" Andor yells and I instantly run to the front. Helgrind smirks as Andor gives in and starts reading.

*Cue Video*

"Everything's easy, easier said than done

Everyone's pretty, hiding an ugly truth,

Deception is all around, watch it

Use caution now, but you're human

Right, and temptations caught your eyes,

The holy water is on fire, like your soul,

We are like dominoes.

Do you feel guilty, what are your prospects now,

Are you even willing, to try and figure out,

What you don't know yet, tell me what life's about,

If we're like dominoes,

We're just like dominoes,

We all fall."

*Keep Listening If You Want*

The camera cuts out seconds after Andor finishes reading. What could they be doing to him?

"See that! He's not one of you anymore!" Helgrind yells looking straight at me.

"He's one of us now." Anger stirs inside me and I feel tears running down my face.

"He's all you have left." I murmur.

"Excuse me?!?" Terryn snaps.

"He's all you...." Wag is dragging me back to the rest of the group.

"Wizard, let the child talk." Helgrind demands. And I want to talk! So what if I get banded for it.

"Lets go." Tom says and my little group leaves.

"That is a prime example of what I didn't want Emily to hear. Good thing she stayed back with Twisted." Wag says, still not releasing his grip on me. I can't even begin to image what they're doing to Andor right now. He sounded more scared than I've ever heard him sound, ever. I can't help but think he knew what was coming. The day after Tom tells me I have to understand the domino effect, Andor writes the darkest poem I've ever herd about it.

"We gotta get him out of there." Jordan says as we walk in.

"You don't say!" I yell and Wag taps my arm as if to tell me to keep my mouth shut.

"WHERE THE HELL IS ANDOR!!!" Steve yells breaking the earky silence that rose over us.

"YOU BUNCH OF DINGOS!"

"WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM!"

"He got arrested." Jordan says pulling me down on the couch next to him.

"SORRY?"

"We need to find him." Jordan says calmly for everyone's sake.

"BY WHOM!" Steve yells looking directly at me. What did I do?!

"The lieutenant." Jordan answers kind of harshly. Steve facepalms then shakes his head.

"You realize gents"

"Why are you so mad?" Tom interrupts, only to be ignored. Hey I mean ignore it and it goes away! Right?

"Who do you think was gonna run the town once we threw the king off the thrown?" Steve asks us,

"Me?" Tom smart mouths

Steve yells, "THOMAS!"

*Jordan's Pov*

"Andor was not only the natural successor, he was suitable for the job." Steve pauses and looks right at me.

"And you lost HIM!" He yells and Jev cuts in.

"I didn't lose shit! He suicided!" He snaps and I hold back a laugh, is that bad?

"We couldn't do anything to stop the lieutenant. Justice tried and that didn't go to well."

"I never much cared for her personally. But I know Andor did a whole lot. I suggest you all start working harder on finding him." Steve leaves us at that. Something tells me that next time we'll see him, he'll have Andor's location.

"Really Jev! You couldn't keep your mouth shut for once!" Maddi yells rolling her eyes.
"He wasn't about to blame me or anything I didn't do! Andor gave himself up! And almost all of us as well! Matter of fact, we quit!" He yells taking Chrissy's hand and storming off.

"Anyone else gonna leave? Before we progress any further." Wag asks.

"Capsize and I have been offered a chance to go back to Ianeria, our childhood home. And we've come to the decision that we want to go home." Skipper says and Capsize looks as if she could cry.

"I wish you all the best of luck. I'm sure Ianite is smiling down on you, all of you." Capsize gets up along with Jordan and myself. Capsize and I share a quick hug before I let her collapse in Jordan's arms.

"Maddi, me and you are gonna go for a little walk." Wag says, taking my arms and walking us outside.

"Why are you doing this?" I ask and Wag's face is full of concern.

"Because I care about you." We walk in silence through the town.

"Hey! You're the kid who used to sing in church!" A boy yells and I sigh, I hated doing that.

"Ya what about it." I snap and sit on a bench next to Wag.

"I saw you stand up to Helgrind today. That was really brave. I'm Blaze." He says his green eyes shining. They're an extremely odd shade of green.

"I'm Maddi." I reply giving him a slight smile.

"I gotta go." Wag says sounding panicked.

"Why what's wrong?!" I say grabbing his arm.

"Don't worry about it." He says jerking free from me and teleporting away.

"You still sing?" Blaze asks trying to ease my worry.

"Yeah a bit."

"Come on." He grabs just above my wrist and drags me to the church. We walk in and there's a brunette girl sitting at the paino.

"What are you doing here, Elle." Blaze snaps saying her name like she's Dianite.

"Nothing, but I'd like if you and you're little girlfriend would leave." She snaps.

"No umm he just wanted to hear me sing. I'm not his girlfriend."

"Oh yeah! I forget you're Andor's little, pet" She says and leaves the empty church.

I sit down and in front of me is Andor's poem. I feel my eyes start to water but quickly blink to dry them.

"She can't do it." Elle says a little louder than she should've.

"Can I hear it?" I ask trying to keep my voice straight.

"If you must." We swap places and Blaze puts his arm around me! His hand rest gently on my hip. Elle starts playing along a dark tune with Andor's poem. She adds a bit,

"Pulling a triggers different than holding guns!"

*Andor's Pov*

"Its time they do something." One of my guards says to the other.

"Blaze called last night. Said he....he grew feelings for Madelyn."

"I don't know if that's good or bad." Bad! Maddi doesn't need a boyfriend yet! And especially without my approval!

"I love my son. But he, much like Ianite, doesn't know how to control his power. In order to hide what he is must learn."

"Speaking of Ianite. Did you hear about Jordan, Andor's second in command, blew up the tainted Ianite statue! While Martha cried and begging him not to not to. He got Helgrind's rapier out of it though."

No way Jordan actually did that. Even for my dads weapon. Would he really toy with the side of her she can't control? Its at times like these I question how much trust I gave him.

"Andor. Andor. Andor. Ready to talk yet?" That stupid lab doctor snaps wheeling in his little cart. I've not only had at lest 20 different medicines in my system, but I've also been beat. I'm lucky though, they shock Justice every time she opens her mouth.

"Stick em' in." I say and let the pain fill me entirely. Then another needle, and one more.

"Goodnight Andor." Is the last thing I hear before falling unconscious. I'm back at home. Jordan's sitting on the couch next to Tom. Watching moms videos. Tom's eyes shine red like she demon she predicted he was. Jordan's are black, a black trail of tears running down his face. Then Justice her dirty blonde hair, the only light thing in the scene. Her grey eyes look sad and tired. She still has her powerful flare. Jordan looks over at Tom and kisses him. Seconds after crumbling to ash.
