Daddy's Gonna Have To Get Me A New Car
Daddy's Gonna Have To Get Me A New Car
Unfortunately for me I had woken up too late. It was the deafening high-pitched screaming of my cousins that woke me up from my slumber.
And that defeaning high-pitched screaming meant that they woke up cuddling each other. They weren't anymore so...
"Awww, photo opportunity ruined," I muttered with a frown.
Natty and Andi shot me a glare.
I raised my hands in surrender. "I need something to get back at you guys for last night," I defended.
Natty picked up the pillow on the floor and raised it above her head. I had enough sense to duck before it hit me straight in the face. I stuck my tongue out at Natty who glared at me in response.
"Okay, kids, let's just go and get some breakfast," Andi muttered. At least she was being mature about this.
"Nah. You guys go ahead. I still have school today," I said, "I'm just gonna take a bath first."
"Sure sure," the two muttered as they raced downstairs. I take back what I said, Andi was kid at heart. I mean, not many mature people laugh like a maniac as they run. They were probably racing down and my guess was that Andi was winning.
I took a quick shower and put on my usual outfit before heading down to fill my stomach. Andi and Natty were already stuffing their faces with eggs and bacon by the time I arrived in the kitchen.
"Damn, another photo op missed," I muttered. "Could've gotten a shot of you two being pigs. Would've been good blackmail."
Natty just smiled at me, sticking her tongue out.
"My mom left already?" I asked and Andi nodded. I sat down and started putting food on my plate. Just as I was about to start eating, Natty stopped me.
She gestured to the living room where I just noticed that there was fire in the fireplace. "Aren't you gonna pay your respects?"
I frowned and got up, bringing with me a glass of orange juice. I stood by the fireplace then dumped my drink into it. All that was left was burnt wood and smoke. I headed back to the table with my now empty glass.
"Well, that's a waste of orange juice," Natty said. I just shrugged and started eating.
"No wonder the gods don't like you," Andi mutteted and I just ignored her.
Hey, it was my bacon. No one other than me can have my bacon.
Once all three of us were ready to go, we hopped into my car and drove to school. They didn't go to class with me and pretty much just ended up wandering off while I was in class. I wasn't sure where they headed off to but they showed up pretty quickly when class hours were done.
"We're off to La Push now, right?"
I nodded, as I pulled out of the parking lot. Unlike this morning, it was Natty riding in the front passenger seat and Andi at the backseat.
Natty and I kept fighting over the songs playing so Andi decided we were better off without any music. I protested but relented. BMTH just wasn't for everyone, I guess.
We were already in La Push when something crashed into my car and sent us off the road. We crashed right into a tree and I felt a sharp pain shoot up my arm. I didn't have time to check on my cousins when the back passenger seat was ripped off and thrown into a distance.
There was a loud shriek and I looked back to see the hellhound. Andi struggled to get the other door open as she tried to fend off the hellhound. Thankfully Natty was fast and pulled out a Celestial bronze knife. She stabbed the hellhound, momentarily distracting the monster so we could get out. I managed to get my door open with the arm that didn't hurt and get out of the car. The three of us made it free and started running. Unfortunatley, the hellhound hadn't disappeared and it just looked more pissed.
It was chasing us. I didn't even want to look back.
"Can't you do something, Lee?" I heard Natty yell. "Don't you have power over those things?"
"I don't! They're from the Underworld but I can't control those things!" I yelled back.
"So, we're dead then?" Andi shouted.
Something in me clicked. Nope. We were not going to die.
Andi and Natty were here to help me prove to Embry that I can take care of myself. That I don't need him to keep protecting me. That I know how to fight.
I stopped running, getting confused and panicked looks from my cousins as they too came to a stop.
I pulled out my pen. "We're here to prove Embry wrong," I reminded them. "Now's a great time to do that." And I just had to be dramatic and make the pen turn into a sword at thst moment.
Dramatic moment didn't last though because Natty yelled my name. I turned around to see the hellhound so close already and ran.
Away fron the hellhound. With Natty and Andi yelling profanities behind me.
"I have a plan!" I yelled in explanation. So, basically I lied. But hey, it made me look cooler than I actually did.
Who was I kidding? I was sure my arm was broken or probably it was just a sprained wrist. I couldn't fight. We couldn't fight. Not when there was blood on Andi's forehead from when the car crashed. Natty was limping. She hid it well, but I could tell she was bending the air around her to make her go faster. We weren't in the condition to fight.
It wasn't like I could summon some skeleton army. I would but I was already too exhausted.
I stumbled, getting behind Andi and Natty. They didn't seem to notice until I screamed. Pain shot up my leg and would have started cursing but I could sense that the hellhound was already so close. I gripped my sword tighter and turned around. I swung the sword just in time and in a matter of seconds I was covered in monster dust.
I'm so gonna need a shower. And ambroisia.
I was shocked for a second but then I burst into laughter. After a while, Natty and Andi did too.
Just then there was the sound of twigs snapping and the three of us froze. We looked to where the sound came from and there stood a shirtless Quileute boy.
It was Quil.
We were all just staring at each other, not knowing what to do in this situation.
Finally, Quil broke the silence. "Embry's gonna be pissed."
I stood up carefully, getting support from Natty and Andi. "He's not gonna find out about this," I muttered. Yes, I wanted to prove something to Embry but, thinking back at what just happened, I wasn't too sure if it would help my case. If anything, Embry might become more firm in his thinking that I can barely protect myself.
"I can't promise that," Quil said. "Come on. I should bring you guys to Emily's."
I nodded before I remembered something. "Wait," I muttered as I started heading in the direction we came from. They were confused as they followed me.
I was limping but I managed to get to my car. Err, what was left of my car.
I fell to my knees dramatically when I saw the state my baby was in. There was a door missing, the windows were broken. Really, it looked nothing like the majestic beauty it had once been.
Quil and my cousins stood behind me as I got up and placed a hand on the hood of the car. "Rest in peace, baby," I whispered dramatically. I took in a breath of air before grabbing my backpack from my seat. "Okay, let's go."
We followed Quil back to where I knew Embry would be. Either he'll be so happy to see me or incredibly pissed. I was hoping for the former because I was too tired to deal with an angry werewolf.
